Dont stay at the Double Tree Alana Waikiki
By Island Wahine, 3/24/12
I live in Hawaii and I can tell you this is the WORST hotel I have ever been too. We just stayed there last week March 16 to be exact. If you are using any type of points, beware, they will NOT care about you! This hotel is right next to a homeless shelter, it is so filthy, there was bugs on our bed, I actually had to call the front desk for 6 new sheets so I could cover everything even the couches were super gross there was hair stuck to our sofa, the sofa bed had no linens, we had to ask for them and then the hotel worker who brought them was not friendly at all it was like we were bothering him and they are the ones who forgot to leave it. The pools is super duper small, the weightroom can only handle 1 or 2 people at a time, but there are some machines for cardio work outs. They only have valet parking and they take FOREVER to "find" your car. One of the valets almost hit my car that was driven by another valet. Hilton hotel --- NOT EVEN CLOSE. Dont stay here. Seriously you will be sorry...Oh and the "continential breakfast" is like $15.00 a person, you are better off going to IHOP same price, but you get to sit in a nice restraunt... Im lucky I live here, I checked out early and went home.... But if you are a tourist, you pretty much have to try and find an available hotel. The front desk people "accidently stamped my parking ticket to say free continental breakfast, when we went to get the breakfast, they said sorry that was a mistake and you cannot have the breakfast

LOVED THIS HOTEL
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/27/11
The layout of the hotel was wonderful. The staff was very nice and helpful. A group of about 100 of us were in Hawaii for a b-ball tournament and were treated like royalty by the school system and hotel. The hotel is located a nice distance from the Beach but it's a beautiful walk. I give the staff 2 thumbs up but not the internet access. You had to be on the 3rd floor or below to gett free internet other than that it was very expensive to connect.

Lacks the standard Hilton quality
By SMH, 12/7/09
To say that I was surprised at the lack of Hilton quality that I experienced at this hotel would putting it mildly. I'm a Hilton Honors member and currently hold their Gold VIP status and I enjoy the quality that Hilton brings to all their different properties. I would the describe the rooms at the Doubletree as being "tired" and "worn". The bathroom is extremly out-dated and the bathtub would best be described as a shower stall with a "two-foot lip". HONOLULU MARATHONERS TAKE NOTE - I'm only 5 feet tall and I could not fully extend my legs in their shower/tub combo. Every drain is clogged and depending on when you take your shower; you may only have tepid water. Good luck with using the internet. It is a pay-per-day fee and at times my WIRED connection was so bad that I would watch as my Yahoo homepage would slowly load. This presented a huge problem when I would need VPN access for work. During the nine days that I stayed at this hotel I found only one person at the front desk and one person in the restaurant that did their job well. I didn't rent a car so I don't know how quickly the valet staff operated but they seemed to be able to quickly assist me in calling a cab to the hotel. The hotel is currently in renovation - for their lower lobby, lobby and mezzanine levels only. The workout room has been nicely updated and from what I can see, the meeting rooms should look nice as well. And of course, the chocolate chip cookie was great.

Don't stay here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By Katrena, 7/20/09
The hotel was our choice at the last minute after the ilikai closed all at once during the week of July 8. We checked in the rooms were smelly, possibly mildew and mold. The showers had mold growing inside of them. We asked for another room to be given one with a little less mold growing. Tried to leave early but was told had to pay a 50 dollar early check out fee. They offered a 50th state deal which was not a deal. We were told we would have 50 dollars deducted from our last night but later found out you had to use the 50 dollars as a credit for their dining, a spa or something else. Total rip off. Not at all a Hilton Hotel.

There are a lot better choices!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/9/09
We could not tolerate the mold/mildew smell. The Embassy Suites is so much better, especially if you ask for a view of the pool. There are many many other hotels that are closer to the beach, or right on the beach rather than the Doubletree.

Would not stay here again!
By Disappointment, 1/1/09
We were at this hotel for 1 week during Christmas time. Check in was bad because they could not find any connecting room at 1st and later found one but it was 1 king for one room and 2 queen beds for the 2nd room. Our original plan was 2 rooms with 2 queen beds per room. We had to pay extra for a rolled away bed each night. The room was small and the bathroon was the most disappointing thing - the tub was so small and I am a petite person and it is very small to me. The room had that muddy smell and I am not sure why. I will not stay here again the next time in HI!

DO NOT STAY HERE!
By Deborah, 11/7/08
I found the rooms shabby and out of date. Tried to cancel (48 hours in advance), but was forced to pay for one night because of 72 hour cancellation policy. Is it fair? I think not, but they fought hard based on the "written policy". Shame on you Doubletree!

Disappointment
By regina, 3/18/08
Our stay at the Double Tree Alana Hotel in Honolulu last week proved to be somewhat disappointing. The staff at the desk were very cordial, the room itself was just okay - the rug was buckled in areas and certainly didn't look fresh - the bathroom left a whole lot to be desired -- that tub measured 22" by 33"! And the shelf over the sink made it impossible to use the sink comfortably. The fitness area was outdoors facing a brick wall by the pool and consisted of two broken treadmills, one elliptical machine that did not work properly and a bike with a seat that could not be adjusted. The elevators were soooo slow, but our biggest concern was with our balconies. Both had deep cracks in the structures - one of the rails was actually loosened -- I took pictures of this, should you care to review them. The location was fine for us as I wanted an area I could walk in. We were literally down the street from the big Hilton which I enjoyed visiting, but I am surprised and saddened to think the Hilton would accept this Double Tree hotel as part of their hotel family.

great hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/4/08
Very friendly staff, great rate next to waikiki beach. The pool is really nice and the penthouse is superb. The breakfast buffet is only 11.00, very good deal for Waikiki. Valet parking only @ 22.00 per night.

We will stay there every time we go back!
By Kathy B, 7/10/07
It was in a great location and amazing price. The romance package was an unbelievable price. It made my husband and my honeymoon unforgettable. There is a little restaurant on the corner right next door call Cheeseburger Waikiki. The best Cheeseburger ever! The beach is in walking distance and so are some of the best shops. The breakfast was mediocre and the sparling wine not very good but their cookies they give you when you check in are amazing! If anyone asked me I would tell them to stay here!
