Would stay here again!
By ,
First time to Hawaii. This was a beautiful place to stay. We were on the upper floors with a beautiful view of the ocean, the city and the mountains. We had our two sons with us, and the room was perfect size. Very clean. My oldest son likes to play golf and had a small course within walking distance. We were close to everything. Great restaurants, great shopping and of course the beaches. Just down the street was a coffeehouse where you could sip your morning coffee while watching the early morning surfers out in Waikiki. Made for the perfect beginning to the day. The outdoor market is within walking distance and had everything you could want. People were friendly and welcoming. We would defiently use this hotel again.

Just left and ready to return!!!!
By ,
This was our second visit to this hotel. Will return as soon as possible!!! Rooms were clean, housekeeper came everyday, elevators re-done and very fast, pretty and modernized. Kitchen had almost everything. Ours lacked a toaster tho. Oven/stove worked well. Bed was great. Pool tiles slippery, so be careful. Basketball/Tennis court is great. Lots of happy kids on play area. BBQ's were great. Smelled so good in evening! Has outdoor seating too. Just leave your slider open all day and night and enjoy the clean air, the views, the smell of the flowers, and the occasional feathery friend,(don't feed'em and they will leave.) Please plan and bring food stuffs from home: ie; salt/pepper, cereal, tuna, mayo, bread, bagels, peanut butter, cream cheese, lunch meats, etc. There is no problem on the plane with these. These items are avail at Walmart, Safeway etc but are triple the price of mainland. Even with extra charge of additional suitcase, you would save big bucks in meals and food-stuffs. We took these items in 07 and didn't this year and spent at least $3-400 on just basic food. SAM'S CLUB is above Walmart in Ala Moana area. Pizza's are double but the rotisserie chicken is SAME PRICE!!! Note on fast food: Waikiki beach walk/Kalakaua Ave doubles the prices, other parts of island still has value menus and only slightly more for meals. Note: eat all your fruit before you board to go home. Can't eat the fruit on plane. Can take sandwiches with you on plane at any time. A little planning will make your vacation affordable and more enjoyable. There are parks everywhere, just wait 5 minutes and the weather will change, Oahu and the Banyan are our home away from home and well worth the time and money. Desk clerks helpful, operators helpful, parking helpful. Just go and enjoy!!!!!! PS: 'Croc" type shoes are great in the water!!!

Just what we were looking for
By ,
For our trip to Hawaii, we wanted a place that was close to the beach and had some sort of kitchen so we could at least make breakfast rather than eat out. We didn't want to be paying 5 star prices. The Waikiki Banyan looked perfect from what we could read from their website and other Internet reviews. Is it new? Nope Is it 5 star? Nope Is it showing its age? Absolutely That said, our room 2212 in Tower 2 had a decent view of the ocean, a queen bed and a hide-a-bed sofa, dishes to feed 6. Everything was clean. The furniture was worn - couch cushions had to be flipped the right way or worn through patches showed and the sliding bathroom door needed aligning - it couldn't be closed completely. The mattress on the queen bed was very firm - at home, I use a medium soft pillow top mattress so I noticed the difference but my wife didn't - we both slept well - something about full days in Hawaii leaving you ready to sleep I guess. We had great service from all the staff - cleaning, counter staff, at the coffee shop - everywhere. But then we didn't ask for much so were likely easy to accomodate. Overall, I would strongly recommend this hotel. Its a very good mid-level hotel with in-room kitchens. It was clean, it was quiet, it was close to everything. We would definitely stay there again.

Nice room. Great views.
By ,
My husband and I and our two teenage boys stayed in room 3213 for two nights in August 2008. We had a great view of Diamond Head, Koko Head, Kapiolani Park and the ocean on the lanai side, and an even better ocean view from the small kitchen window. We enjoyed watching the surfers from the kitchen. The room was similar to a large one bedroom apartment. It was clean, quiet and had no bugs. It's pretty high up, so those with a fear of heights may want to avoid looking down. We enjoyed being able to close a sliding door and have a separate bedroom. The kids used the pullout sofa and a rollaway in the living room. The laundry room was next door, which was convenient and wasn't a noise problem. The beach is an easy 5 minute walk away. In Waikiki, oceanviews don't necessarily mean beachfront. The service was simply excellent.

Good Hotel

It was pleasant and convenient to everything. The tour desk was very helpful and we arranged out island hopping events at the desk. Nothing fancy but good service and a nice room.

First time in Hawaii
By ,
Did not know what to expect when we arrived. We expected to have to pay for a cot, the front desk agent says no need for one as you have plenty of room. Sure enough we had 2 doubles, and sofa bed. Rooms were dated but clean. Close to beach, bus stop right out front. Would stay there again. In fact my wife and her mother are going this coming February.

Good value for families
By ,
Found out that each room are individually owned and only managed by ResortQuest. Most owners live outside of Hawaii which is why some rooms are decorated in the 1970s style while others are more updated. Resort Quest make repairs when needed but cannot update furniture etc, without the owner's consent. I was told that they will be forcing the owners to comply but only time will tell. I hope ResortQuest can get all of the units up to the same level then the ratings would be similar - rather than all over the board. All in all, this was an ok place to stay and a good value for the money.

Motel 6 is better
By ,
Two bedrooms means 1 bedroom and a pull out sofa. Restrooms are old, tiny, dirty. Queen size beds means full size and very hard. Carpet is dirty and old. No bar or restaurant at the swimming pool. Hotel is 2 blocks from the beach. There are coin operated bbq grills.

Annual trip to our oasis
By ,
The complex is amazing! 1 easy block to the ocean, pool, laundry and PARKING! (you know how tough it is in Waikiki for your car) Been coming annually for 6 years and have never had a problem, sub-standard units or difficulties. LOVE IT!
