50 reviews for Royal Floridian Resort, Ormond Beach
Timeshare for sale!! Family Friendly
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/14/09
We purchased our timeshare approximately 7 years ago when our girls were small. One of the best things about the resort, for us, was that driving IS aloud on the beach, BUT if you go just north of the Royal Floridian, you can NOT drive there. The kids could run around and we could sit back and relax. We were always within walking distance of the room, snacks, bathroom, pool, etc. Now the kids are a little older and we don't use the resort. It is close to Daytona Beach and a short drive to St. Augustine. Also, hop on I-4 and you are just over an hour away from all of the great Orlando attractions! As you can see by the reviews, the Royal Floridian is a nice resort with good ammenities and a great location They are rennovating the resort this year, 2009. So maybe the complaining from some of the guests, did some good. We have always been very happy with our time at the Royal Floridian. Please look into it and if you are interested in buying please get in touch with us. We are very motivated to sell. Asking price $4500. Less than half of the purchase price. The fees are paid for 2009 and you can use your week right away. We own a 2 bedroom lockout, which is basicly 2 small apartments with a common hallway. Erskine380@aol.com

don't bother
By Jeanne, 06/24/09
I don't even know where to start. When I arrived there was no where to park, so we went ahead and parked in the garage(which if you drive anything bigger than a small sedan don't bother). When we went in there were about 40 or 50 people standing around...they won't give any room keys until 4pm. so once 4 o'clock hit everyone rushed for the desk, and then or rooms wern't even ready...another hour of waiting. then they tell us the elevators does not go down to the garage(keep in mind NO PARKING AVAILABLE IN FRONT) so we have to carry all of our stuff up. Their elevators were tiny and there was only two. We had 8 people in our group and was scared to all ride in one elevator together, not to mention half the time there was only one working. My parents room was a one bdrm unit, it wasn't that bad, huge livingroom area crappy view of a nasty roof, seemed cleaned. Our room was a two bdrm unit with less than half of the living area, one dresser for 6 of us to share, only had seating for five people if you're small(which I'm not), not to mention their furniture is wicker, and the most uncomfortable furniture I have ever had to sit on. The balcony had a bar splitting it in half with two of those $6 plastic chairs on either side of the bar, right next to the nasty rusty noisy air conditioners( yea there were 2 of those on our balcony). We were on the second floor and could not hear the ocean or anything else over the air conditioners. Our neighbors were up moving furniture or god knows what all hours of the night. oh yea, did I mention the big trip hazard in the door going out to the balcony, and the doors were old store fronts and you could not prop them open. The indoor pool which was closed every other day, only has a 9 person bathing capacity, and the only hot tub is in the room with the pool and it was always dirty and nasty looking. They offered a us a hundred dollars to sit through their buy our time share spiel, so we did it...and when we told them we didn't like it well enough to buy, they got crappy with us. When we got back to our room from that we had a message telling us we had to move our beach towels off our balcony NOW, BECAUSE THEY DON'T ALLOW THAT!!! and when I pointed out to the lady at the front desk that half of EVERYONE had their towels out there she told me to "get their room numbers and she may oir may not call them, it depends" The showers had almost no water pressure, and our oven did not work. There are no nice restaraunts in walking distance and if you move your car you may not be able to park when you get back. But hey...If you like cramped little rooms, nasty balconies, impossible parking, rude people and amenities that you may or may not be able to use...then this is the place for you!

TOP NOTCH RESORT
By Lonestar, 06/01/09
Recently returned from the royal floridian. Stayed in a 1 bedroom suite. Very nice, bedroom was small but usable, Nice living room/.kitchen combo.Full view of ocean and pool area from almost all units available. Very nice area with lots of resturants within walking distance, Granada plaza just across the street with Outback Steakhouse/ TGIF/ and Peach valley cafe. Other nice resturants close by such as Billy's and Stonewood. Area is private at north end of Ormond Beach with very nice homes all around, Go with knowing beach and large heated outdoor and indoor pools is one of the nicest around.

Can't wait to go!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/01/09
We bought a bi-annaul studio share in 2002 for the Pepsi400 week and have not been able to use it yet so I'm not sure of the room condition. We enjoy using the facility (right on the beach) accassionally on the weekend. We've been able to rent our time once for a little more than the annual fees. We're not race fans but enjoy the property when we can. So if anyone is looking to buy or rent a week this year we have the 4th of July weekend.

Don't Buy, They Lie To You
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/26/09
We bought the time share in 2008 and they will tell you a pack of lies to get you to buy. Our seller said that if we wanted to sell they would buy it back. WHAT A LIE ! I am very disappionted with the company. They will rent it for you if you don't use it and pay comes right to you. I would not ever buy a share with this company at all, in fact I am trying to sell mine. Some of the aminities are good, but they do not out way the lies they tell you. I haven't heard from RCI to get the cards from them, that they said I would recieve to get help. I was told that our agent, I guess you would call him, that would call to give me the number, so they could buy back the time share. I was told they wanted to be first to buy the place back. I have never heard from the 2 people that said they would get in touch with me. I haven't tried to get a vacation in any other place. I would appreciate any body that has bought a time share to let me know how their experence was in the other 5 star hotels they have visited. Or are the 5 star places ?Of course, once you buy the share they don't want to help you with anything. The people that work at the hotel desk are really polite, but the people that sell the time share are full of ( I can't say ), but you know what I mean. I will check it out, this summer at the pool and the beach and return to let everybody know about it. I am putting my e-mail to get feed back and I would appreciate anybody who can let my husband and myself know about your travels. They show you a nice room, I never saw the room like we were buying. They didn't tell us about the extra money that you have to put out and they will not call back to explain it to you. I was told that there were no more fees, then I got a bill for an assessment fee, reserve fee, and property tax assessment. You just get a bill. I was told that if you don't use it, you don't have to pay anything. My e-mail is badtoboneinfl386@aol.com. Please let us know. I just hope they improve on their way of selling the place or at least stick to their word. I know times are tough, but why lie to people. I hold a person to their word and their word isn't worth anything. But, like my Father told me what goes down comes around twice as bad, so I have to believe that. At least I hope so. The cleanliness is only what they showed us,and the service we never used. I love the location and I hope the value will go up if they change.I know they told us they are building a new one next door and going to remodel the old one. I hope that isn't a lie. then maybe it will become a great place to stay. I know it said not to put e-mail, but I need information about the place that people have been with the company for a while. They let somebody in the company get the information of our social security numbers. How secure is that, and tell us not to worry. I called and they of course told us not to worry. How can you not help but worry, and it happened in December, 2008. Good Luck to all

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/12/09
i loved my stay it was clean had friendly service and i loved the view it was pitch dark when i arrived due to it being a rare turtle season and all lights were limited or turned off but watching that sun rise from my balcony gave me the best view of the open water, and yes the time shares do take a year to book but its worth it and it just goes to show everyone is booking for the same floridian expiriance i had...

DONT BUY!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/27/08
I bought this place over 10yrs ago. We bought it b/c we were told we could get rooms for $50 a night whenever we wanted, on top of the week that you normally get. They will only let you book your night EXACTLY 2 WEEKS before, no sooner, and no later, which was not in the contract that we had signed. So if we tried to book a family trip a few months or a year before, forget it! That rule became the new policy and there was nothing we could do about it. Once I booked a night, I showed up, and lost my room. Me and another owner, an elderly lady I met in the lobby, both didn't get our rooms that we paid for. We both were arguing for our rooms and then I started asking people around me about their situations. 5 of them just got FREE rooms from the salesman to get them to buy. They were all trashy and ghetto looking, people that couldn't get into the nicer places. So, they gave away mine and this other lady's room to strangers to get them to buy. I have paid the rising fees b/c I CAN AFFORD IT! These people just wanted a freebee and would never come back. So they choose them over us? That's crazy! After threatening legal action, and my son, a Marine got so upset at how they were disrespectful and rude to me and this helpless elderly woman and her husband, he physically threatened them, I got my room. Why they put us in that position, I don't understand! The room was dirty, there was a black bra wedged in the bed, and a child's playing cards under the couch. Clean? I don't think so. Then there was a big list of things to clean up myself before I left. So I am supposed to do all the cleaning? I was so exhausted I just wanted to enjoy what time was left (check in is at 4pm so it was already late) At 6am the next day, a big man was pounding at the door, and scared me to death. I was in fear for my life, he almost pounded down the door it sounded like, and I was asleep and not expecting anyone. He wouldn't leave! My son got the door and was ready to fight this person b/c there are alot of bad characters who get to stay at this place (free of charge they will let whoever in), and he thought it was one of them. He was a staff member and told me that it he was making sure that I was awake to check out that morning! At SIX AM? That's awful! I've sunk so much money into this place, and have been so disrespected by the staff that it is unbelievable! They will be so sweet to sell it to you, then lie and cheat you out of your money. It's not the money that is the issue for me at this point. It's the way I have been treated. If I am to pay thousands a year for such a terrible place, I should at least get to stay there once in a while and be treated as a person, not like a piece of crap.

Awful RCI Resort
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/19/08
This resort is not as advertised. The location is good and that's about it. The rooms are small, outdated, not clean and not well appointed. The amenities such as pool and exercise room are a joke, outdated, in need of repair. The tiki bar is small, hardly open and closes too early. There is no restaurant on site. The elevators are slow and outdated. The rooms are dirty and smell. This resort is not as advertised by RCI and we were truly disappointed.
