Not Good
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/11/10
My family stayed in four of the Villas (across the street from the main Hotel and next to the golf course) and it appears up grades and renovations were about 15 years behind. The furniture looked like something I had in college (sofa that dipped in the middle and a table with four non matching chairs). All of the rooms had an odor, some worse than others. The smell form cigarettes was so bad, my sister-in-law had her husband walk a cross the street to request a new villa. The walk was necessary because the phone did not work. They were apologetic about saying the lines were cut about a year ago. The bunch buffet was ok, but the hash looked like it came out the can. The only good thing was the rooms were cheap since our host for the week was a member. The staff were nice.

So Glad We Stayed Here
By Jessica, 07/29/09
I read the reviews listed on this page after booking my family for a long weekend at the Plantation Inn. I was starting to expect the worst! However, everything was just the opposite! The Plantation is lovely. The rooms were clean and very nice. Pool was spotless and there was a staff member checking to be sure those using the pool were truly guests of the Inn. The food was wonderful. Staff was very helpful and accomodating. We had a wonderful time and would go back and stay there again!

Way Nicer in Pictures
By Jenny S, 07/28/08
The pictures on website doesn't show the truth about hotel. The outside needs to be maintained and painted. The rooms have totally different bed coverings as shown on website. They look out-dated, smells weird and could use another renovation. I understand this is a plantation hotel that is really really old, however, it doesn't have to smell like it. Another thing I didn't like is the fact that websites says is located on 200+ acres, however, the golf course is accross the street and hotel faces a water canal with run down houses behind. It has a feel of a backyard waterview, instead of the 200+ acres and water view. I am disappointed with pictures on site. I purchased a Bed & Breakfast package and was very worth it. With this package we got Buffet Breakfast included and it was really good. Lots of choices such as scrambe eggs, grits, bacon, sausage, hashbrown, pankcakes, french toast, oatmeal, cereal with milk, bisquets & cravy, bread, toast, croisants, tons of fruits, and danish. Local restaurats and shop attendants are extremely rude. Front desk employees are nice but nothing to brag about. If you come to Crystal River, FL you must rent a boat (watercraft) and visit the Three Sisters Spring ... You can park your boat alongside the island and take this seculed, small and charming spring. The water is crystal clear and you will love the view. Bring a cayak, canoe, inflatable float or non-motorized raft into this spring. Don't forget your snorking gear. I did and regret it. This spring has 3 sources in which you can see. Its just simply amazing. THE HOTEL & LOCALS SUCK.... BUT THE ISLAND IS AMAZING.

everything changes
By PEGGY, 06/02/07
When my children were younger the Plantation catered to the older crowd. It seems now that we are the older crowd, they have changed gears. A lot of these unruly children are from the outside (They charge $5.00 to allow non guests to use the pool). Very disappointed in this. The renovation of the rooms was appreciated.

Great time and saw the Manatees!
By Michael W, 03/20/07
I had a wonderful stay. You cant imagine what it is like seeing the Manatees in their natural habitat. It is something everyone needs to do once. The property was perfect and the staff friendly and informative. The tour service was right there on property which made it very easy. The rooms had just been renovated so very nice and big.

dissapointing
By joet, 06/14/06
HOTEL WAS VERY DATED, MOLDY AND MUSTY, AND VERY MUCH IN NEED OF RENOVATION.IF YOUR JUST LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO FLOP FOR THE NIGHT IT WILL DO.THE VENTILATION AND AC SEEMED TO PUMP CIGARETTE SMOKE ODOR THROUGHOUT THE HOTEL AND OUR ROOM. PARKING WAS ALSO VERY LIMITED.I WOULD NOT STAY THERE AGAIN. IT IS DEFINATLEY NOT A CLASSY PLACE, I'VE BEEN IN NICER MOTEL 6'S...HONESTLY.

Nice hotel
By Donald, 05/25/06
The hotel is on the Crystal River with a great view and manicured grounds. Rooms were nice and clean but could not connect to the internet. Food is above average and prices are reasonable. I will stay there again on my next trip.

We had a very nice experience.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/16/06
We had reserved and paid for a standard room but where given a deluxe room without even requesting it. Enjoyed the pool and golf. I found the staff attentive and rooms where clean. I had read previous review and was a little put off but my experience was good and we have rebooked for a summer golf outting.
