WE LOVED IT!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/9/11
This hotel is great! I don't know why they say it is ghetto. Our rooms were clean and the staff was BEYOND friendly and helpful! We loved Monica, Carl, and esp Josephine the lady who takes care of the breakfast. All of the shuttle drivers were very helpful and friendly. This is an awesome price and place to stay. The location is a 15 min ride on the subway to downtown dc. The area isn't beverly hills, but there's tons of delicious food nearby (The Alamo=awesome tex mex nearby). Two oung women with children weren't afraid at all. I would recommend this anytime!!!! Great job done by everyone even with an earthquake and the impending doom of a hurricane it was a spectacular place to stay!

THAT GHETTO HOTEL!
By Kayla, 7/22/10
That is honestly the worst hotel i have EVER stayed at. I will NOT be going back. the only reason i was required to stay there was because i went for a school field trip to tour Washington D.C back in late April, and all i have to say is, please spare yourself and your well being and do not stay there. ````CONS= In the four days that we stayed there, not once did a maid clean our room. The sink in our bathroom flooded the floor. The shower had tempature problems. The television was terribly staticlally. On the inside of the cabinets that were in our rooms there were dark stains and strange smells. And when we first got to the hallway of our rooms, it smelled of strong ciggarittes and urine, and being a person with mild asthma, it was not delightful at all. Our room keys didnt work when we first got them, and it took at least a half an hour to get new ones. PROS= The rooms have nice size

HORRIBLE !!!
By disgruntled, 8/15/07
The air wasn't working in AUGUST !!!!!There was no TV service at all the first two nights. The toilets in our first 2 rooms wouldn't flush. The area is very bad and the hotel was very hard to find. It is not near the metro station. There is no food local except the Italian place at the bottom of the parking lot. The staff seems to have given up. No one is even fazed by the complaints or problems as I'm sure they are nothing new. This really affected our vacation, and I am very upset that we had booked this in advance, and they would not let us out of the reservation. Howard Johnson should be ashamed to have their name on this hotel. It seems as if they let anyone own one of their hotel, and run it however they want. I will never stay at a Howard Johnsons again.

**The OFFICIAL Review**
By BuckS, 6/10/07
I read the reviews for this hotel a couple of weeks ago before my family & I actually went, so I was not sure what to expect. This hotel was horrible. It's a little hidden up a hill and behind some trees, hard to spot from the road. Also, there were just random people walking around the parking lot, as it was a way through to a lower level road. Did not feel safe at all. The Italian restaurant down the road was also very expensive. The other regular fast food places around the area had horrible service. We tried to go to Burger King, and all the workers had locked the doors and were sitting inside with their friends. The McDonalds cashier actually pulled out her cell phone while she was taking my order and started text messaging. This place is just not a good area to even be in. The elevator was so small only about three people could get on it at a time, excluding luggage. The room was awful, although the beds were nice, the air conditioner was broken! Having to open the window at night during June just to get some air is certainly not ideal. It's also a few hundred yards from the interstate and is also very close to a local hospital. We heard all sorts of noises throughout the night from ambulances to 18-wheelers. The breakfast was good, but not much selection. You could make your own waffles, and they had a few pastries and some fruit, but nothing special. I don't recommend this hotel at all, especially if with family. We stayed the night of June 1st, 2007, with intentions to stay longer, but after the first night we packed up and went to Ocean City, MD. I must say that was AWESOME and the beach and boardwalk were great. Skip this joke and go there!

I wouldn't really recommend it
By Jaz, 4/17/07
The hotel room was big, but the room wasn't really that clean. The tub in the bathroom had hair all in it and the shower head didn't really work. The toliet in our room got stopped up. The tv got VERY FEW channels. The breakfest was nasty. I liked that there was a microwave and mini frige in the room tho. The staff was pretty nice.

Nice place to stay.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/8/06
It is a little off the beaten path if you are with out a car, but they do have transportation to the metro which is nice. You might have a little wait but you just work your schedule. The walk to the metro is about 2 miles but it is a nice and quite area to walk thru, it took about 30 min. I would stay there again! Thanks

If u want great vacations don't go to the HJ
By PriscillaR, 6/12/06
The hotel was fairly clean. The continental breakfast was't that bad. The place was very far from the main DC attractions, they make it seem like the metro is near... it isn't. The employees are unable to give directions to the hotel, one even hung up on me! The rooms aren't sound proof. You can hear what's going on in the next room... voices, steps and couples.... The building is being repaired so the heavy machinery is very noisy from 8 am on.

Great space and location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/20/06
The people are so friendly and the rooms are so large, but still warm and cozy. I was so happy with the select of restaurants in the area. Also, wverything looked so new and it was great sleeping - my room was so quiet and peaceful.
