if you want to slum it in Augusta GA
By rebeccavail, 07/16/08
The hotel was old and in need of a total make over. The pool area is filthy to the point I could not even go swimming. Dirty towels that were in the pool area on Friday were still there on Saturday morning. I was doubtful the pool had been checked for it proper phbalance. The resturant had chipped dishes and the food was marginal. The price was way OVER PRICED Hotels.com where I made my reservation OVER CHARGED as the room was $119.00 but I was billed $161.33, If you want to slum it in Augusta GA ...go to the downtown Ramada in!!!!!!!!!!! Oh and the housekeeper came into my room to clean 2 hours before check out time while I was still clearly not checked out. My personal belongings were still in the room. THAT REALLY TICKED ME OFF.

Pleasant surprise
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/10/08
We liked everything about this hotel...it was really a pleasant surprise. We had a lovely room with a great view of downtown and the river. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We were also surprised to have had the best meal of our trip with the buffet lunch at the hotel's restaurant...great vegetable soup and chicken and dumplings. The best meal we have ever eaten anywhere for $6.50....we just couldn't believe how good it was. Wish we could have gotten the recipes. A great find....we will return and highly recommend everything about this hotel. The best Ramada we have ever stayed at!!!

Yes, pretty bad...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/21/06
...but are there any good hotel options in this town? Lack of competition seems to be the issue here. Yes: cold shower, surly staff, restaurant lousy for the few hours it is open, loud train (or was it a trash barge or something? couldn't tell) for that way-too-early wake-up call. The "swimming pool" is more like a foot bath. But the Ramada is within walking distance of what passes for food/business/entertainment in Augusta. Room was reasonably clean and comfortable. BYOB, food and earplugs and you'll be fine.

Worst Business Hotel Ever
By Sean, 11/16/06
Were I reviewing a Super 8 or a Travelodge, I would be more willing to overlook the lack of laundry service, poor customer service at the desk, barely palatable food, surly bartender, train tracks less than a block away, shower that routinely takes at least ten minutes to get warm and 20 to get hot, no continental breakfast, inability to get a working alarm clock in my room, and completely unhelpful management. I would forgive these things because at a Super 8 or a Travelodge, little lapses in service are expected. But this is a Ramada Plaza Hotel and Conference Center. I have reason to expect a higher level of service from a hotel of this stature. Sadly, this hotel has failed me on every count. I will never stay here again, and I will think twice before staying at another Ramada, period.

Do you like trains?
By Lyudmil, 08/29/05
If you work for railroads this might me a good choice for you. Have you seen the movie “My Cousin Vinny” with Joe Pesci? If you have, you will understand what I mean. 4:30 AM, you are in your comfortable bed dreaming about something nice. And then … Over the sudden a loud siren goes off right under your hotel window. You jump quickly trying to figure out what is going on – if it's a fire alarm and you will have to evacuate immediately. After e few moments you realize that this is just a cargo train passing by. The siren goes off again, and again, and again. The train traveling with the average speed of 5 m/h. blows the siren on every street which it is crossing. Given the fact that the hotel is in the middle of downtown Augusta, the railroad crosses street every 20 yards. At the time the train is finally gone, you are fully awake. You have a glass of water, read for about 30 min. With much luck, you are back to your prior to 4:30 AM state - sleeping. Not for a long time, though. A new train is about to pass by at 5:45 AM. If I was you, I'd just go downstairs, get coup of coffee, go outside and wave to the train. There is NO way you will be able to go back to sleep anymore. Or, the other clever alternative would be – try to avoid booking a room at Ramada Inn on 640 Broad Street, Augusta GA. Unless you are currently a railroad worker and you have no problems with train sirens. Other than that, the hotel was not too bad.
