Deliver us from Dupont
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/20/05
I am a foreign tourist who had the unfortunate experience of staying at the Dupont Plaza Hotel for three brutal nights. The moment the taxi pulled into the entrance I began to cry, the picture on the site is misleading and should be pulled immediately. No one, and I mean no one at the hotel spoke fluent English, therefore basic communication was impossible. The hotel resembles a lost ghost ship that emerged after centuries of sailing adrift. The Hotel had the most awful scent, from the lobby all the way up to the room. The carpets were filthy, the aircondition never worked, the bathrooms were unsanitary, and I was bitten twice by bugs in the bed. Into the wee hours of the morning guests on all sides were arguing loudly and fighting. I also noticed that a group of vagrants stood just outside the hotel entrance every evening, just hanging out as though it was a normal thing to hang out outside a hotel. The thing that bothered me the most was that our room door was difficult to close and lock. Three days had never moved so slowly. To add insult to injury we were charged for things we did not use, and also for hidden fees. Imagine that, hidden fees to stay at the city dump. I will NEVER, EVER set foot in that place again. I think it should be comdemned. Hopefully this letter finds some poor soul who intends to stay there in the future, and my stay there would not have been in vain.
