Kona Seaside Hotel, Kailua Kona

We have stayed here three times. Like many of the reviews said, it's not luxury. But, it is clean, convenient, and we've always found the staff friendly and accommodating. Hint: ask for a coffee maker and microwave. They'll immediately bring them to your room. Another hint: do use the bar on the sliding door. Theft can be a problem. Last hint: do opt for the smallest car you can get. The parking spaces are tiny. I guess they listened when someone said they needed more parking spaces. Be careful what you wish for. The grounds are gorgeous with two pools and a lanai overlooking the ocean and Alii Drive. The rooms are basic, but clean. And, great news, THE TOWELS ARE LARGER NOW....not huge, but they cover......you get the picture. Yeah! Location is great. Convenient to pier, shops, restaurants, etc. Sure, you can get a luxury room elsewhere, but how much time are you really going to spend in your room? Kona Seaside makes the trip affordable. We've looked around and keeping going back.

Nice clean room at a fair price and close to the beach and with in walking distance of great sites, restaurants, and shops. Nothing fancy but no fancy price either. I would stay there again.

It was an ok motel like place. We didnt have any problems with parking and staff was very friendly when we needed to cribs brought to our room. The king size bed we had was very comfortable and the air conditioner worked. What more can ask for? :)

We could have overlooked the fact that the hotel is worn out and the staff seemed listless and unhelpful. But the real problem was that the hotel has many, many more rooms than there are parking spaces. We arrived, with reservations, at about 6:00 PM and were told that all of the parking spaces had been "sold." Staff told us that we should try to park in a nearby municipal parking lot--which we immediately discovered was completely full with several cars circling the area hoping for a space to open up. We circled the lot for almost half an hour until, by a sudden stroke of luck, two spaces opened up and there was only one car ahead of us in that area of the lot. After parking we had to slog back to the hotel through pouring rain with our feet and bags getting soaked. Once in the parking lot there was no way we wanted to take our car out again to go cruising looking for dinner, so we were basically trapped as the rain continued to fall. It was a really bad experience and ruined any sort of good time we might have hoped to have in Kona!

If you like clean rooms, comfortable bed and good location this is the place. If you don't like postage size towels and pillows, paying for parking and not having a hair dryer you better go someplace else.

This hotel is in a fantastic location, easy walk from lots of great restaurants and shopping. Accommodation is basic, rooms are clean and staff is very friendly and helpful. Could use more parking spaces.

The location was great, but that was the only good thing about our experience there. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, the room was extremely outdated, the water barely a trickle and the towels the size of a postage stamep. Our room was on the second level and it wasn't fun hauling our 50+ pound suitcases up the stairs. We were afraid to have the room cleaned because we had noticed the maids leaving doors to the rooms open while they cleaned the bathrooms and were totally out of sight. Anybody could've reached in and stolen the camera gear and other items that were within reach. It was amazing that there wasn't any coffee in the lobby and no hair dryers in the room! I asked for a hair dryer and they were "out". I absolutely will not go back and will not recommend this hotel to anyone.

During my stay in Kona, I stayed at three different places, Islander inn, Uncle billy's and Kona Seaside hotel. I liked the seaside hotel the best for the money. It is nice and clean with spacious room and balcony. Two thumbs up from me.

The Kona Seaside is a great hotel in general, although it's more like a motel if you ask me. If you're on a budget and not picky about accomodations then this place to stay. It's a very convenient location (at the north end of town and close to the highway), extremely affordable, very clean and the service was fine. It's not a high end hotel, so if you're expecting the lap of luxury, than this isn't the place for you. My boyfriend and I stayed 8 nights and didn't have one problem. My one complaint (like so many others before) is that you have to pay to park (an extra $6 per day. Plus, the spaces are small. SUV's cram themselves into the tiny spots making parking difficult. One night we found public parking up the street because we couldn't get into a space in the hotel lot.

This was a great hotel for the price. Don't expect a Hilton Deluxe Suite, but it was clean and well worth every penny. Make sure to ask for a room facing the garden, and away from the main road. Totally worth it. Parking was a little tight, but if you are in by 10 pm you can get a spot. Do yourself a favor and go for the small compact car. The spaces are really tight and if you have a hard time parking this will be interesting for you. Great Location, Block from Ocean, Relax on the Lanai, and have fun!
