Fabulous experience again!
By Michael P., 10/30/12
I stayed 7 nights back in 2006 and 2007 and enjoyed a great stay along with numerous ghosts and hauntings but of the friendly kind.(4 different Ghosts out about usually between 1-4a.m.) I finally was able to return in 2012 and once again enjoyed my stay. Only experienced 1 ghost this time instead of numerous ones but the place is still a first class experince. For a 200 year old building Antiquity and history is here!! Best location along the riverwalk! And the included wine and cheese happy hour from 5-7pm is still great!!! I will be back again! To all the negative nay sayers- I say go to another Hotel and shut up! You go to Savannah for the history, Ghosts and antiquity not champagne and perfect ass kissing catering. Oh and Peg Leg Ron with the hearse is the best ghost tour you can get!!!!! OoooooH Yea!

Worst run/managed Hotel I have ever stayed at!
By William, 6/4/12
My first time to Savannah---and while I loved Savannah--I can't begin to describe how disappointed I was our accommodations at the River Street Inn. I will admit the location of the Inn was ideal, but that is it. If you expect to get any type of customer service---Do Not, I repeat, Do NOT stay at the River Street Inn! We booked our room in advance as we were celebrating my girlfriends 50th Birthday and had requested things like a river view, a balcony, and extra pillows. Our package included turndown service and a welcome basket. While we did get a river view room--none of the other things happen--not even the welcome basket or turndown service which were part of our "paid package". When we asked at the front desk about the turndown service--we were just told that the candy never came in, so they just did not do it! After realizing the extra pillows we requested were not in the room,--we requested additional ones to be sent up and even though there was a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door when they finally showed up---they still entered the room while I was in the shower. We returned to our rooms on Saturday afternoon to shower before dinner and my girlfriend discovered they her shampoo was missing from the shower where she left it. When we went down to the front desk to report the shampoo missing---they had it at the desk. The clerk just handed it over with no apology or explanation. We found out on Sunday that a hotel employee took it from our room because another guest said they left their shampoo in their room after being moved to another room---but they never actually stayed in our room. Wow!! Ok, this is minor, but have to mention it. Other than the shelves that the towels are stacked on there is no place else to hang the towels---seemed silly at first, but got annoying real fast when you have to take 2-3 showers a day because it is so hot. When we returned home we were informed by my girlfriend's boss that he had requested champagne be sent up to our room to celebrate her birthday. It never made it to the room, but his credit card was billed! I could go on, but I think the point is made--It was just one thing after another....and to make matters worse---there was no manager on duty at the hotel from Saturday to Monday. We were told the manager would call us on Monday---we are still waiting? We asked for a hair dryer because there are none in the rooms, after several attempts and several hours to get one---we were informed that it was "hectic" and they needed to get one from another room..It cost over $700 to stay there for 2 days and they can not afford hair dryers?

handicap room was disgraceful
By patty, 10/2/11
Before I booked, I asked if the inn was wheelchair accrssible and was assured that I would have no problem. When we arrived there was no problem entering and going to our room but upon going to River Walk from the inn was impossible and the Huey's Restaurant was not assessible due to a step. We worked around these issues but I am really upset at how terrible the room was. it made me feel like I wasn;t worthy of a clean room because I was handicapped. The room was small and it looked like they furnished it very cheaply, the carpeting was dirty and the room smelled stale. The side of the bed that had easy access for me had a dust ruffle that had a 4 ft. tear that I would get my foot caught on when I got up during the night. I reported it to the one of the directors twice and nothing was done,,,even thou she said it would be take care of and replaced. The bathroom was very big but again not very clean. It could have used a few more grab bars. The foyer had a section of molding and trim that kept falling down. We happened to be leaving our room when the maid was cleaning the room down from us...it was lovely and quite big and I would have been able to navigate much better in that room. The location was excellent but it wasn't worth the money. I waited all my married life in hopes of us making our 50th anniversary and having a wonderful 4 days in a charming inn and having a beautiful room to share. The general manager knew this and and assured me that we would be pleased....shame on her.

Great location. But....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/29/10
Upon arrival, the hotel desk clerk seemed very opinionated about the concierge and openly displayed his dissatisfaction. This was very unprofessional. The parking situation is a little tough during inclement weather. The rooms were nice. And, the location was fantastic. We enjoyed the cocktail social and Huey's. I would recommend staying again. but...I would encourage better training for the front desk staff.

Definantly Stay At The River Street Inn!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/21/10
I Loved the River Street Inn. It was historics, beautiful, and the service was absolutely amazing! It was probably the best hotel I've stayed in since The King and The Prince in St. Simons! I loved it. River Street Inn also has a haunted side to it, and that's what got me so attached to it. I don't know about you, but I'm a genuine Ghost Hunter!!! :-)

The worst Savannah experience WE have ever had!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/27/10
We were here for our 38th Anniversary and it was a disaster! When we arrived, they gave us the wrong room whne we paid extra so we had to take a queen double room. Next, the tundown chocolates did not arrive the first night and the next night they were peppermints on a lamp table, The wine and Champagne reception was only wine. The Spa Line Bath products was a bar of soap. We made our concerns known and were promised a bottle of wine in our room. This did not happen, Overall, this was the most diappointing exprerience we have ever had anywhere. The room was not well-kept but atleast it is cool. One more night and we will be back home!!

Wow
By Scott, 7/12/10
We arrived early and was given a room right away by a very helpful front desk person. We were told where to go to get food, tours, everything that we could possibly want. We stayed on the street side with a balcony, beautiful. One thing is the room we stayed in was haunted supposebly. We were woke up several time during the night with a loud noise couldn't quite explain. Took pictures of the room since it was so nice. Several orbs in it. All in all would stay there again, loved it.

River Street can be very loud
By Julie, 6/7/10
My complaint with my 3 day stay is the fact that my room was NOT sound proof from the noise on River Street. I requested a balcony room overIooking the river and got room 419. I understand that it can be a very busy thoroughfare for tourists and the barges, however, the noise til 2:30-3:00 am every night was ridiculous. A barge woke me up with it's horn at 6:00am. Needless to say I did not get much rest at all. I also heard everyone walking up and down the halls because of the underlying wood floors. On the other hand, the room was absolutely gorgeous, beautifully decorated and the biggest 4 poster bed that I ever slept in! The bathroom was even beautiful. There was no robe though, as stated, and I only got 1 night of turn down service with some cheap red and white mints. No appologies were given for the air condition going out my last night, leaving me with no choice but to open the balcony door so I could breath, bringing all the River Street noise right there with me! Not sure I will stay there again.

disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/27/10
Overall this is a nice place but make sure you read the amenities. I was really surprised by the lack of a mini-frig or microwave in the room. They provided an ironing board and iron on request . We pre-ordered a bottle of champagne to share when we got there and it was in the room, in a basket. No ice bucket to chill in it (other than the standard room ice bucket you would use to hold ice for your drinks). When we have stay at other B&B's and ordered champagne like that it was in the room on ice and already chilled when we arrived so that was a little disappointing. After 4 or 5 trips to the ice machine I ended up chilling it in the sink. We upgraded to a balcony room and it was basically a tiny one person balcony. You can squeeze two people out there but it is very small. That is apparently standard up and down the waterfront so not hit on RSI specifically. I would just say if you are thinking of upgrading for a balcony, just keep in mind it won't be much. Maybe go for the bigger, more comfortable bed instead. The location is the biggest thing this place going for it. The location was right in the center of the river walk next to the Hyatt. That was awesome. They had a nice welcome reception that included complimentary hors d'oeuvres and wine/champagne. Although I would still recommend the place, there are better B&B's in Savannah that might be worth walking a few extra steps.
