Worst run/managed Hotel I have ever stayed at!
My first time to Savannah---and while I loved Savannah--I can't begin to describe how disappointed I was our accommodations at the River Street Inn. I will admit the location of the Inn was ideal, but that is it. If you expect to get any type of customer service---Do Not, I repeat, Do NOT stay at the River Street Inn!
We booked our room in advance as we were celebrating my girlfriends 50th Birthday and had requested things like a river view, a balcony, and extra pillows. Our package included turndown service and a welcome basket. While we did get a river view room--none of the other things happen--not even the welcome basket or turndown service which were part of our "paid package". When we asked at the front desk about the turndown service--we were just told that the candy never came in, so they just did not do it!
After realizing the extra pillows we requested were not in the room,--we requested additional ones to be sent up and even though there was a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door when they finally showed up---they still entered the room while I was in the shower.
We returned to our rooms on Saturday afternoon to shower before dinner and my girlfriend discovered they her shampoo was missing from the shower where she left it. When we went down to the front desk to report the shampoo missing---they had it at the desk. The clerk just handed it over with no apology or explanation. We found out on Sunday that a hotel employee took it from our room because another guest said they left their shampoo in their room after being moved to another room---but they never actually stayed in our room. Wow!!
Ok, this is minor, but have to mention it. Other than the shelves that the towels are stacked on there is no place else to hang the towels---seemed silly at first, but got annoying real fast when you have to take 2-3 showers a day because it is so hot.
When we returned home we were informed by my girlfriend's boss that he had requested champagne be sent up to our room to celebrate her birthday. It never made it to the room, but his credit card was billed!
I could go on, but I think the point is made--It was just one thing after another....and to make matters worse---there was no manager on duty at the hotel from Saturday to Monday. We were told the manager would call us on Monday---we are still waiting?
We asked for a hair dryer because there are none in the rooms, after several attempts and several hours to get one---we were informed that it was "hectic" and they needed to get one from another room..It cost over $700 to stay there for 2 days and they can not afford hair dryers?
