Maison St Charles Quality Inn and Suites, New Orleans

when i booked through yahoo travel months in advance, and got to the hotle they had no record of me pre-booking and charged my card. I can deal with just about anything but cockroaches. They were coming in through the largeholes around the toliet. I asked for another room to no avail. The housekeeping staff went for two days without cleaning the room,even with me calling them twice. I had to continue using old towels from days before. It just made it hard with the room having roaches and no housekeeping. I like being on st charles avenue because it is next to the sidecar going into town, but probably wouldn't stay there again. They said they would give me a discount but I never saw it, that was weeks ago. Do yourself a favor, if you don't want roaches don't stay here.

We wanted to avoid the crapshoot that is so many French Quarter hotels, looks great on-line, but you never know what you're going to get. Well it gave us both. The Inn looks like an independent, but gave the service that you expect from a chain. The positives were the courtyards, left us wishing we'd had more time to spend lounging there. Our room was very comfortable, but a little plain. The negatives were an ordinary breakfast, smallish pool, and not the greatest location, a Popeyes and Wendy's next door and an Office Depot on the other side instead of that New Orleans architecture you'd expect took a little of the luster off, however none of that is visible from the rooms. The location halfway between the Garden District and the French quarter is kind of convenient for both. It's walkable to the Quarter, although I don't think I'd do so at night. It's location next to the trolley is a plus if you prefer that. We really enjoyed this inn and would go there again.

We like the character and convenience of this hotel. It is not the most upscale, but it really feels like you are in New Orleans. The charm and architectural details of the suites is wonderful !! Sure, there are some dings on the paint, and the bathtubs and finishes could use a little updating, but that just goes along with the age of the buildings which is part of the ambience !!! We feel like it is an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter, but access to it is easy, also. Plus, for the price, you can't beat it........

I certainly don't understand all of the praises for this hotel. It's mediocre at best and the bathroom was filthy. There were hairs on the floor and in the bathtub. There were pieces of paint chipped off the walls. One of the employees watched us load all of our luggage onto the hotel cart and move it to the elevator. At that point, he asked if we needed help. Yes, teh street car stop is wonderful, but there are several hotels that also are located on a stop. New Orleans is filled with a lot of hotels that charge the same price and are at least clean. Don't waste your money.

I just wanted to say that my son and I stayed at the Maison St Charles last week on our way moving cross county and we were very impressed, the room was not only clean but very nicely decorated, the street car was right outside the hotel it only takes about 5 minutes by street car to get to the french quarter just an awesome time. then all of the staff we spoke with were just as friendly and happy and could be. Loved it and then another big advantage this is one of the only places I could find that could park my Large Penske truck with car carrier great deal.. I will definitley be back and will highly recommend your hotel to anyone and everyone I know planning a trip to New Orleans. Thank you all

The 2 Bedroom Suite, very well decorated and plush, New Orleans Style. Balcony opens to St. Charles Street along with the windows in each Bedroom. Sit out and watch the Street Cars go by. It is the only room in the main lobby. Gardens and pool area are well kept. Breakfast is simple. Riding the Street Cars are so easy. Drivers will help you. Cab fare is very inexpensive. Close to Bourbon Street, French Quarters and Uptown Garden District. Our family had a wonderful time and will return.

Lobby and restaurant under reconstruction. Continental breakfast, nothing special. Rooms were adequate, fairly clean. Staff nice, parking across the street. Streetcar is convenient. Neighborhood has good and bad. Ok for price.

Quaint cozy hotel! Nastalgic NOLA! Parking surcharge is the only dislike! Staff was fantastic as well as helpful! We actually walked and road the street car to and frm the French Quarter. The surcharge to park our car was the only thing that made us ride the street car, plus it was fun!

Friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Clean rooms surrounding quiet little courtyards and pool area. Not a luxury hotel but Very nice for the money spent.

The Maison St. Charles is placed in the hub between the Garden District and the French Quarter. Staff was friendly and helpful, and the streetcar is ten feet away from the front entrance. The location holds all of the charm of New Orleans and none of the stench of Bourbon Street. Emeril's DelMonaco is across the street for a pleasant luncheon. Very affordable at between $69-$80 a night depending on the season. We will definitely be back!
