Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place, Melbourne

Got it for $75 a night on non refundable rate. Some of the reviews here bash the place, but I couldn't find a thing wrong except the occasional flickering satellite TV. Clean, extra comfortable beds, a staff that must take happy pills, a hot tub at the right temperature, a giant recreation pool, basketball court inside tennis court, very acceptable restaurant, coffee in the lobby, newspapers. The location was perfect for us. I stay at all kinds of places, typically trying to stay around that magic $50 mark or less - but for a few bucks more we had a great weekend. Doubtful I'll ever be in Melbourne again any time soon, but if I do end up there, I wouldn't hesitate to book at the same price. Alot of the reviews here are older, maybe they had a management change.

Was very impressed with the lobby and concierge service upon arriving. Was then very disappointed by the room, lack of telelvision stations along with old television itself, the rooms were very noisy and the bathroom was not impressive at all. On top of this we had neighbors with a barking dog. The pool and hot tub were also not convenient to access.

I didn't see the rooms so I can't comment however stay away from the restaurant. My bestfriend got married this past weekend and her future mother-n-law decided to have the rehearsal dinner there. The hotel was very pretty however will NEVER go back there. They were obviously understaffed because we had one very inexperienced waitress assigned to a wedding party of 20. We waited about an hour before our soups/salads came out, some of us were told that we didn't order what we ordered so we had to wait even longer for our soups....it was another 1hr and half before our dinners arrived. EVERY ORDER was incorrect in one way or another. A few meals had to be sent back. Again, waiting almost 30 minutes before we got our meals. By that time we all had to go so we got doggy bags. The shrimp was half cooked. The steaks were all VERY overcooked. The garlic mashed potatoes were INSTANT and not homemade like you'd expect from a place of that caliber. The pasta dishes looked great but were tasteless. The tea tasted like it had been made from dirty sink water. Over 3hrs to get served nasty food and be mistreated by a lippy and inexperienced waitress. The entire experience was HORRIBLE. McDonalds has better service and better food. The worst part is that they wouldn't even discount the bill in any way.

The hotel was perfect. Probably the most energetic and friendly bell staff I have ever seen. Check in was quick and accurate. The rooms were clean and smelled fresh. I think the property was recently renovated. Really comfortable beds!! The best hotel fitness center I have ever seen. All brand new! I had dinner in the restaurant...great food. Server was smart and had interesting stories. Very personable. I'm in Melbourne every three months or so and I will definitely stay here again.

i don't recommend this place. it has none of the customer service i used to associate with the hilton brand. we checked in after midnight and the room was 57 degrees (F) (the outside temp was 80). they left the a/c on cold all day and night, so that was pretty much the coldest it could get. we turned on the heater for 40 minutes with no effect. we called the front desk and they had someone stop by our room to tell us that the best bet would be turn off the heater and let the room warm up slowly (4-5 hours). we spent the night freezing and not sleeping too well. we mentioned it to the front desk and they really could care less. when checking out the next morning with so little sleep and still chilled to the bone, i forgot my favorite pillow. at least they offered to ship it to me with shipping and handling charges (silly me, i thought they should ship it to me for free so i could just forget the sleepless frozen night at the hilton). on the other hand, they told me there was no wireless internet in the rooms, but there was (free and reasonably fast). the remote for the tv did not work and the front desk did not seem to care.

The room was so so. Stains on the chair. - Not many free channels on the TV. Very noisy plumming. When your neighbor uses the bathroom it will wake you up. When he closes his door with the spring loaded hinges your bed will move. For the price I would avoid this place. - Hard to get a good night's sleep.

This was the worst Hilton Hotel we have ever stayed at, without a doubt. The staff was incredibly rude, the food in the restaurant was discusting and the furnishings were threadbare. Our room was so old, dreary and smelly that we requested another, newer room. They did move us, but the room was identical. Now, I am hesitant about staying at Hilton Hotels and I had always been a fan in the past!

They overcharged me 210+ bucks a night for a standard double room. The room was your typical small hotel room. Nothing special about it. You would think for 210+ bucks a night I would get free internet in my room. Eeehhhh...Wrong! That's an additional 10 dollars a night. And that's wired internet, not wireless in the room. If you want to go to the overpriced bar downstairs or sit in the lobby then you can get free wireless internet access. But then again, you can go to star bucks down the street and get the same thing too. For 210+ bucks a night you'd also think you could get a free continental breakfast. Wrong again. You have to walk into their restaurant and pay them 10 bucks if you want to eat breakfast. No matter how much you pay them for your overpriced room. Also, breakfast did not taste that great. I ended up going down the street everyday and eating, for 5 bucks, a much tastier breakfast. I could have gotten the same amnenities at a much cheaper price and been at the beach at any other hotel. For shame, calling this a hilton. Talk about bleeding my pockets dry. I'm already overpaying for my standard room. I have no clue what the other posters are claiming greatness about this place for. If you read their reviews they get excited about how comfortable the beds are. They must have been sleeping on nails before, because the hilton bed is just a standard spring loaded bed. Nothing extra comfortable about it. I assume they're raving about the beds because, well for your actual 210 bucks a night, that's all you get. Just a bed to sleep in. Nothing else. If you're looking for just a bed to lay your head on, no ocean view, and want to pay these guys an outrageous 210+ bucks a night plus an additional 10 dollars for wired internet, and 10 dollars for bad breakfast then the hilton is the place for you.

240 bucks for a regular week night which is outrageous to start with and I would expect a lot more than what was received. It is advertised as 99 to 189 bucks, but we overpaid 249 for the regular standard room not even any kind of special room. The internet hookup is advertised as standard, but when I got to my room, they told me that it had to have a black box in it. I said there is no box. They said that room didn't come with one. I had to be moved to another room. Then I had to go and get the cable from the front desk. Oh, and internet is not free but you have to pay 10 bucks per day (this is your 249 dollar room remember) The checkout was at 11...at 11:05, they kept calling repeatedly until 11:15 to get us out of there. The breakfast is 10 bucks and is disgusting. Location is good cause it is in melbourne. If you stay at a radison for 159 a night to the east, you get free internet, bar you can walk to, actual ocean front view and way larger rooms.

It was everything I expected from a Hilton. Much more comfortable than a Super 8 or Motel 6. Priced muched below The Breakers in Palm Beach. It was clean, comfortable and the value I expected. Also, the lobby is nice with a water fall, restaurant and bar. When I was there an East Indian Wedding was being held. It was interesting and educational to see the Groom walked through the parking lot on horse back. Again, a touch of eligance without breaking the bank.
