Poorly Managed to say the least.

I was a guest at the hotel recently for a conference. The rooms smelled of mold, mildew, and smoke, although the hotel is non-smoking. The beds were very nice, though, if you can get past the smell. The front-line staff were accomodating, but you can clearly see that the hotel is not managed well at all as the staff was very sparse (there was one clerk at check-in throughout our stay, and a large line nearly every time I passed the lobby, and you have one maid serving an entire floor of the hotel, which meant rooms were not ready until late afternoon/early evening). Furthermore, we had 2 banquet dinners that were contracted through the hotel management that were less than desirable. 3 staff members waiting tables for 250 guests! And we had to wait forever for the food, only later to find out that the head chef and 4 other staff members had quit the night of the banquet, leaving the banquet director doing all the cooking. Another testament to poor management. The positives: The hotel runs a nice golf course on-site. Kilbern's, a privately run restaurant on site, is great! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was 5 star. Wish they would have been in charge of our banquet dinners! Also, Bogart's Bar in the hotel is a great place to socialize, have a drink, and enjoy music, dancing, and karoke. It gets more comical the later it gets...you get the picture. Great entertainment from those trying karoke while drunk. So, overwall, while I did have a good time at the hotel, the rooms and management are not nearly up to par. I recommend the owners of the hotel get rid of management, hire some more people, and do some renovations and keep this Lexington-tradition alive and well.
