Stars Rest Inn, Jacksonville

This was a good motel for the money. Our room was clean and comfortable. The motel bar was enjoyable and being guests at the motel we didn't have to pay a cover charge. We will definiately go back. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to family and friends.

I was checked in to room 137. This room had a dehumidifier trying to take out a musty damp smell. I addition the TV did not work could not be repaired. I was then transferred to room 129 a so called MINI suite! This room was the filthiest room of all. The carpeting was stain everywhere, dead bugs were on the floor in several locations, ants in the bath room, rusty water when I turned on the shower, water leaking from the toilet, the mirrors were cleaned half way (I quess the maid was a short person), the table in the mini suite area was covered in dried food, the microwave was in the sink, the coffee pot had parts that did not fit properly, the TV signal was terrible. Mildew was present on all the tile floors. There were holes in the yard area where a person could trip. I could go on but you should get the idea.

This was the absolute worst place I have ever stayed! The room my husband and I were in had WET floors. I assumed they had cleaned the carpet and called front desk to let them know and that since we checked in at 3am, we could switch rooms the following morning. As it turned out, the maintnance worker informed us that morning that the room next to us had a gentleman that stayed there and over-flowed the toilet. Covering his room in feces from the back of the room to the front and turned the heat on to 80 degrees, just to get a free nights stay. Needless to say, they never check the rooms next to it considering that we stayed next door and the capert was wet from the over-flown toilet the night prior. Yes, I walked barefoot on that carpet. The manager was Sherrie Gibbson, who was supposed to be on site. After we tried to check out, I didn't want to pay that nights stay (NO person would) The front desk was nice, but the manager there never came in. All she offered was a $20.00 discount. Not good management to me! I don't think she nor anyone else would like to stay in a room like that! Never again will I go there..... Also, the couple with us had to switch rooms because they woke up to a room filled with ants! Maybe the manager should stay in her own hotel a few days and see what she thinks.
