Beachview Cottages, Sanibel

I have been staying in these cottages almost every year for the past 7 years and this past weekend will be my absolute last time. The rooms are disgusting, the silverware that was in the kitchen was rusty, several lightbulbs were out, there was a dead roach stuck under the light switch in our bathroom, and the kicker were the bed bugs!! My boyfriend and I , along with another couple had all stayed in the same cottage together. My boyfriend and I slept in the bed all weekend while the other couple slept on the couch. He and I woke up Sunday morning with bites covering our entire body, however the other couple had none. We went to sleep with no bites and woke up miserable. After what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend, I had to spend the first couple of hours at my house disinfecting everything, hosing down our luggage, and washing every single article of clothing so as not to bring any bed bugs into my home. I called out of courtesy for the cottages and future guests, so that other people would not have to deal with this problem, however after speaking to the woman at the front desk I hung up actually furious. She responded with a snooty arrogance almost as if my phone call was a bother. I shouldnt be surprised to have received such horrible service, considering that it is all I got during my stay. At one point during my stay, we had run out of towels so I went down to the office to get more towels. The old, decrepit man behind the desk obviously did not want to be bothered by me and made me wait over 10 minutes as he rummaged at his desk until he finally was ready to acknowledge me. Once I asked for the towels he got up unlocked their utility/supply closet and stood there. I had to walk into their storage unit and fetch my own towels!! Sanibel is beautiful with many great places to stay, so if you want to actually enjoy your stay avoid the Beachview Cottages!!

We went here for our very first girls' weekend and will go back every year. It was wonderful and the staff was terrific and very helpful with arrangements over the phone and e-mail. It was just what we needed - somewhere to relax, enjoy each other's company, take bike rides and long walks on the beach. It's like going to summer camp with ALL the amenities.

I thought this was a great place. The cottages are great and the one we stayed in was just remodeled so it was especially nice. The pool is clean and in a convenient location. We have been there 2 years in a row. It's very easy to get in and out of as far as traffic. It's footsteps away from the Ocean. The only thing I didn't like was the no seeums or some kind of little bug on the beach. They get me every time.

Service excellent,the most relaxing vacation you ever have.Great restaurants love the Island cow.The only thing hotel should get better sofa bed is very hard and uncomfortable,the bed is fine I still love the place.

We've been vacationing there since 1977. We go every few years. It is very quiet and the staff are very friendly. If you should have a problem they take care of it right away. The cottages are of the 50's but are very comfortable and clean. You have daily towel service and a weekly cleaning if you stay a week. I'd recommend this place to anyone for a wonderful time and enjoyable vacation. And the shelling is great!! So is the fishing if you like to fish. The rates compare to most other places in the area.

I liked that it was very very close to the ocean we got a ocean view cottage. It was not that clean and the air conditioners sounded like frieght trains when they ran so we got no sleep what so ever. the floors were sticky and it was not a comfortable sleep at all.

rustic, a trip back in time, relaxed, and homey...just what we needed! it's not luxury, but we wanted on-the-beach and no crowds..we'd go back again...

Right on the beach. Great 1950's feel. Only 22 units sharing beach and pool vs. hundreds of people at nearby hotels/condos. Super fast response by staff to any concern. Condo-like approach - no daily room cleaing. Efficient kitchenette with table and chairs. Daily towel service. Free bicyles. Awesome shelling. Covered parking for upstairs units.

I have been coming here for over 15 years. And as always a very enjoyable time. Many summers I have shared with my mom here. Good memories!!

The cottages are 60's style, cute, & cozy. They are a little rustic, but their location is ideal. The cottages are nearly yards from the Gulf of Mexico. Each cottage has a grill, their own screen porch, and French doors opening into the cottage. The porch was wonderful for relaxing in the evening... listening to the ocean waves lap upon the nearby shore. We stayed here for our honeymoon and enjoyed the cottages more than the cookie-cutter, apartment-like condos at many other Resorts! We haven’t been back since the Hurricane, but we've heard the cottages were one of the only resorts incurring very-little damage.
