We will not return to this Hotel.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/28/11
There was furniture missing from the room assigned, lamps were missing from the night table, a dresser was not there, phones were missing, although the wires were sticking out from the wall. It was all very odd. The TV was small. The complimentary beverage at the reception desk was not cold and tasted sour, many quests complained. The air conditioning did not cool down the room.

Rude employees
By Bwco, 9/25/11
I passed by here in the middle of their employees recent strike and I have never seen such poor behavior by employees in my life. I did not stay here, nor did I see what the hotel was like, however seeing the striking employes behavior would be enough to make me avoid this hotel. One of the strikers even hit my car. The employees were on the street, screaming at the hotel with bullhorns. Hawaii is six hours behind New York, people are trying to cope with their jet lag and these people are making a racket. The Honolulu Police Department had to escort guests into the hotel. When you spend a lot of money on a vacation, the last thing that you want are strikers doing this. It shows a total degree of contempt for their guests. The sad thing is that I wrote a review about this up on another review site and their management wrote a comment defending thier actions. As yourself this, even though the strike is over, do you really want people like this serving you?

This is the place to stay in Honolulu
By Wizrah, 4/5/10
I had a wonderful time at this high-ranking resort and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Honolulu. The service is excellent, friendly, and prompt. The rooms are comfortable and kept very clean. The location across from Waikiki Beach is prime and there are many places to shop, dine, and visit all within a few blocks. There is also a small shopping plaza within the hotel so whether your looking for some clothes or missing an essential, the stores are all right there and you can get most of the basic essentials right here, so this is an excellent plus as you don't have to wander around looking for something. The cost overall is a little spendy during the regular season but they often offer great deals for winter getaways and I got 50% off my stay when I booked at least five days and nights there. For those unfamlilar with Honolulu, driving is challenging and can be confusing, so finding the hotel can be tricky at first. But once you do you'll never forget how to locate it. They only offer valet parking at $33 dollars or so per day, which is a nice feature, but since so many of the attractions offer free shuttles, there is almost no need for a rental car. If you DO want a car, they have on-site rental companies such as Hertz and Budget at the hotel, making a day trip somewhere else on the island a breeze and I'd certainly recommend worth seeing it. The only downside was I wish the rooms would have been a little better insulated from the sound. Honolulu is a noisy city both day and night, but its not so loud to drive you crazy. So I can't complain too much. I'd also strongly reccomend going that little extra for the beachfront rooms because the view itself is priceless and beyond words. This is truly a magical city full of music, fun, and wonder.. this resort is right in the middle of it. Many common household and bathroom items are provided and you'll feel like roytalty while staying there. Very friendly staff and probably the best hotel I've ever stayed at overall in my many years of travel. I would certainly recommend the Hyatt Regency and will be returning here again in the future.

Spent the 4th of July week there. Awesome time! Great service. Everyone smiled and went out of there way to speak or say hello. Buy the brunch during check it. $20inc per person. Great value & lots of good food. Stayed on the 31 st floor. Room was alway clean lots of towels. Bed was comfotable. Saw the Waikiki fireworks from our balcony...awesome. Location was spot on. Right across the street from the beach. I highly recommend it!!! :)

great service from all departments. smack dab in Waikiki and shopping! Pool is tiny but who needs the pool when the beach is right in front of you and no rocks! just lots of beautiful women from all over the world. Staff in the executive lounge is very friendly and helpful.

Would go back there again
By noname, 4/30/09
The service in this hotel is awsome, that is why we stayed there again. The rooms are getting a little dated, bath / carpet could use a redo. The hotel is in a great location for about anything you would want to do. We love the restruants and service there was good too. We would stay here again.

Hyatt Waikiki can use a little repair
By Never Again, 12/3/08
We stayed 2 nights on Thanksgiving weekend in 2008. Very disappointed at the condition of the Resort and staff. The manager did try and help with the bills at the end, but I didnt enjoy myself on my vacation. Rooms are old, and I was placed near the elevator. You hear it all night. We saw a rat run across the 2nd floor lobby by the bird cage, attempting to eat the seeds/nuts. Yeah it's a good location but this place needs a facelift or employee moral booster. Not very friendly environment for a Resort

Awesome, sophisticated service
By terri, 11/21/08
From our ocean view balcony, we could see all the action of Waikiki Beach some 23 floors below. Hula dancers swayed to the sounds of ukelele guitars, as the Pacific Ocean made its commanding presence known, crashing against hard rock. This was me and my sisters' first trip to Hawaii and I loved our stay at the Hyatt Regency. As a school teacher, I had spent a year researching and saving summer school, adjunct professor pay for our trip. I say this to let you know that I researched other hotels along the Waikiki Beach, and I'm so glad my travel agent prompted me to stay at the Hyatt instead of the other string of high rises in the vicinity, including the Hilton Village, which I was leaning toward. The Hyatt Regency is in the middle of ALL the action. The rooms are awesome and the beds are comfy. The staff works to ensure that you always feel at home. We got a good deal on a club level ocean view room and got to know our other club floor vactioneers and staff who always engaged us in conversation and made a point to go an extra mile in making us feel welcome to the Aloha State. What's great about the Hyatt is that while a bit pricy, it's no where near as expensive as say the Royal Hawaiian or The Hakelulani, but I believe the service and accommodations are on par are even better! You're only steps from the beach and within the sight seeing action of the bustling beach. I cannot wait to go again - hopefully summer 2009!
