Hotel 43, Boise

We were thoroughly dissappointed with this "four star" hotel! We went there for our anniversary and it was the wort experience ever. We arrived and it started out okay, but then we were asked if we wanted to pay for parking at the hotel. Hello! we have to pay parking to stay at our hotel. Anyway, we got to the room and it was nice nothing spectacular. The bathroom was TEENY! The toilet is between the bathtub and the sink, and if the door were to open while you were on the toilet, it would defenitely hit your knees. There were two water bottles for us to drink and found out later we were charged six dollars for them...when i asked about the charge, they said that every other hotel charged for water and she said they have "free" water down at the lobby if we wanted. They boasted on their website about movies on demand...which they do not actually have..."they are working on it". Customer service was not great, not very proffesional for a four star hotel. I was miserable the whole time. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Too expensive for what you are getting.

During our stay, we were celebrating our 26th wedding anniversary. The dinner at Chandler's was excellent and we were both blown away by the jazz singing of Brianne Bower that night. The bed was most comfortable and staff very pleasant. The only complaint we had was the elevator on the left side kept getting stuck... which made us a little nervous to take it. We look forward to many more weekend get aways at Hotel 43, but in the mean time have become frequent visitors to Chandler's for their great food and fantastic jazz music.

I booked a large group here weeks in advance of our meeting - only to receive a call a day or two before our event, saying that Hotel 43 was overbooked and would some of our hotel guests mind DOUBLING UP. This hotel positions itself as very upscale and their goofy telephone "script" requires each of their people to end the greeting with "HOW MAY WE INSPIRE YOU?" It is an annoying, too-long, embarrassing, pretentious piece of schlock. After being asked to have my business travelers SHARE ROOMS, I remain UNDERINSPIRED. I would not risk booking business travelers here again - or recommend it to anyone I LIKE. This is not the first time our guests have been underwhelmed by this joint. AND it is absurdly overpriced for what it is - they spent a lot of money on the remodel - but they missed the mark on hospitality & professionalism.

I stayed at the new Hotel 43. I experienced rude custmer service from the front desk staff. The gentleman who help was cold and didn't even say hello? When this hotel used to be the Statehouse Inn, it was great. The service was great and you even got to park for free and have a free breakfast. The now Hotel 43 charges you to park and the breakfast is not longer free. What a shame to change something that was so great. I will say the rooms were nice and comfy, too bad they didn't have a fridge or microwave in it though.

The bed, was the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in. The down comforter and pillows were wonderful. The staff was very friendly and the hotel location was so convenient to all the places in the Boise area we wanted to go to.

The new ownership (Hotel 43) is running people away. I stood and watched as a young man with a foreign accent was turned away because he didn't have a credit card. (He had a whole wad of traveler's checks...) The staff isn't empowered to make any decisions, and the policies are anal retentive and unfriendly to long-term users. Only if you are a big bucks corporate traveler is this worth your while. I've stayed hunderds of times but won't be back.

We loved our stay at the Statehouse Inn in Boise. It compared to the more exclusive like the Wyndham or Plaza in cleanliness, service, and quality of food and linens. We loved room service which arrived quickly and served more food than we could eat at a reasonable price! I felt so spoiled waking up to chocolate truffles delivered to our room and our Free champaigne breakfast! My husband enjoyed blueberry pancakes (more blueberries than batter), and I enjoyed Prime Rib and eggs. We can't wait to go back!!
