This hotel is a complete failure.
By MSU2000, 4/19/11
Pro: Laundry if free, shuttle is OK although the driver didn't know the area well. Convinient, close to restaurant, groceries, etc., Restaurant staff is awesome. Cons: 1. Room is filty, outdated is OK, but filty isn't acceptable. Carpet is dirty, you can see spots everywhere. 2. You have to request for refrigerator, I know its 3 stars hotel, but for $145 a night, it should come with refrigerator. 3. Had to argue with front desk to ge tthe room clean. Took almost 1/2 a day to get them to clean the room. 4. Toilet paper, laundry bag, cups, etc didn't get replenished. Call front desk for toilet papers at night and got them the next afternoon. 5. Had to vacuum carpet by myself after they "clean" the room. 6. The heater is very noise. 7. Front desk people are not friendly. I stayed in Hilton all over places, this is the worst one so far. Would never go back or even consider as an option.

DO NOT STAY HERE. Worst ever. This is a Hilton?
By S, 2/24/11
Service was dreadful in every facet--For example, sat at the bar for 45min before getting any attention, while there was only one other pair of customers in the bar (who asked the bartender, who was interminably setting out bottles from a cabinet onto the open bar shelves, "what do we have to do to get your attention?"); we were then sent to the restaurant because the bar had no food, where "they should open soon" (~4pm), but they didn't open until 5:30--"the cook isn't here yet, but we aren't sure when he's coming in." The hotel's shuttle pick up at the nearby Metro let us wait for 45min in the cold through 3 separate phone calls despite the claim that they'd be there immediately; etc. The place was as unkempt as all the other reviewers since 2006 report here. But worst of all, the "special government rate" (for which we all pay taxes) was ~$30/night MORE than the tourist rate, but when I stayed on as a tourist for the weekend after the FDA meeting that I had attended at the hotel ended, I was wrongly charged the "special government rate" for those days as well. It is now 3.5 months later, and I have been unable to get response from the hotel to this issue despite repeated calls & promises made to me that someone with authority to remedy the issue would call back. I am now trying to remedy it through Hilton corporate, but initially they keep referring me back to the incompetent hotel managers, who listen to the issue--when I finally contact one--and then tell me they don't have the authority to remedy the situation, but will have THEIR supervisor call me back--which doesn't happen. I tried to click on NO stars, because it doesn't deserve even one, but the system did not allow that!

Run while you can
By Cheryl G, 6/9/08
Room was dirty, dark, dull and smelled horrid. Tile in bathroom was cracked, lights didn't work, hair dryer shorted out. We had to seek refuge from a major storm in our area and wish we'd selected another place. We went to the restaurant, Rooks, and were greeted by a filthy dining room with only 2 clean tables and a surly matre d' with a bad attitude. When we asked for another table, since the one he selected was by the kitchen door, he gestured to the disgusting tables nearby and threw the menus on another site. Both my husband and I were ill after eating the soup. Don't order the crab bisque. It resembles wallpaper paste. We had no other options due to a 3-day power outage, but if you can help it DO NOT stay here!!!! The service is as bad as the accomodations.

Worst Hotel Experience Ever
By Andrea, 9/26/06
We stayed at the Hilton in Gaithersburg on 9/16/06. My husband and I travel quite frequently for work. We always stay in either the Marriott or the Hilton. Always a wonderful experience. However, I have a pretty bad allergy to dust. One of the reasons we stay at the Hilton we expect since its a high rated hotel we would get a clean room. This past stay at the Hilton in Gaithersburg was a disaster. We came to the hotel around 10 Pm and headed to bed. The next morning I woke up with a horrible headache, running nose, and overall aches and discomforts. These are my normal symptoms to being in an extremly dusty enviorment. It is very simple to take care of an enviorment for someone who has a allergy to dust. You simply vacume the floors preferably with a vacume containing a hepa filter,(this is typically standard now in all hotels) dust and wash the pillows and bed linens. This obviously was not done. Very unclean enviorment, even for someone without allergies. Who wants to sleep on a dirty pillow?

Very nice hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/18/05
I found the Hilton Gaithersburg to be an extremely pleasant hotel that is in the last stages of a full renovation (the lobby and main floor areas are still being redone). The room I had was very well appointed and perfectly clean. It was the standard two double bed room on the 3rd floor. The beds were the new, pillow topped variety and exceptionally comfortable. The furniture was maybe a few years old but good looking and in good condition. The bathroom had a new, full width pink and gray granite top and the ceramic tile in the tub/shower area and floor also had been recently replaced. I didn't get to try the pool but it looked good and from other reviews it sounds as if it is very nice. Good location, just off hwy 270 in a safe area about 20 miles north of DC. I found the service to be both professional and courteous. I would rate this hotel a strong 3 star maybe 4 stars when all the remodeling is finished.
