No beach to be found

After a long day fighting the airlines and being rerouted all over we ended up spending a night here thinking a night in Maui would be better than getting into our final destination incredibly late. We couldn't have been been more wrong.
The up side of the hotel has to be the friendliness of the staff and proximity to the airport. Aside from that there isn't much to recommend. The rooms are very small and not some place you'd want to spend any amount of time. After only an hour or so here we'd already started trying to find out if we could get an earlier flight out of town. There isn't any way that there has been a recent renovation of the facility (as indicated in another review) as everything looks to be from the early 80's.
The hotel is located on a busy main street in town and you can hear the road from your room. That is if the jet engine of an AC unit doesn't drown out the cars. The busy road also means that almost everything is a huge problem to walk to. You'd expect a place with "beach" in its name to be close to the beach. It's located on the bay looking out at the harbor and shipping traffic. We weren't able to find anything resembling a beach within walking distance. In fact to get any where you'll need a car. Which is really what this place amounts to, an upscale motel. If you have your own transportation and only need a cheep place to crash the place is OK. For anything else I'd steer clear. You get what you pay for as they say.
