horrible stay!

there was barf in the whirlpool and kids running everywhere! hows a man supposed to have a decent stay with little kids running everywhere! the pool had mold growing in it and the restrooms were disgusting. There was a clog of hair in the sink too! i will never go there again! they also asked if i needed a lift up the stairs because of my weight! i have glandular problems!

dissapointment

We only stayed 1 night. I reserved 2 rooms. One with a king, and one with 2 doubles. They put 4 of us in the king room, and the other 2 in the double. We switched on our own. They did not tell us that the hot tub was not working. In the double room there was only 2 packs of coffee, both decaf. In the king room there was 4 packs of coffee, 2 regular, and 2 decaff. In the double room there was only 1 roll of tp, and in the king room 3 rolls. There were no extra pillows in the room, when we asked for 2 extra they come up with blankets because they were out of pillows. Also you do not get free breakfast unless you upgrade (Pay more for the same room you have). I would never stay at this hotel ever again, and dont advise it unless you just want to sleep.

Family Reunion gone awry

My wife and I had the worse experience that we've ever had at a hotel. On the first night, there were kids running all over the place, opening and closing doors and being disrespecful. We complained to management, but nothing was done about it. On the second night, it was de ja vous all over again. On the third night, it was more of the same but this time they offered us an upgrade. Needless to say it was a day late and a dollar short. If you want to enjoy your stay in Matteson I would not advise staying here. I forgot to mention that our room had a foul odor in it as well. If you decide to stay here you'll be sorry. And the picture on the web site is not accurate because where there was once a fountain it is now a mud hole. Please stay away if you enjoy your happiness.

Confused

Ask many questions when booking with this site. Holds on credit cards after cash payments, $50.00 Sec dep if paying in cash. Mgr big traveler and always encounters this. I have stayed at places off the charts better than this, without the hassles I had at check in. I have stayed at many Holiday Inns and never encountered the issues faced with at check in at the Matteson facility. Not very trusting of customers. I was there for a small conference. Not sure if they just did not trust US.

Look Again:)

I was a guest at the Holiday Inn Matteson on March 1st, 2008. I took my kids ages 4 and 9 and they loved it. The rooms were clean, the pool area was huge, and they staff was very friendly. Kudos to the Front Desk staff. My husband and I did not have a resevation because it was not planned. They were able to offer me a very reasonable rate and they were sooooooo friendly. Mike and Louis are truly assets to the hotel. When I told them it was my sons birthday, they both began to sing Happy Birthday to him in front of the other hotel guests. My son was so excited. They even gave him a bad of candy at the Front Desk. I will continue to tell everyone I know what a great hotel this is.

Excellent Service

I have been to the Holiday Inn 2 times in the last 4 months. My company Francorp arrranges for me to stay there. The facility is very clean and the service is second to none. The food is excellent and the pool area is huge! Again, the service I recieved is second to none. 5 stars!!! I can't wait to return to the area.

Great Hotel!!

I have been a loyal customer of the Holiday Inn Tinley Park for a number of years. Recently my I made a reservation in Matteson because Tinley was full. The hotel was very clean and the staff was friendly. I will continue to use them.

Low Management Integrity

We recently took our grandchildren on a holiday weekend in Chicago. Via the Holiday Inn Website, I booked one overnight stay for Saturday September 1,2007. I received a confirmation through the hotels online system. When I arrived after a hard day at the museums with the grands, I was told that my reservation was cancelled. When I asked why. The supervisor said my credit card was denied. I thought this was odd. I have never had this happen before. I'd been using my credit card all day. I contacted my bank and discovered that the hotel never even ran the card. I was 300 miles away from home with tired little ones. Needless to say, I was furious! I suspect they had over booked the hotel and was using that lame excuse for unsuspecting guest. The hotel supervisor told me there were rooms at the Days Inn across the street. When I went to the Days Inn I was told that there were no vacancies. They said that I was the fourth person that the Holiday Inn had sent to them with the same story. I complained to Holiday Inn Guest Services and they couldn't even get a straight answer out this hotel. I would like to warn all travelers that there is there is somethng rotten in this place. Something called BUSINESS INTEGRITY. The least they could have done was call--They have my contact information as I am a member of the priority club.

SWEPT OFF MY FEET

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Matteson and I was left 100% speechless. I was totally swept off my feet. When I first arrived, I was greeted with a friendy smile and a very warm "WELCOME TO THE HOLIDAY INN MATTESON". I really appreciated this because I don't usually get this kind of greeting. The Front Desk staff was extremely polite and well trained! Tameka got me checked-in very quickly and Mike the Front Desk Supervisor called me a few minutes after I arrived and again "WELCOMED" me to the hotel. Very nice touch. I felt like I was a rock star!! Well after I check-in to my room, I returned to the Front Desk to see what options I had for dinner. When I arrived at the Front Desk, I was greated by Larry the Front Office Manager. He said I would have to look no further than the infamous "Falling Water's" located inside the hotel. He even walked me over there and made sure I was seated. What a guy! I got a real sense that he REALLY enjoyed his job. I had a wonderful meal! The food was out of this world. Just when I was about to pay, I was then greeted by Mr. Kleopa the food and beverage director. I don't think I stopped laughing until I got back to my room. His laugh was so contagious!!! He asked me how everything was and seemed so concerned. Safety at this location was not even an issue. I took a walk down to the pool and was immediatly greeted by a uniformed security officer. He opened the door for me and made sure I had a towel after I got out of the pool. The rooms were very clean and the beds were like sleeping on a cloud! WOW!! When It was time to checkout, Patricia asked me how my stay was. I;ll never forget her because her hair was gorgeous and her uniform was in pristine condition. I can't wait to go back.

Sorely Disappointed

For a hotel with 5 years of high ratings for Southland Chicago and rates nearing $100, this was a disappointing stay. For starters, I was traveling with my mother, and they put us at opposite ends of the hotel. We ordered 2 non-smoking room, and it was un-clear whether we were in smoking rooms or not. It didn't matter though as there were 2 wings and the smoking and non-smoking rooms were mixed into BOTH wings. Normally hotels separate the rooms when they can. We both had neighbors who were smoking and the smell was very strong. Further, although they offered free internet via WIFI, at times it was incredibly slow even though the hotel had few people in it. The Holidome was in the middle of a re-model therefore closed. One reason I selected this hotel was due to the full sized pool, hot tub and weight room and paid about $20 per room per day for this. Both the hot tub and pool were closed and I did not find out until I went to go use the, not at registration or when I reserved the rooms, we would have gone somewhere else. The HVAC system was either hot or cold and the fan would not shut off when not being used, and as in most hotels you had to fix the drapes so all of the air didn't go up the drapes which overhung the heater. From an environmental standpoint, the put out USA Today's (not even one of the great Chicago papers with national news) even without asking, how many trees do they cut down for this just for people who don't read the paper or especially that one? Also, there were no provisions for re-suing the towels saving water. Water may be in great supply in Chicago, but is is NO in other areas of the country and the more they use here is less we have elsewhere. And finally for a hotel with such high rating and price, the service was only average, room service had limited hours and the service in the restaurant at breakfast (no free breakfast) was average to poor and average food, I've had better at Denny's. The rooms were clean however.
