We just spent March 29-31, 2004 at the Le Richelieu in the French Quarter. It is a very lovely, small old hotel on the quiet end of the quarter. The location is wonderful and so is the price. You can walk to almost everything, Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, French Market, River Walk. We felt very safe walking, although we were not out very late at night. A big plus, because we had a car, is the free, secure on site parking lot. Unheard of in the quarter. Your car is where you can see it. A security guard is on duty 24 hours a day. The room we had was not huge, but very nice. We found the plumbing alittle slow at peak times, but just planned around it. The little attached cafe had very good food, excellant service, and looks out on a very pretty courtyard. But, what makes this hotel stand out above many others, we feel, is the exceptional staff. Everyone was very helpful and attentive. A plus for staying at a smaller site, where you are not just a number. We almost cancelled because another site had some negative comments on it, sure glad we didn't. A great value.
