Will never go back there!
By Paula R, 07/16/09
The ASSistant Manager, (Chris O'something) was extremely rude and condescending at check-in. This was completely unecessary and unprofessional. I was extremely embarassed by his tone and loudness. All of the other people in the vicinity could hear him. Very uncomfortable accomodations in every way. The entire hotel seemed dirty and had a strong odor of feet. The place needs a makeover..

unbelievably incompetent staff
By well worn traveler, 01/18/09
So i had booked 2 rooms, 2 nights for the weekend through United.com. I arrive on a Friday and check-in. First, the staff member manning the front desk seems a little hesitant, confused. "I have a reservation- two rooms, two nights, right?" I ask, and he confirms it. Well the next night my room key doesn't work so I have to trudge downstairs and they claim I only booked for one night (although my traveling companion's reservation was okay). The staff says they can easily resolve the problem by simply booking me again. Two problems: (1) They want to charge me the full rate (2) It wasn't too hard for them to "resolve" since it was the slow season. but what if it was New Year's, or Super Bowl? So, I had to jump through some hoops to finally prove to them I had a reservation so they could thoughtful enough to honor the original rate. Gee, thanks. As to why the original reservation got dropped, they have no answer except that it was probably the third party reservation company's fault. I ask United.com to look into it, and so far (Jan 18) United.com says everything went okay on their end but they haven't heard from the hotel yet. Finally, to add insult to injury I see an additional charge for $158 from Doubletree on TOP of the original room charges on my credit card statement. So, more b.s. to take care of. What a headache. in all fairness the rooms were decent but the gross incompetence of the staff is appalling. When I called back to get the issues resolved all I get is the run around, and when I ask if the corporate address for complaints is on the website, the staff member tells me I can write to the hotel. Sure, I''ll do that...and get another run around?

Happy Guest
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/08/08
I live in Cambridge and stayed at this hotel recently while my apartment was being painted. I loved it!! The staff at check-in were truly welcoming and my room on the 16th floor had a surprisingly comfortable bed, a balcony, wonderful views, and a cool river breeze. An additional pleasure: the bathroom was quite large and the shower had great water pressure. All in all, I was VERY happy with my stay at this hotel.

location was perfect
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/12/07
The location was perfect and the staff went out of their way to assist us with information on ski packages, tours and shopping. The service was great! The complimentary breakfast was a real treat and a money saver. We met other guests from all over the United States and enjoyed visiting with them.

Could have been worse
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/27/07
We just returned from a 5 day stay at the Double Tree Boston. Two adults and two children 3 and 6 years old. The rooms upon arrival were very nice.Sleeping on the "sweet sleeper" mattress was anything but sweet!!! Extremley uncomfortable due to complete lack of support that the very last night we put our children in the king bed and we slept on the pull out!! In a word "nightmare". The rooms were always made up promptly and the staff very curtious! The buffet breakfast came w/the rate and was excellent especially because we were able to eat immediatley, very important w/two little children. The shuttle wasnt very convienent during the week and required reservations. So we made reservations and was left to take a taxi from the Aquarium $17.00 when there was no room on the return shuttle. This situation was promptly taken care of by Fabian at concierge!!! He was extremly professional and gave us the cost of the cab 5 minutes later!!!Aside from hearing the man in the next suite sneeze and all the banging from "god knows what" at 6am ,it was a friendly place that I would not return to again!! I guess it could have been worse!!

Doubletree -Soldiers field road-Boston
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/30/07
Concierge Frederick makes this stay better than ever. Nice clean place, good staff, nice atmosphere but the best is the concierge. I once called and joked that it was freezing and to have hot cocoa waiting for me. Upon check in, there wasd hot cocoa in my room ( packets of course) but it was there. Frederick is the best ever!! i recomend it!

We always love to come back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/27/07
Our son has been attending school in Cambridge for 3 years and we always stay at the Doubletree. We stayed there the first time while looking at schools and fell in love with the hotel, the veiw and most of all with the very friendly, helpful staff. We have only had one problam while there and it was attended to promptly. I will not stay anywhere else while in Boston and have even changed travel dates when the hotel was booked full. I now try to make my reservations at least 3 months in advance, just to be sure! After so many(8) visits to the Doubletree we feel like we're coming to see a good friend each time we arrive.

Fabulous hotel!
By Laura, 01/31/07
I stayed at the Doubletree Inn in September 2006 and had a lovely time; we had freshly baked cookies to welcome us at reception when we arrived! Our room was great, we booked via an agent for a very good price and we were given a suite with two double beds, living room, two televisions and a very nice bathroom. The room had a big window with fantastic views of the area; I'd recommend requesting a room on a high floor to take advantage of this! They also deliver a copy of USA today every morning, and the room has a coffee maker and complimentary coffee. The hotel has a nice bar and resturant, and an acclaimed Jazz club (although tickets for this are extra). The hotel also has a well-equipped gym and very nice indoor pool with jacuzzi and sauna. Although it's a few miles out of Boston centre (don't try to walk it, it's along busy roads!), they have a free shuttle bus at regular times during the day which will take you and also pick you up from several locations! This is a very generous service and the drivers were always really friendly and helpful. Overall the service is outstanding, the staff are always available and happy to help. I'd definately go back!

Great Experience
By Mary, 09/05/06
We originally booked the Doubletree because of the price we received for a hotel in Boston but it is by far one of the best hotels we have been in. The lobby was beautiful and comfortable with plenty of seating. We had three rooms booked and arrived shortly after noon expecting to have to wait to check in but we were able to get in immediately. The staff was always helpful and friendly, especially the concierge desk. We needed lots of help with directions, info and even shipping packages and received excellent service. It was a little out of the way but taxis were readily available and the shuttle service took us into Boston and picked us up right on time. The bed was so comfortable and I am even planning on ordering one of the comforters from the Doubletree at Home website. Our view of the Charles River was beautiful, we enjoyed watching the rowing teams practice in the morning. My brother had a problem with his Rewards points but it was finally remedied and our whole group was offered breakfast coupons the next day, which was delicious. We ate in the bar one night and the service was excellent as was the food.

Nice place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/30/05
Nice place to stay, I was there only a couple of days but was impressed with the quality of the service. My room was very spacious. I'd stay here again if I'm ever back in Boston.
