Murray from the Long Island
It took about 2 days to figure out how the A/C worked, but once we did, it was wonderful. The pool was nice to look at, but we didn't come to Hawai'i to swim in a pool. We loved being wakened in the morning by tropical birds singing in the palms outside the lana'i, and the view on the harbor was particularly striking, especially when the cruise ships were parked offshore. The sky was always blue, except for the clouds, that rolled in every morning and afternoon; but we were rarely around to bother with that!
What was wonderful was having a refrigerator and stove; because dining out for three meals every day is over-whelming!
The bed (we had a king) was very comfy, the room was clean, although the shower steamed a bit much.
The staff was welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere, relaxed, and there was easy access to the beaches, and the main highway around the island. We DO recommend a visit to the Greenwell Farms (Coffee Plantation!), which is only about a ten or fifteen minute drive from the location.
For what we paid, it was certainly a steal!
