Helendorf River Inn, Suites & Conference Center, Helen

We chose a place for our 90 year old mom to relax by the River while we shopped and fished. Our room had a new 42 inch tv, freshly pained, new carpet, large room and a private balcony overlooking the river. Our mom was so pleased and felt safe that she was in the midst of everything. Sheryl, was the one that checked us in and she had helped us on the phone as well. I am offended by the last comment that a vacationer made to the size of the man at the front desk, how dare him. Helen is an older town with places who have been there for many years, inluding this hotel. It is not brand new but very clean, very nice and we could not have been more pleased. They are making updates to the rooms and outside (putting in a beautiful patio on riverside of motel). We will go back there when we go to Helen. The prices are very reasonable and they are pet friendly. I called them and thanked them as I know these are hard times and they are business owners that are trying hard to offer nice occomodations. Very helpful and friendly. I recommend this motel.

Nightmare for our 27th anniversary. My wife made detailed plans to swarm me with a great vacation in Helen. She made the reservations for a room with a Fireplace, big bed, Jacuzzi etc., and HR Inn, made the reservations complete. We arrived. Junky looking place, the evening Mgr, ( a fat fellow), said everything was set. I asked if it had the fireplace and was it ready to use. He said yes. I asked about a pool, he said "yes inside and heated". We went to our room. Stale, wall paper coming loose at the side and floor. Smelled horrible. The bed was big, and it did have 2 tv's. Any way, after I bought logs etc, I called to ask the "fat fellow" to undo the vent so we could begin our romantic anniv. "Oh no you can't use the firplace, it's closed for the season", was his reply. What? So we gave up and went to the "heated in door pool". Not heated, very very cold. Not a good experience. Don't go. Find another place.

Me and my husband went to helen on our honeymoon a little over a year ago. This was the first time that I had ever been to helen. It was so beautiful I hated to leave. We realy enjoyed the shops and the fine resturants, and tubing down the river, it was so much fun. We look foward to returning to helen soon.

My husband made the plans to stay at the Helendorf Inn 22 years ago on our Honeymoon. And we still stay there today. And we have been going to Helen once a year ever since. The hotel looks like a old German Inn, and is on the river.It is in the heart of everything in Helen. You can walk every where, and run back to your room all by yourself with out ever having to turn on the car. We love, love, love to leave our back door open to hear the sounds of the river that is below our balcony.The sounds of the river will put you to sleep. And thats the best sleep in the world. We can also hear the bells that are played on Sunday morning. We also like to sit out on the balcony with a bottle of wine, and watch the water, and the people as they wave at us as they are tubing by. The people running the place are the same ones that were there 22 years ago. Yes, the hotel is old. And old buildings have a certain smell, but it is not offensive. And it looks old, but well maintained, and very clean. And I'm a clean freak. I I hope it stays the same.

Been staying there before Betty's Store was the new one and there was no swimming pool at the Helendorf. I just wish the pool could have been built in the back where the empty lot is, where the horse-buggies use to be parked. And at one time was a Bavarian Restraunt and also a laundramat there! If the pool was there I could lay out in the sun!!! But now I am too old to be out in the sun!!!

I found the entire area to be neat.The staff at Helendorf to be helpful as we were planning activities.I wish we could find these accomedations every time I travel.Thanks staff at Helendorf We will be back.

I have been coming to Helen for over 35 years and this is the worst Hotel I have ever been in- I would sleep under the bridge before I would stay here again. :( 1. Old and Dirty 2. Not kid friendly 3. Pool is not indoor as advertised- It is outdoor with a shed built around it, and has ants all around the pool. 4. Had to pay an additional 30.00 to get a room with a refrigerator. :( 5. Got stuck on the top floor and we have a 3 year old. The list goes on and on, do yourself a favor and stay at the Country Inn and Suites. Very Nice and friendly and is not a total dump.

WE HOPE TO MAKE THIS A YEARLY VISIT TO HELEN EACH THANKSGIVING!!! OFCOURSE TO STAY AT HELENDORF...WE LOVED THE PLACE THE PEOPLE AND MOST OF ALL IT WAS PET FRIENDLY...THE PEOPLE WERE SO NICE THE ROOM WAS NICE DID NOT SMELL OF A PET.. WE WILL STAY AGAIN NEXT YEAR LOCATION,LOCATION..JERRY& SUE HUNT.BLAKELY,GA.

I have been staying at the Helendorf all my life. I have never had a bad experience. The staff is always friendly, and the location is perfect. They have 5 rooms that are pet-friendly so it is great to be able to take my 80 pound lab/collie mix with me. The rooms and the hotel are all decorated in the Alpine feel. I love the Helendorf.

This was our second time there, but we had other family members (4 adults and 2 kids) along who stayed in separate rooms who hadn't stayed there before. The rooms were clean, the property was well kept. The kids enjoyed the pool and the river! The location was perfect. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. When we wanted to go tubing later in the afternoon, the lady at the desk made a call and we were on our way! Our party of 8 had a great getaway there and will go again!
