Horrible service, SO NOISY! Bad. Dirty. AVOID!
By ,
DO NOT STAY HERE. You are a thousand times better off at a Hitlon or Marriot or even in a small hotel like Hotel Le Cirque than here. This hotel may be right on Bourbon (but lets be real...who wants to be right near Bourbon anyways for your hotel? Go a block or two off and you are only gaining!) but it is absolutely horrible. Worst hotel I have ever stayed in, and I have travled all over the world and stayed in some grimy places. But I have never stayed in a hotel this expensive that rents out its courtyard to bat mitzvahs and weddings and allows DJ's to play their horrible wedding/bat mitzvah soundtracks cranked up to volume level one thousand until midnight every night. I listened to Footloose, The Twist, and other horrible cheesy music so loud I could have had it on my TV with the volume turned up all night from five pm to midnight, both nights of my stay. It was literally the worst thing I've ever expereinced when it comes to hospitality. Forget sleeping. Oh, and forget eating. Room service took almost an hour of calling, being put on hold, and calling again before taking my order, which never came. Not, from the other reviews on this website, that Iwould have enjoyed it had it ever made it to my room. The bathroom was dirty, the rugs were stained, the sheets had marks all over them The wallpaper was pelling. Just. Gross. Disrespectful staff. Avoid at all costs.

Great Wedding and Weekend
By ,
Checked into the St.Louis on a Friday (4:00pm) I was attending a wedding in the courst yard on Saturday afternoon. I was warned that a lot of the hotels in New Orleans are old so not to expect too much. It was old but I found it to be clean and the staff was really very nice and helpful. The wedding was outstanding. Food, Music and Service. I had breakfast in the morning and it was very good. I had a early afternoon fleight out and when I got to the lobby to check out it was jammed. I explained that I had to catch a fleight and people in line let me cut to the front (never had that happen to me in New York). The front desk girl Danielle was also great about hurrying to get me on my and way and very pleasant. All in all is was a great wedding and a great stay.

Good location for french quarter
By ,
A good place to stay for exploring the french quarter as it is next to the heart of Bourbon St. Old style decore we liked and the room was comfortable. On the down side although the rooms overlook the central courtyard most can't see it as it is covered with a tent. Also do work out the true cost of a stay, the online booking for our stay, on the hotel's own web site, was 124 dollars but the bill ended up as nearly 190 dollars, amenity charge, processing charge and taxes made up the difference. The special rates for parking, drinks and breakfast didn't work out to be special at all. In summary a good place to stay but work out what you will be getting before you book,

Save your money
By ,
This hotel seems nice on first glance, but then.... the rooms are hot and dirty. There were roaches in my sister's room and mold in the shower. They charge $7.00 per person when you check in for a complimentary drink...explain that. However, when you try to get your "complimentary" drink there always seems to be a problem. My husband and I were not even aware that we were charged for it and were furious as were the other guests in our party who were also charged. The breakfast took forever and the waiters were rude. The check in and check out was disorganized and several rooms in our party received keys and when they went to their room, someone else was already in it. My husband was handed a dirty coffee cup and told to wash it out himself! My phone in my room didn't work and we had to replace room keys twice for not working. There are too many good hotels in New Orleans for reasonable rates to waste your money on this pathetic excuse for a "boutique hotel". It makes the Motel 6 look like the Ritz.

A NIGHTMARE
By ,
We stayed over Memorial Weekend, and I'll never stay there again. Got there about 11:00 and check in isn't until 4:00 pm. They did store our luggage but would not let us check in until 4:00 pm, not a minute before. We did self parking and I was told it would be $28.00 a day. I booked on line and the parking was suppose to be $18.00 a day. At that time, the desk manager just told me that was the charge. This parking is away from the hotel. Very Inconvenient. When we checked out, I did complain to another gentleman, and he did adjust that. The rooms are suppose to have these great views, so I draw my curtains back and I see roof top with air conditioning system on top. The carpet was spotted with dark dirty spots. The toilet didn't flush well at all and the drain plug in the tub was hanging loose. You had to manual put the plug in and out of the tub. This totally grossed me out. There is no drink or snack machine in the hotel. Only one ice machine, and that is on the fourth floor. Not a pleasant experience like the web sites description leads you to believe. BAD CHOICE NEVER AGAIN

Hope someone in management cares!
By ,
My partner and I arrived all excited to be visiting New Orleans! When we entered the lobby, we were very disturbed at the lack of cleanliness and our first impression was totally negative. We asked to speak to the manager and she did not respond in a pleasant manor. She just didn't seem to care that we were uncomfortable with the appearance. Peeling paint, cob webs, bugs, lack of air conditioning in the lobby, musty smell and just plain filth on railings and in every corner of the common areas in this historical building which could be a treasure with a little TLC and management that cares about it's appearance. It's not always true "you get what you pay for" $100.00 per night should be enough to get cleanliness! We did not stay! We took our luggage and moved to another hotel around the corner that welcomed us with early check in and clean surroundings. Thank god this experience did not ruin our trip! Think twice before you book this place, THEY NEED TO CLEAN IT UP!

You get what you pay for!
By ,
If you are expecting something fancy...do not stay here. If you are just looking for a place to lay your head that is in a good location, this is the place for you. It is pretty shabby. The A/C does not work great, the rooms smell musty, and the carpet is stained.

Poor Customer Service & Maintenance
By ,
First the courtyard looks very nice, and the room did upon first enetering the room. The bathtub would not drain, so the tub was full after my wife's bath. had to use the same water so quickly bathe. Front desk stated someone would come up right away (5:45PM) and repair tub, while we were out for the evening. Returned to our room about midnight, and tub had not been repaired. The next morning I called again about the tub. The manager came up about 9AM, and could not repair it himself. I asked for a late checkout (2PM)due to the inconvenience of the tub, and the manager agreed. We (wife and I) tried to quickly bathe again (in the dirty water, so could not add much water without flooding the room). We received a call at 1:45Pm from front desk, asking us very rudely when we were going to checkout. When I stated the manager gave us a 2PM checkout due to problems with the room, the front desk stated we should have been charged for the late checkout. front desk personnel was very rude. The doorman/bell hop was great though (Napoleon was his name, I believe). When I checked out at 1:55PM, the front desk was very rude in person and I asked to speak to the manager. manager came out and i told him the issue with the front desk. Manager stated there is a charge for a late checkout, and he did not apaologize for the tub problems. They did not charge me for the late checkout, but they did not apologize for the tub at any time. very poor customer service (except for the bell hop)!!!!!!!!!!!!

This hotel saved our lives during Katrina
By ,
My husband and I stayed in this hotel during hurricane Katrina. The staff stayed and helped before, during, and post hurricane. From the wonderful, hardworking lady at the front desk, to the chef, we thank God everyday that this hotel took care in a very unpredicatable situation. The chef fed us by emergency light (he and his friend wore miners lights on their heads so they could see to cook). They were also going through a horrific experience, and continued to service the guests. I applaud this team, and will suggest this hotel to anyone, and yes- we will return.
