Call this a vacation?

We have stayed in this hotel 3 different times before our trip this year. It had always been such a nice facility, close to the ocean, a beautiful pool, and a very nice breakfast room. It was always well-maintained and we never had a problem....We didn't know it, but the hotel changed ownership last year. When we got there, we sure saw the difference! In our 3 nights' stay, we had to change rooms 2 times. In the first room, the door lock did not work; it wouldn't take the cards no matter what. In the second room, during the evening, the toilet quit working. We told the man at the desk, and he said there was no one there to fix it. The third room he gave us turned out to be a smoking room which stank. (We had a non-smoking room originally) , and the door cards did not work completely there either. Besides these major things, there were other smaller things that also needed fixing or replacing. Maintenance staff members we met were frustrated too, telling us that they would like to fix things completely, but ownership would not pay for parts needed..... So it looks like maintenance here is not a priority, letting guest after guest experience the same problems with the same things. This was supposed to be a vacation for us, but because of having to deal with all this and continually move our stuff around, we lost a lot of time we could have spent making it one. That is what we were paying $100+ each night for. If hotel management does things in a way that doesn't help to make the stay enjoyable and stress-free, then we and other vacationers should really be going somewhere else.
