Awful! Never stay here!
By ,
The Billfisher in Kona is awful! The staff is mean and unhelpful. The unit was unclean (we found a dead cockroach in the bathtub and dead spiders along the baseboards.) They do not provide pool towels, and make you buy your own. No amenities, and only change your bedding once a week (gross!) No free Wifi or A/C. The management is rude. They left us rude messages on the phone and on our cars for having an extra car, even though they said it was OK at check-in. They also wrote, "No old, rusty cards allowed" on a note on our windshield. This was the worst hotel/condo experience of my life. Never, ever will my family stay here, and I highly discourage anyone from staying here. There are much better, cleaner, friendlier places to stay in Kailua-Kona.

Jewel of Kona

Location, Location, Location! We used to be timeshare owners at the Billfisher and still go there after all these years. Our February visit was as spectacular as it has been for 30 years and Kona hasn‘t changed much in those 30 years. As a timeshare, the Billfisher is still kept up very well. We always enjoy the balmy breezes and the upstairs rooms really catch them in the afternoon. We walked into town every night for dinner. Even though the Billfisher has kitchens, on our three day weekend, we never took a pot out of the cupboard. Kona is such a quaint little town that you can walk to at least 15 different restaurants.. . .our favorite being the Kona Inn Grill. Right on the water - - - if you have never been at the Kona Inn Bar and watched the sunset (while drinking a Mai Tai - best in town!) please put it on your bucket list! The staff at the Billfisher is as nice as your family. . . okay, some families. And of course, we always enjoy Kona for its quaint little shops - there is so much to look at!

Great with a few current drawbacks
By ,
We will be staying here next month again. It's a prime location in the past the units were in great condition. The unit we rent from a friend has a wonderful view looking out to the ocean, above the pool to the right of it. You can walk to a couple nice restaurants but it's a bit hot walking, Alli can be a bit hard to walk with traffic. You can't swim across the street there is no beach all lava rock. But there is a nice little beach in walking distance at the Royal Kona Reef. On the other hand you wake up to the tropical birds, a bit of noise from the upper road behind the units can be heard in our unit. My biggest gripe is I noted the unit cost of $70.00 per day, it would be nice if the Bill Fisher's new management would answer my many emails, calls placed. I've emailed them three times, our stay is going to be extended and we wanted to rent out another unit for those day's, our unit will be my family members unit when our time is up. It would have been really nice to be able to stay where my family would be also. I've been emailing Bill Fisher for a month now without an answer. We finally had to book another condo down the road for the extra days's being spent. We know the units well and do realize it's not full up. But hey maybe it will be fun to visit another condo resort.

Murray from the Long Island

It took about 2 days to figure out how the A/C worked, but once we did, it was wonderful. The pool was nice to look at, but we didn't come to Hawai'i to swim in a pool. We loved being wakened in the morning by tropical birds singing in the palms outside the lana'i, and the view on the harbor was particularly striking, especially when the cruise ships were parked offshore. The sky was always blue, except for the clouds, that rolled in every morning and afternoon; but we were rarely around to bother with that! What was wonderful was having a refrigerator and stove; because dining out for three meals every day is over-whelming! The bed (we had a king) was very comfy, the room was clean, although the shower steamed a bit much. The staff was welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere, relaxed, and there was easy access to the beaches, and the main highway around the island. We DO recommend a visit to the Greenwell Farms (Coffee Plantation!), which is only about a ten or fifteen minute drive from the location. For what we paid, it was certainly a steal!

we love the Billfisher!
By ,
Our famaily have been unit owners at the Kona Billfisher for many years. As the years have gone by, then "action" has moved right out to us. You can walk anywhere from the Billfisher. Even though we're now in the middle of the action, it's not noisy at night and it's so convenient. The Billfisher is like a second home for our family. The staff have always treated us very well and we love seeing them all every time we get to Kona. We have taken friends with us to the Billfisher and as result of their visit, they also purchased a unit and now we go there together all the time with all of our children. It's great! We LOVE it there! IT's not brand new but it's taken care of as though it was.

Excellent place to stay
By ,
Kona Billfisher is a perfect place to stay in Kona! Its only a short walk to town and the many restaurants. We stayed for only 5 nights, but cannot wait to get back. At night you can sit outside/leave windows open and listen to the bands playing, but they only play to around 11pm or so and do not disturb you after that. The best snorkeling on Kona is only a mile or two drive away. There are many repeat visitors and they have nightly get togethers at the pool. There are laundry units available to use so you don't have to bring dirty clothes home!

Home away from Home
By ,
We have had a family time share for 20 years at the Billfisher. The location is perfect, being right across from Hugo's and Snorkel Bob's. The night life and shopping are close but not too close. The other tenants are like one happy community. Nice ammenities for everyday living. The view from our deck is perfect. We enjoy watching the cruz ships sail off into the sunset. In the evenings we walk across the street to Hugo's on the Rocks and listen to the sweet sounds of local singers while watching ladies Hula. To unravel we sip on Mia Ties and run our toes in the white sand. The Billfisher will always be our home away from home on the mainland. Rafferty family.
