HORRIBLE
By ,
I am completely pissed about our hotel experience! First we were sent to our room and it wasn't cleaned yet. Had to wait an hour in the lobby before it was ready. And when we got in there, there was stuff all over the floor and just not as clean as i would have expected. Next, the air conditioning did not work. I know its March, but it was 84 outside and even though it looks like you have your own temp controls, you dont. Also, our toliet didn't flush! When we called down to tell them the phone was not plugged into the jack. Low and behold there was a reason why...the phone wouldnt stop ringing! So we had a 85 degree room, no phone and no toliet!!!!!!!!! Went down on our way out to dinner to let them know, they said it would be fixed by the time we got back (the phone and toliet). They NEVER came and fixed it. One night at 179.99 plus tax wasn't worth it. We will NEVER come back here and we will NOT recommend this hotel to anyone.

WORST HOTEL EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By ,
Well, the first thing that comes to mind about the things I disliked about this hotel are the BEDBUGS! My friend had to change hotels and get all of her clothes washed so she didn't take the bugs home with her. Unfortunately, I had to stay after obsessively scanning my bed for bugs. There's nothing better than waking up after a nice night of sleep during which you are afraid of getting bitten by bed bugs to find out that there's no water pressure in your shower and you have to attend a conference without having washed your hair or any other part of your body. On our last night in town we finally got to change hotels. You will be better off sleeping in your car and I am not kidding. Please read this and trust that you will be better off possibly spending a little bit more money to not have to worry about being bitten by bedbugs and having running water. Do not stay here. Anyone who writes a positive review of this place must have standards by which bedbugs and filth are acceptable. Personally, I'll stick with clean beds with clean rooms and the ability to take a shower in the morning. I really feel sorry for all of you who are going to read these misleading reviews. Your trip will be ruined or at the very least will have a major wrench thrown into it. If you do decide to stay here anyway, check you sheets and your mattress thoroughly. I will never stay at a Red Roof again as long as I live after this experience in Chicago.

What else could go wrong!!
By ,
We booked the rooms through hotel planner and upon arriving at the hotel, the rooms we reserved were "not available". So, we had to reserve a third room for everyone in our party. In the morning...NO hot water. When we were sleeping the next night..the smoke detector kept beeping. We called the front desk & they sent up a security guard. He was scary looking and stepped right on the bed WITH SOMEONE IN IT!!! and disconnected the smoke alarm and left with it. Never saw him or the smoke detector replaced. We called hotel planner right away the same day we were checking in about 4pm Friday and no answer. I called hotel planner again on Monday about the rooms we did not get that were confirmed and they said they don't guarantee the rooms. I asked him to show this to me..he couldn't! Then he told me that I need to contact the hotel about the issue. I did and the hotel responded saying I have to contact hotel planner. What a run-a-round / racket. Better business bureau here I come! We will never do this again! We will book directly with the hotel in the future (NOT RED ROOF INN). For the amount of $$ we spent on this whole weekend..we could have stayed at a 5 star hotel!

Great for the price
By ,
Obviously it's not the fanciest nicest place in the area, but you can't beat the price. It's so well located, you're near all the fun stuff, good shopping etc. When we go back I'll def stay there again

What a deal!!! Yea!!
By ,
My daughter and I were pleasantly surprised at what a great place and location this was. It is walking distance to everything you might want to see in Chicago. The front desk pleople were very helpful and the rooms were small but clean...we chose not to have housekeeping services but each night we returned there was clean towels in a bag at our door with a note saying if we needed anything bw sure to let them know. Thumbs up for this hotel!!

Great place to stay!
By ,
I almost cancelled my reservation after reading some of the negative reviews but had checked out some of the prices for hotels and knew if I truely wanted to stay overnight it would have to be one of the budget priced hotels. I can't say enough about how great the staff was, what a great location the hotel is. If there was a negative, the rooms are small and my friend next door heard me on the phone, the walls are thin, the elevator was slow. But we were there to experience Chicago and we loved it. Would I stay again. I am planning a trip as I'm writing this. My hat's off to the Red Roof Inn!

Bug improvment
By ,
I stay at the Red Roof Inn everytime I come to the city. The service taht makes you feel like your at a 4 star hotel. I smpoke with Kayla and she gave me all this inside info on what do to in the city and how to get around. She was a great help. I also had a chance to stay in one of there new rooms. A HUGE improvment from the past years. I hope next year is even better.

Glorified Motel 6
By ,
The check in clerk was very pleasant and helpful. However, the next morning I tried to ask another clerk - female, slight European accent - for directions to the airport, and she completely ignored me as she was talking on the phone for 5 minutes! Even a Motel 6 clerk would have given a polite gesture of 'one minute, and I'll be right with you". I ended up asking their valet driver, who helped me out immediately. Housekeeping failed to make up our room while we were out for 12 hours. Plenty of 'thug' type guests lurking the halls, and there are security guards stationed in the lobby. I would never bring my girlfriend here again; it just didn't have a 'safe' vibe whatsoever.

Handyman Special - Needs lots of TLC
By ,
I guess we'll start out with the positives, because there were a couple. The sheets were clean, the beds were comfortable and the staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. Unfortunately most of our experience was horrible. In our 1st room......the dresser drawers were all broken and had no glides on them, They just fell out. The alarm clock was broken and there were foreign hairs in the tub. The room had an awful odor and there was a huge stain in the carpeting just outside of the room that looked like maybe it had been a crime scene. We immdeiately went down to the front desk and asked for a new room. The staff person was very helpful and didn't seem too surprised but our complaint. Our 2nd room was much cleaner, smelled better but we soon found out that the toilet leaked all over the floor every time you flushed it. There was also very little hot water. We took cold baths/showers. We kept the room, afraid of what the 3rd room might look like, and bought cleaning supplies to disinfect the floor. In general, all of the hallways were filthy and badly stained. One elevator broke down and people had to be rescued off of it. There was a 20 minute wait to take the remaining elevator down to the lobby. Some people were walking down the stairs with babies in strollers because the wait was so long. Unless you have a very strong immune system, (and a strong stomach), I'm sure you can do much better that this hotel. The staff did what they could to make things right, but the hotel is what it is. No maintenance, bad cleaning staff, but very friendly desk clerks. This place should be shut down by Red Roof and fully remodeled before it gives the whole chain a bad name.
