Disney's Contemporary Resort, Lake Buena Vista

The hotel is continuously booked full, so you'll have a hell of a time getting any sort of service or resolution should a problem come up with your room, as it did with us. We paid $900+ per night for a 2 bedroom park view room, but sice we checked in at 7pm, the room had been given to someone else and we were given a view of the parking lot and monorail. We asked for a refund on the upgraded room view cost, but were ignored (three times). Now we're stuck contesting the room charge with the credit card company.

We just got back from our first family trip to Disneyworld & we stayed at the Contemporary. We loved it!!!!! We were supposed to stay in the garden wing, but when we got there we asked if there were any upgrades and there was!! We were upgraded to a tower room on the 5th floor. This could have not been a better location. The room was nice and BIG with lots of storage. It was a 5 minute walk to MK and a quick monorail ride to Epcot. With all the noise of the monorail and chef mickeys and not to mention lots of people, you would think that you would here every little noise in your room, but it was actucally very quiet. I was very worried about that when we were upgraded to a tower room, but that was not the case. The staff was very nice and helpful!! We got back to our room late one night(after midnight), and we could not find the remote control, so we called the front desk and they had a new one delievered to our room in less than 20 min. We loved our stay at the Contemporary and we will stay there again!!!! It is a very large and spacious hotel so you dont feel cramed and crowded with people all the time. It was great!!

The Contemporary Resort is beautiful. All of the rooms and most public areas have been recently renovated. I think some of the older bad reviews were of pre-renovated rooms. The room renovations were completed in 2006, I believe (upper floors first). The Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort is a separate building right next to the Contemporary Resort A-frame building. It opens August 4, 2009 (we check in that date). We saw it in construction during our Nov '08 trip. The location (of both) are great! Being on the monorail is nice and convenient for visiting Magic Kingdom and Epcot. It makes mid-day breaks really easy. That is something you can't get from off-site resorts.

This will be my first visit to this hotel,, i stayed at the Swan, |Dolphin...maybe yu need to go back...

this was a magical expirence because of the fantastic views!!!!!!! the top of the hotel has the most fantastic resterant ever!! because it brings the child out in all of us!

The Contempoary location is great. The lobby is so spacious. You can view the fireworks on the terrace, with the monorail passing overhead. Very Cool!! We stayed in the Garden Wing facing the bay. It was quiet and you can view the water parade from your room at night. I loved the room. The beds were comfortable, plenty of pillows. The bathroom sinks very modern. Overall nice!! We ate at the California Grill. We had a table by the window. Make your reservations during the fireworks, it was fun!! The food was great. My only complaint, not enough dining at the hotel. We wanted a late lunch 2:00, all restaurants were closed. Had to get a hamburger by the pool.

My wife and I have stayed at 3 different resorts: The Contemporary, All Star, and Caribbean Beach - by far, the Contemporary is the best! Excellent staff, however, housekeeping needs to clean the room a little better. Chef Mickey has an OUTSTANDING Character Breakfast, California Grill is AMAZING, and the Concourse Steakhouse is vastly underrated. We were upgraded to a Tower Room with a view of Bay Lake and Cinderella Castle. We went out on the Balcony for fireworks at night - felt like it was a show for just us. Location for transportation was most convenient! The Monorail travels right through the hotel every 10 minutes - we never had to wait long, even for the buses. The only time we had to wait at all was the buses going BACK to the resort. Like other resort guests, we suggest buying the souvenir mug, it really saves you money. We can't wait to go back!!!!!

I am a frequent business traveller and this hotel does not stack up the competition very well. They are in the process of a remodel which isn't very appealing to me since I am currently staying here. Anyway, I divert...when I checked in, they were very friendly, but they sent me on a wild goose chase. They sent me to someone else's room (they gave me the wrong number) TWICE!!! The distance to get to the room was so far, I didn't have to go work out yesterday! When a fourth check-in person (there were 2 check-in castmates and a manager, before the third check-in castmate - yes, this is Disney, and castmate is their word for employee) realized the three others had sent me to another person's room...our last names are very much different. When I finally got to my room about two hours later, the disappointment continued. The room's lighting, air conditioning (this is Florida in the summertime), and cleanliness are not 4-Star (maybe 2-Star) quality. The lighting is poor - I like bright lighting; the air conditioning is noisy and is not working (they are supposed to come later to fix it); and there is dust, greasy finger prints, and stains on the bedding. I would like to change rooms, but they told me I would have to vacate this current one and eventually (after 3:00pm - I called at 9:00am) would find me another room, but they're not sure where it will be. From my guess, things can only get worse! So, I decided to live with what I have. As for a positive note, the staff at the Councourse Steakhouse (restaurant in the hotel) is excellent! Kim A was my server and she was great! If you like steak, the Buffalo Filet is excellent. I just wish the rest of the hotel was like this restaurant...

I recently stayed at the Contemporary Resort in Disneyworld. I researched a little about it online and was aware that it had been renovated/updated. What a nice hotel. I found it to be very clean,comfy and especially loved the marble floored bathroom. The room had a computer,sofa,soft bed,fridge,luggage rack(dont laugh! they're handy and not always available in rooms),flat screen tv,and Disney just has some special touches that I found charming. I appreciated the central a/c(no humming wall units)and the dim lights/fan that go on automatically in the bathroom(for those midnight visits). Dimmer switched lights over the headboards(so you don't go bump in the night) I felt very "at home". The emplyees are so polite a maintenance man said"Thanks for staying at Disney",when I asked directions in the building. I loved the monorail coming right into the middle of the whole complex! It was a thrill. The California Grill was EXCELLENT. We dropped $100 on wine and hors d'oeuvres but it was worth it. Everyone was very accommadating. Just one small caveat: if you don't stay in the main building but one of the satellite buildings be prepared to walk quite far to the lobby and interior of the building. I can't comment on the kiddie attractions as I was staying there for a conference,but I loved it! But what do I know.Maybe I don't get out much.

I'd just thought i'd share with you a little more information for parents looking for a place their kids will love. Let me just say this place is amazing. Disney World in itself is the most amazing experience and you will have a good time no matter where you stay. However, if you do want a great place this is it! It is amazing for kids as well as adults. In the morning we would go to the little breakfast shop and get some really good stuff. Then we would head straight for the parks, which are insanely amazing. The pool isn't fabulous, although the water slide is pretty cool, but you spend the day at the parks and if you really want a hose down go on the white water rapids, you et soaked but it is so cool. Also the game room is sooo much fun. Plus you can book a cheaper room and sometimes get an upgrade so it actually is a really good deal, because you could end up staying in an amazing room for the price of the worst room. Overall this trip was just indescribable. I loved it with a passion and will be going back there as soon as possible. SO if you are not sure where to stay, stay here for the true disney experience.
