Sea Palms Resort, St Simons Island

The place is beautiful! I love the views of the marshes and the great location- it was perfect for the family. I wish I had had more time to golf at the resort. GA tourism is doing a giveaway today on their twitter for a free 2 nights and a round of golf. I wish I had known about that opportunity- I would have gone later :) the twitter is twitter.com/exploregeorgia

This is a large resort with a number of locations. The pictures on the website are deceiving if you are not lucky enough to get into that part of the resort. My husband attended a conference there and obviously the conference coordinator booked rooms in the "lower" end of the property because our building was definitely not "resort worthy". We stayed in the Blue Heron building. The building was old. All the exterior doors were badly in need of repair and paint. The rooms were so close together you could hear the person in the next room sneeze. Obviously these rooms used to be condos and they split them. There were fleas or bedbugs in the room because I was eaten alive every night. They need to do a total rehab on this building and for $144-$154 per night, this is a rip-off ! I liked St. Simons but I will find another place to stay next time I visit. This was my first time at St. Simons and being at this property really spoiled it for me.

We were there for a conference. Our reservation was "accidentally" made at the inn and not resort where the conference was being held, (these are 2 very different places - not on the same property) after much disagreeing we were given the "Last room" at the resort. Which of course was much more expensive. The stay was great but 6 days after check out our credit card was charged again!! As of now, no one can tell me how or why!! I have had to leave messages for people on vacation!!! The front desk manager informed me she was BUSY and did not have time to look into it!! Also the door did not close in our room so everytime we came back the door was wide open for anyone to walk in!! This was not fixed during our stay!

This is the time of year, there is NO ONE at this resort. If you want quiet, no kids running outside or above your room, now is the time. The island is not too crowded. I would hate to see it during the season. Golf was good, cold and windy, you just have to play for fun not score. The golf shop people seem a little disinterested and not very motivated to start golfers as soon as possible after a frost delay. Where we come from they send a ranger out to decide when to start. Sea Palms seems to set a dealyed start time and you just have to wait, frost or no. The amenities and room were average. Not what I would expect for a "resort".

We went Forth of July weekend and enjoyed our stay. The rooms were very clean. The location of the rooms are very out of the way. For the price per night I was expecting alot nicer rooms, as u will see in the pictures they are comparable to that of much cheaper hotels. The rooms don't have a microwave, only a mini fridge and a sink. I also found it hard to find actual pictures of the deluxe rooms so I am posting some that I took. As with another review I read our beds didnt have a fitted sheet, only two flat sheets that were constanly coming off.

The resort was full so I stayed at their Inn. What a delightful room, staff at Inn was tremdous, especially the am person, Shirley. Recomend to friends and enjoy this great getaway

If you enjoy being bothered by pedestrians, bicyclists, fishermen, dog-walkers, and more then Sea Palms golf courses are the ones for you! Intrusions are unenforced and make relaxation and satisfaction difficult. If you decide to stay there, you may want to pay to play golf somewhere else where it is more professionally maintained.
