A jewel on the lake
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/16/10
fantastic location ... not in the hub of people, but at the end, and yet, within walking distance to canal area, in fact ... perhaps, a better access to swimmable lake front than other locations, LOVED the Blacklock photo collections, breakfast bar is phenomonal, and even the cash bar at happy hour is a plus! Definitely worth a few extra bucks than places up the hill, xtra cost probably made up in breakfast alone. Beds are VERY comfortable, rooms cozy, staff GREAT. We will be coming again!

Simply Amazing!
By Sam, 3/22/10
Please understand that some of the poor reviews are for the old hotel that has since been replaced. The new lodge is fantastic. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Duluth. Fab decor, outstanding breakfast, comfortable sleeping and convenient lake walk access are just a few of the many desirable amenities.

This hotel is awesome! Prime location, great free breakfast, super comfortable beds, nice pool area, friendly staff, and the list goes on! If you are going to Duluth I would definitly check in to the Canal Park Lodge. You'll love it, like I did!

Great NEW hotel!
By JOan Renne, 10/22/09
Don't let some of these other reviews fool you. They are refering to the old Canal Park Inn which was torn down a few years ago. The Canal Park Lodge just opened 2 years ago and is by far the best Duluth has to offer. The rooms are spacious and have gorgeous views of the lake. The pool is modern and their free hot breakfast is fabulous. They also have free internet and a great workout room. I will definitely be staying at the The Canal Park Lodge everytime I visit Duluth.

Great experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/5/09
We stayed at the NEW Canal Park Inn (which I beleive sits on about the same sight as the old hotel)..it was wonderful. Very clean and spacious room. Reasonable price. Service was great. Best complimentary breakfast at any hotel I've stayed at! Within walking distance to most sights. Loved that it was right on the boardwalk and lake front!!! Would definitely go again.

Great place to stay
By psyche, 9/18/07
Within walking distance of everything fun in Duluth (except the Miller Hill Mall). Some rooms have a great view of the lake, and those that don't are a good value. Friendly to families and festivities alike.

Awful then, awful still
We stayed at Canal Park Inn a few years ago, for about 20 minutes! There was no way I was going to sleep in that room,I'd rather go home. Not to knock any one but this place is BAD and we ALL deserve better than that. The air conditioning did not work and it had a general "dirty" feel and smell. I actually looked to see if they had knocked it down and put something else up, nope. Dignify yourself and stay somewhere else.

Swavy da Romantic
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/27/06
We have stayed at 3 out of the 4 hotels that are on the lake front. Some are slightly nicer...FOR TWICE THE PRICE... The had no problems at the Canal Park Inn. Service was good. The room was clean. The hot water was great. Our room faced the lake, great view. Right out side our room was the outside bar where you can sit and enjoy. The other 3 dont have this. The pool was the warmest of the 3 we stayed at, and right on the lake, not facing the street like the other ones. It the only one that actually a place to eat, instead of just juice and donuts. Last year the bar and restaurant was being remodeled. I think I'll make reservations now while I'm thinking of it.

Not a good experience
By R, 5/23/06
The location is great, too bad the hotel messes it up! The place honestly needs to be torn down and rebuilt, the service is just about as bad as it gets and the room wasn't clean. Lakeside rooms need to be renamed hallway view since you actually have to go to the hallway to see the lake and the worst part is the loud bar that connected to the hotel. It was so bad, I actually left the next morning with an extra day left since it was that dredful. I actually found the low-budget Chalet Motel to be a better experience and 1/3rd the cost.
