I probably wont stay again
By Jaime, 11/20/08
My company set me up at this place and when I checked in the front desk misplaced the credit card preauthorization that we had already faxed over. The shower curtains are both made of fabric so after taking a shower expect to find a puddle on the floor. There was not bath mat either to prevent slips! Some of the towels had stains on them also. Oh, and the toilets don't flush well. It takes about a minute for anything to go down. I'm all about wather pressure and power in a toilet. I could tell they had been washed but they did not get all the stains out. There is a metal object sticking out of the wall that has pointed screws jutting out of it next to the elevators. If anyone accidentally rubs against it, expect a flesh wound. I believe this guy may be maintenace. He's a short stocky guy in his late twenties or early thirties. Well this guy never smiles. Even worse he looks pissed off all the time. After I picked up food and was headed up in the elevator he stuck his arm through the door to open it and I hit the door open button. I asked him what floor and he stepped in front of me and hit the button. He then walked off the elevator on another floor (thank god). He made me feel very uncomfortable. The next night I forgot my room key and went up to the front desk where he was sitting and chatting with the front desk receptionist. I said hello and he again just sat there, gave me an ugly look and then the front desk guy came around from the back room where they were chatting and assisted me. They have a sign that reads breakfast from 6:30 to 11am outside. I walked around the main floor and never saw anyone eating or an area that looked like a meal area. I never asked the front desk because that maintenace guy with the look of a serial killer has a habit of hanging out down there. I have one more night to go! Overall it hasn't been absolutely horrible, but they sure do have a lot to work on. Oh, and one last tip! Try and ask for a room that is away from the ice machine. That thing makes so much noise at night. They should really discount the rooms next to it or the elevators because of all the interuptions at night. Oh, and he's an FYI. Most hotels leave a complimentary copy of a newspaper on your door step. This one leaves one, but they have a stamp on it that reads... by accepting this paper you agree to be charged an extra amount towards your stay here. The stamp on it every day has been over one of the written articles and blends in. I got tricked the first day. On a good note. Housekeeping never took anything from my room after staying there for a week. So, service is needs improvement, cleanliness needs improvement, location is good but you need to get to know the streets around the hotel because they can be a maze and value... well I didn't pay for it so I'm not sure but I wouldn't pay more then 100.00 a night.

The front desk personale were very rude, did not make eye contact or even say hello. The service here is HIGHLY UNRECOMMENDABLE!!!! I would rather sleep outside than to ever step foot into this hotel EVER AGAIN!

Kelly-no
By SteveL, 10/18/07
The Kelly has seen better days. Water never got above luke warm (at best). Showers were challenging. Staff was mostly pleasing and efficient. Difficult entry/exit into parking lot.

stay somewhere else if you can
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/20/07
Service is very inconsistent. Morning staff, for the most part, are pleasant, but the night staff consistently is VERY RUDE! One night I watched the woman working the desk be unfriendly and unhelpful to everyone in line. She seemed very upset that she had to speak with people checking in or asking for directions. This behavior was not an isolated incident. Room was clean, but did not smell fresh. My room did not look as nice as I expected from the pictures on-line. The hotel is in less than an ideal location (kind of dodgy), but close to a major freeway, which made it easy to get around town. Wireless internet in room is a plus.

Bad place to visit...
This hotel is a dump. No hot water in our room. Our friends room had no working toilet. The rooms smelled musty. The hot tub wasn't working. The emergency phone in the pool area didn't work. The stairway doors were locked. The ladys' restroom in the pool area was out of service. The mens' restroom should have been...it was disgusting. The night staff was extremely rude. Police were wandering all over the place like they were after a criminal, but we were told "Don't worry, everything's OK". Get all your shots before you book a room here.

Bring at least $285 in Cash when staying here!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/22/07
My family and I stayed for one night at the Kelly Best Western St. Paul, MN. We went to the Wild game and when we came back to the hotel, one of our cars were towed. We asked the front desk attendant if she could help us out, and she said "No. I can't help you with anything." After trying to ask for a little service (their job), we asked the shuttle driver. He gladly said he could help us! He drove us to the impound, where we had to pay $285 in cash. When parking at the hotel, the front desk never told us the best place to park, nor did they take down our vehicle information...even after we offered it! We apparently double parked someone in, even though there were no signs directing the customers what is suitable for parking, nor was the parking lot lines visible to see! After negotiating with the manager she said she'd pay for $100 of the tow...not even half!! With continued talking, and she finally said she'd pay for half. None of this would have happened if they would have fixed the problem when it happened the first time! We weren't even the first ones to have had this happen. Terrible customer service.

A great experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/28/06
The hotel personel were very friendly and helpful.. When I was there there was NO smell of mildew in the pool area, the lighting was fine and the hot tub was great... The food in the restaurant was great and as for sleeping, well we'll just say I slept like a rock! Also when you get up in the morning if you have a room on the front side of the hotel like I did, you get this BEAUTIFUL view of the St. Paul Cathedral... Can we say gorgeous!? Take a chance and stay, I say it's worth the pay.

Would stay there again
By Fred D, 6/21/06
The service was exceptional. We had some trouble the first night but the staff worked with us to resolve the issues. Would stay there again with out a doubt. Even with some remodeling going on the staff was pleasant and helpful. The food in the lounge is good too! Can not beat the hotel for location and price.

Not a good place to stay
By dani, 10/10/05
there are many things that i did not find right about the place. The first thing there was something in the wall that like every 20 mins you would hear it and it was really bad at night. Second the housekeeping was very bad they went through my mom's suitcase, they set the radio to go off at like three in the morning. and than the pool room the lighting was really bad hard to see in there, it smelled like mild dew, and there were bugs all over by the hot tub and oh yeah the hot tube was not very hot. Well i don't want to go on and on, so if you really want to know more go see for yourself.
