Had a great time and golf was very good
By ,
Stayed at an owners unit which was well maintained, A/c was great. Enjoyeditting out on deck having dinner and drinks. Views were great and suroundings wer comfortable. Looking to go back again in late May and also reserved for the July 4th holiday. Hope this remains a secret location without the heavy traffic, golf fees were reasonable and enjoyed the fishing.

Monthly rental
By ,
This place looks like it used to be really nice. However, there has been no work to keep up the roads. It is very difficult to even ride your bikes. The clubhouse/ amenity center is in disrepair. All of the people that work here seem to have attitudes. Apparently, not all of the rentals include access to the pool. We were never told this, and the attendant made us feel like criminals when my kids jumped into the pool. If you are looking for a cheap place to rent, then this is it. We chose to move out after only one month.

OMG!!!!
By ,
I was a Golf Director at Grenelefe from 1991-1994.........It's horrific what they have let happen.........I actually caught the tail end of a Unique Era in Florida Resort Golfing.....Just a shame that the Japanese let it go, while purchasing several other properties, and let Grenelefe self destruct.......

Older but Charming
By ,
I have been a rental resident of Grenelefe since August of 2010. I recently signed a new lease for 2012-2013 and have lived near Grenelefe all my life; my mom even worked here when she was in her early 20s. Grenelefe has seen better days but it is still a nice place to live and play. In my building I have two permanent neighbors and three owner units that are either used as winter homes or rented to visitors. The neighborhood is quiet and my balcony looks out onto the golf course at one of the greens. The buildings are a bit outdated but I think that adds to their charm. There are many things that do need attention. Pot holes for instance and some of the public buildings still show wear from the hurricanes in 2005 but since I moved in I have noted a few improvement projects that are taking place slowly but surely. The staff has always been polite and helpful. It is definitely not 5 star accommodations but is a good place if you are looking for simple comfort and peace.

Beautiful place and friendly people
By ,
I first came to Grenelefe in December 2011 and emmediately fell in love with it's natural beauty and friendly inhabitants. I loved it so much that in February I returned from London and bought 2 condos there.I looked at many condos and most had not been updated since they were built in the late 70's but were still well maintained, clean and functional. I found the staff in both the club house and condo association very pleasant and helpful with nothing being too much trouble for them. The pool is lovely and the bar is nice if a little dated but the function room in the clubhouse has been remodelled and is HUGE.. I agree that some of the internal roads are tired in places but to me that only adds to the charm. I live in London, England and its such a joy to visit Grenelefe to unwind after my hectic city life. I don't play golf but the courses are always well used and those I have spoken to say that they are challenging and reasonably priced. They are certainly well maintained. For those who like fishing and sailing, beautiful Lake Marian is just next door. I think that some of the bad reviews have been written by local competitors as most of the negative comments that I have read are certainly not valid. I really can't recommend it enough in fact some of my family and friends are also going to buy condos here from my recommendation. Do give it a try, you will be glad that you did.

golf yes, condo's ?
By ,
I played golf at grenelefe East Course today. It was a good play and one of the two best values in polk County. I also noticed a lot of construction/remodeling going on in the clubhouse area and throughout the complex. The pool had a good bit of activity and so did the bar. It appears to me that someone is trying to rehab the place.?? and I live up north.

Grenelefe aging but good value
By ,
Golf and accomodations were great. Food was excellent but pricey. Altogether great value at the time we visited. Property went into receivership shortly after - not related to our visit - and has new owners. We played but did not stay in 2004 and the impression was very good.

great time

If staying in central florida is your goal, this is a nice out of the way place. Winter Haven and Auburndale are 10 minutes away. I recommend it 100%

Things have changed at Grenelefe
By ,
We are happy to say that Grenelefe is emerging from the doldrums of being hurt by three hurricanes. We just spent 6 days golfing. Great rates. The golf courses have never been in better shape. We understand the property is under contract to be sold to a major investor with big plans for Grenelefe This place is a hidden jewel. We have been there almost every year over the past 14 years. Missed the hurricanes. We will certainly be back.
