Worth A try
By RyanM, 5/19/10
After reading the reviews on this site I was a little skeptical about staying here. The entire trip was great, the shuttle to Union station was prompt and often empty (it could have been the times that we used it) but what else do you want for free? The drivers were kind and courteous and everyone we encountered at the front desk and support staff were excellent! The area in all honesty is a bit hard but you have no reason to explore in the area directly outside the hotel, it seems to be in a cluster of other nice hotels and is secluded from the surrounding ghetto. I did not have a car when I stayed here and you won’t need one. Give this place a chance, it’s worth the savings.

Overcharged and terrible service
By LoLo, 12/30/08
The hotel is beatiful and the rooms are clean and nice, but if you have any problems don't expect to have them taken care care of professionally or quickly. I was overcharged and am still waiting for the billing issue to be resolved 9 days after checking out. Stay somewhere else.

Be prepared to wait....
By Minh Nguyen, 9/21/05
This Travelodge is located a few miles away from DC attractions. They do have a shuttle to and from Union Station. Although there is a shuttle schedule, be prepared to wait a while. The shuttle is often late, and is packed with people. You may have to catch the next one. Also, in the mornings, due to the high volume of passengers, you should sign up for a spot on the shuttle (a point that we were not told, but found out the hard way).

Awful Service
By Beth Daniels, 8/22/05
We stayed at this motel thinking that the "convenient" shuttle would help us. We waited 2 1/2 hours each night for the return trip even after putting our names on the list. You are told that you can call and get a return ride but there is only one shuttle and 30 people trying to get on it. The rooms were clean but were very old and smelled like mildew. We tried to discuss these issues with the staff but they were rude to every customer. I saw numerous people unsatisfied with the service. This motel was in a bad part of town. We were told to stay in one of the suburbs on the subway line the next time that we come to DC. The pool is open at odd hours and requires a pool pass in order to swim. But, this is not communicated to patrons at the time of check-in so this is also inconvenient. Avoid this motel and stay somewhere else!

Worth it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/14/05
I just came back today and I never wrote a review in my life but wanted to make sure I did this time.Rooms were nice for the price. The staff were very niceand the breakfest was a pleasent suprise not just donuts and coffee but also waffles, toast ,bisciuts and gravy also freash fruit. The only bad thing is the neighborhood wasnt the greatest. But who has energy to walk aroud after doing washington anyway? If you do the van drives you to and picks you up at union station anyway every half hour.I will be back again

Would not recommend to anyone!!!
By go ducks, 6/27/05
The pool is off limites at 8:00 PM in the evening. The air conditioner was out when we arrived on Saturday. The front dest was notified on Sunday morning. The changed the dirtiest filter in our room on Monday. The air conditioner was not repaired until the afternoon on Tuesday. Room temperture in the evening was in the high 70's to low 80's. When asked about an adjustement on the bill, I was told the rate I received was already a good price. Food was less then fair and they ran low or out on most days!!!

The Bates Motel
By AZ SENIOR, 5/28/05
Scary neighborhood, creepy lobby, followed by shoddy wiring--two electrical outlets with lots of extension cords provided power for lamps, TV, mini-fridge, microwave, and coffemaker. One outlet did not work at all, so we had to put the coffepot on the floor to make coffee in the morning. The staff was friendly and helpful, but they couldn't do much about the cheap and shoddy quality of our room.
