Marc Suites not what I expected!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/7/04
If you are looking for a place to stay and not luxury, stay there. My family rented a 2 bedroom suite, it only had one television in three rooms. I also had a problem with the doors not closing completely, it needs a extreme makeover. The staff at Marc Suites were wonderful. Next time a go to Oahu I will stay somewhere else.

Acceptable
Based you some of the reviews, I was a little frighten as to what to expect. So I went prepared for the worst. We spend a week there this past March. Our room was acceptable. I wiped down the entire room for my comfort. Yes, the building is old and especially the bathroom can use some renovating. The carpet could use a good steam cleaning. But our room and the hotel were acceptable. Although; we spend most of our time out of the hotel, touring, shopping etc., we did feel safe while we were there. I had no intention of cooking, but we did use the refrigerator for water and beverages and microwave once to heat a sandwich. My husband and I was in a PH one bedroom suite, we were cool. I admit, I probably would feel different if I had small children with me. The wind was too strong to kick it on the balcony. I do recommend this hotel for a place to lay your head down and feel safe while seeing Hawaii. I agree with most, the staff were very friendly.

Terrible
By Angela, 5/22/07
We arrived and left in the same hour. The airconditioning didnt work the hotel want very clean, and others around the island told us that the marc suites is where the ladys of the night bring their men. Not an ideal place for a family vacation.

Can't wait to go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/31/05
I've stayed at this hotel several times and while it may not be the most up to date and luxurious hotel it's clean and comfortable. I will definately be staying here again on my next holiday. The staff are friendly and helpful, and it's in a great location.

AN EXPERIENCE
By Valencia, 5/31/06
My best friend of 25 years and I recently spent six nights at the Marc Suites Hotel. There where a number of reasons we finally choose this particular hotel. 1. It was inexpensive for our stay as we are budget travelers 2. Parking was $10.00 per night and we were guaranteed a spot each day. In Waikiki that is a must have. 3. Close proximity to beaches, shops, restaurantsetc. 4. Hosts a Thursday night Managers Mia Tai party 5. Has a Mexican Restaurant on the property 6. An outdoor pool area 7. Activities Desk 8. Gift Shop 9. Guest laundry 10. Kitchenette Now I will tell you the reasons we wished we had not chosen this Hotel. 1. While it was inexpensive for our stay it was the noisiest hotel Ive ever stayed at in my life. You can hear conversations from those out on their lanai (while sitting in your room with the doors closed), children in their rooms screaming and playing on the lanai, young adults partying on the lanai till all hours of the nightetc. But the worst experience was that we could smell the food being cooked next door to us EVERYDAY, evening and morning. The vent above the kitchenette was like a hose that pushed the smell into your room. It was awful especially because the food STUNK!!!!!!!!!! Our entire room stunk everyday and night from the smell. So much so we never ate in our room. 2. Parking.while we were told it was only $10.00/daily from Expedia the price was $14.00 when we arrived at the hotel. After our complaints one of the hotel staff credited our parking and we paid $10/daily. Make sure you check this! 3. The hotel is within walking distance to most anythingbeach, night club, shops, ABC store, restaurants, starbucksetc. 4. THERE IS NO MANAGERS MIA TAI PARTY AT THIS HOTEL. Again, when we asked about this perk it was no longer an option! 5. THERE IS NO MEXICAN RESTAURANT OR ANY RESTAURANT ON THE PROPERTY. Again, Expedia lists this but it doesnt exist. We were told that the restaurant was closed a long while ago but Expedia continues to lists it along with other non-existing items. 6. Pool area is nice. It is a cute tiled pool with nice seating areas, vending machines and is kept very clean. 7. Activities Desk.hmmm there is a stand with brochures. There is also a lady who comes in, sits at a desk and tries to sale tours. She isnt very friendly and we were told that it would be impossible for us to do two things in one day. We wanted to go to Pearl Harbor and the Swap Meet. I think because we werent buying a tour to do these things she was trying to discourage us. WE DID BOTH ON OUR OWN WITH TIME TO SPARE!!!! This would not have been such an ordeal had she not been so rude. 8. Never visited the gift shop. Saw it while walking from the pool but didnt go inside. 9. OK, the laundry facility is a stackable sitting outside the gift shop by the pool area. Didnt use it. 10. Kitchenettedidnt cook, you were explained why, but did use the frig for our drinks which we purchased at the ABC store. How about some good news about the hotel!!!!!!! We did receive a complimentary newspaper each morning. The beds were actually pretty comfortable. We did not have to request a hair dryerit was in our bathroom. Air conditioner worked properly. Our room did not smell like smoke. The hotel is right next door to a great Wine Bar! THIS PLACE IS A MUST. WE HAD THE BEST TIME THERE!!!!!!! ABC store is on the corner and they have just about everything you might need. Within walking distance is a great Mexican food restaurantCha,Cha,Chas Mexican food After reading this review one might assume that we didnt enjoy our trip. WE DID! These things didnt really bother us, except foreign frying meat Freddy and his stench but all in all it was a great vacation. ITS ALL ABOUT THE EXPEREINCEAND IT WAS AN EXPERIENCE.

Pests and moldy tile!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/5/08
We found the hotel antiquated and in serious need of updating. The bathroom's moldy black tile easily belied it's 60 year age. I doubt it had been updated in that amount of time. There was a strong chemical smell when we exited the elevator on the 7th floor and a sign warned of a recent "spraying for pests", and cautioned you to "warn management if you were sensitive to the fumes". Yuk!! When asked what kind of "pests" they were spraying for, the desk clerk mumbled something about "ants".....ya right! We could hardly wait to leave. The clerks were very nice and knowledgeable however, and the fellow who acted as a doorman was adorable.

Disappointing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/10/06
Very worn decor. 'Complimentary poolside breakfast' consisted on ONE very sweet tasteless muffin,a glass of cordial (thought it would at least be real fruit juice) and burnt instant coffee (how did they do that??). Wallpaper in room was peeling. Rusty metal in bathroom. Noisy, inefectual airconditioner. Woken after midnight by staff member entering room, thinking it was not occupied, for their own personal use. Wake up call never came - nearly missed flight as consequence. This place is in desperate need of maintenance. Would not stay there again.
