Holiday Inn, Boston

The hotel was old. The tv's were old. The headboard was cracked. The wallpaper was coming off the wall. The closet was missing a mirrored door. The walls were paper thin. The bathroom was small with no fan. The staff was rude.The pool area was bad. I wouldn't stay here again.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this property in August of 09. The bed was awful. There were potholes in the bed!!!! Fix that and it would have been a great room. But, when you are out seeing the sights you don't really care what a room looks like, you want to sleep.

The room itself was nice. The view kind of sucked because it was basically a parking lot for the Whole Foods Market. It costs $32 per night to park your car in the garage that is attached to the hotel but somehow is "not affliated" with it. That is the cost if you do not move your car. If you come and go, you will be charged by the hour. Valet parking is $36 per night and you can come and go as you please with that. The restaurant in the hotel (Foster's) is HORRIBLE. We ate breakfast there and it was the worst breakfast I ever had. It was very bland and over priced. I had to ask 3 times for a cup of coffee. They even screwed up my toast. I had asked for white and I got wheat. The "butter" that was on the toast tasted more like grease than butter. The employees were not that friendly either. I would not reccomend this hotel.

The hotel overall was extremely great. From the hotel staff, cleanliness of the rooms, to the location. I just find it very difficult to pay $279.00 for a Holiday Inn! For $60.00 more a night we could have stayed at the Omni in central downtown Boston. It was our first trip to Boston so we were not fully educated on the area. If and when we go back we will stay at the Omni. It really irked me to pay $15.00 a night for parking when we were paying $279.00 for the rooms. AND $279.00 is the lower price for these rooms, they go as high as the upper $500.00's.. I JUST FIND IT HARD TO PAY THIS AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR A HOLIDAY INN!!!!!!

This hotel has a great location and it recently had a renovation. But, what made the biggest impression on me was the staff. All were extremely friendly and helpful which was both unexpected and delightful. This will be my hotel of choice when travelling to Boston!!

Located in the middle of the government district, this hotel's location can't be beat. You can walk to the capital or the orginal Cheers and Boston Garden area. Even Fainuel Hall/Quincy Market and the burial grounds of Paul Revere are within 10-15 minutes walking distance or take the blue line to the State stop. From the state stop you can walk to the Farmer's market or the North side which has wonderful Italian bakeries, Old North Church and Paul Revere's house. One stop further gets you to the aquarium and wharf. But, the best thing is that it is close by to the Red line which goes to JFK's Library or MIT or Harvard. It should be noted that Massachusett's General Hospital is across the street from the hotel. This means plenty of sirens going off! Don't forget to visit the ether dome on the hospital campus. I suggest the Pizzaria across the street or the hospital cafeteria with grill for eating. The hotel's restaurant is adequate but is over priced and offers little variety. The free treadmills and coin operated washer/dryer are great for families or those extended stays. Internet access is available and free. Overall, it was a good hotel but a bit overpriced for the accomadations. I think you pay mostly for the location.

Very curtious staff. Clean rooms. Great location if you need to use the services of Mass General Hospital. Secure parking for your vehicle. Just an all around nice place.
