Fantastic!
By Merrill K, 12/28/09
My partner and I spent Christmas Eve at the hotel. The hotel was busy, but service at the front desk was great. Our room on the 33rd floor had a great view and was very clean. The only negatives were that the elevator was slow, due to a conference and the TV had only basic, unless you wanted to pay extra. The breakfast was included, which was pretty good. The staff was great and if you are a Gold Member, you really do get great service. It's a large hotel, but I think the service was first class, as were the rooms.

The Best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/01/09
Everyone was wonderful, but Rocco was great. He went above and beyond. My son spilled hot chocolate on the carpet and was very embaressed/upset. Rocco bought him another one and candy for him and his sister. The whole hotel was great and my mom said she will only stay there. Thank-you!

Definite Return Trip
By Terry, 11/02/09
The location is second to none. Easy access to drive in, check in, etc. The bed itself gave me the best nights sleep in a long time. The staff, everyone from the valet's to the front desk clerks, to the maids were so friendly and helpful in answering any questions. The Magnificent Mile, Millineum Park, Navy Pier and so much more within walking distance. We will be back!

Great Time!
By StephenB, 10/22/09
Went there for my wife's birthday and the hotel was great. The only thing was when we first got there at 9pm on friday the check-in line was really long and only 3 people helping. You couldn't ask for a better location right next to Mich. Ave. and on the river. Can't wait to go back.

Bistro at 151 gratuity mess
By Farrah, 09/28/09
I recently statyed at the Hyatt and enjoyed the hotel for the most part until I reviewed my checking account upon returning home and realized that the Bistro at 151 charged $16.87 more to the original bill. I marked N/A in the gratuity area of the receipt since we paid the tip in cash. On the menu it stated that if you had a party of six a 15% gratuity would be automatically added to the bill; however, since we were a party of four, I was flustered by the extra amount. Please check your credit/debit card immediately to make sure that the amount that you specified be debited from your card is said amount and not another amount that the staff felt deemed fit to charge to card at your expense. This one event made me rethink staying at the Hyatt Regency/Chicago in the future.

Get a time stamp on your receipt
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/27/09
Location = Great. Just make sure you ask for a time stamp on your receipt when you check out. We thought we were getting a great deal when we got a stay at this hotel on Priceline for $60. After checking out a 7:30 AM to head to the Shedd Aquarium before we left for home, a $60 late check out fee showed up on our CC.

We got a great deal on our room and after staying there, I know why. Like so many others said, it was a great location and that is about it. We were charged for every little thing (no wifi? lobby charge for internet), the room interior was dated and the lobby areas looked like they had seen better days. Oh, and the staff? the rudest people we encountered in all of Chicago. Of course, everyone else we met were pretty nice, but the hotel folks were singularly unhelpful, smug and defensive.

I hate to say it...
By BeppyCat, 08/28/09
... But this hotel kinda sucks. It seems to me that the fancier a hotel, the more they nickel and dime you on the little things. You could stay at a Mariott and get much better service and amenities. They don't have all the cable channels, they charge for internet, breakfast, and parking. The room was very cramped and pretty run down. There were even anchors in the wall where a picture had hung, but was torn down. The view from the room was, literally, into the windows on the other tower of the hotel, and an office building. This hotel may offer nice views, but only if you are on the higher floors and only if you are on the correct side of the building. The laws of averages will tell you, you aren't likely to get a great view when there are so many other rooms in the hotel. At three in the morning we were woken by crashing and banging down the hall. I got up to check that the chain lock was still in place on the door, and looked out the peep hole. I saw a man come up to our door and try the handle, then start banging very hard and very loudly on our door. I went to the phone and called security, who told me that personel were on their way. I don't blame the hotel much for the man being there, it's not like they can do psycholoigcal screenings or something, but we were never contacted afterward to find out if we were okay, to apologize for the incident, or to offer any compensation. They just ignored that it happened, and not another thing was said about it. I would truly reccomend saving your money, and staying at a much less expensive hotel with better amenities. Check to see if breakfast and internet access are included in the price of the room, because these things make staying at certain hotels a much better value.
