Stay away from the restaraunt !
By ,
The service is extraordinarily slow! Now I know why they push the buffet. I had a $36 Chilean sea bass, more that I would normally pay for dinner but I thought it would be worth it. I would serve it either with rice or a lovely bed of pasta. They chose MASHED POTATOES! Yes Chilean sea bass served ON mashed potatoes! Are you kidding? There is clearly no real chef there. This was not the only problem with food service but the most glaring.

WILL DEFINATELY BE RETURNING
By ,
I stayed at this hotel becasue of the conveince of getting into NYC for the day. Just minutes from the train station.....it was a piece of cake. I was very happy with the appearance and cleanliness of the lobby and rooms. the staff was very friendly and helpful. The brunch was pretty expensive so we went elsewhere. Other than that we had a wonderful stay and will definately be returning next year.

New and WOW!
By ,
Everything is new and improved - not at all like it was a yr ago. Looks like they must have renovated the whole place, but the service is what really impressed us. The front desk was so friendly and really went out of their way to help us with a van ride. Great location to train sta to NY and easy to get around locally.

This was a very good value
By ,
We obtained the room on Hotwire, which as you know, you do not get the name of the hotel until you make the reservation. After making the reservation we checked the reviews on the Stamford Hilton and were disappointed. The reality is that the hotel is newly renovated, the staff was very accommodating. The hotel is very clean. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone who asks. The older reviews should be taken off the site because they are incorrect and no longer describe this hotel.

Very disappointed
By ,
I liked the convenience from the highway and it was a walk to the train -which we used to go into NY city for the day. The price was very good for a Westin Hotel-so I thought - yet once we got to our room it had used washcloths hanging from the shower and the curtain. We had a worker in the ajoining room who was doing repairs at 2in the morning - drilling to be exact. He also recommended I complain "to get a free room" They are remodelling and I get that yet they could have closed the workers doors and picked up - we checked in around 11pm -plenty of time to make it presentable. This was my first and last time booking a hotel room online.Yahoo didn't make it any easier with the directions on got online. It had me going to the residence part of town.I realized once I got to the hotel that the street name was different then what I had copied and pasted from the hotel information online address.I do recall the address wouldn't "stick" I mean it kept changing it from One Stamford Place to 1 Stamford Ave. The customer service person at the hotel couldn't only comp. breakfast for myself and my mother due to I bought the ticket online.. my 2nd reason for NEVER buying online. It was very nice yet for being awoken at a very early hour it would have been nice to have them do something else.

Find another hotel
By ,
The carpets in the room were dirty. My biggest concern was the night desk. We asked the front desk for an idea for a pizza take out or delivery. The female, "I wish i remembered her name because I would report her to the manager" was no help at all.She did give us a name Planet Pizza but said it was closed. We asked another male behind the desk and he also said he could not help that it was closed. It was around 10:30pm. I then asked the female for a phone book." we don't have one around it won't matter they are closed.I said to my son lets go up to the room and look for ourselves at the phone book. To make a long story short, we called Planet, they were opened and they did deliver the pizza a little after midnight. It was a Saturday evening. I would not go back to this Westin.

Most awful hotel ever. Do not ever paln your stay there !!
By ,
Had informed them I will get there after midnight due flight time and car renting etc. It was really important they have the room (that had been reserved for me) ready for me. But they had given it to someone else !!! I had to go out and find another palce at an ungodly hour. EXTREMELY BAD EXPERIENCE!!! Can not wait for this hotel to shut down.

Worst hotel ever!
By ,
Check-in took over 10-12 minutes, as the clerk saw fit to make jokes and chat with his co-workers while he was supposed to be checking us in. Then, to peddle the Starwood Guests program, he asked me for my name and address repeatedly - as if it just wasn't worth his bother to pay attention. After all that - and another wait - he said the computers were down, and he couldn't enrol us anyway! He asked for my name an address AGAIN - and told me he would send the Starwood Guests enrollment confirmation to my room later that evening. Of course, it never came. The room was somehwhat dirty. I found a little girl's shoe on the floor near the bed, and a old coffee filter that had not been thrown out. The heat didn't work. I called down to the front desk, and was told someone would be sent up. We went out to dinner, expecting the problem to be fixed. When we got home - close to minute, the room was still freezing. I called the desk again and was told, we could move to another room (at that hour!) or they would send up extra blankets! The bathtub was filthy. My husband suggested I take a bath to warm up, but when I saw how dirty it was, I did not dare. Breakfast the next morning was awful. The eggs were cold, and the pancakes soggy and inedible. The heat situation wasn't addressed the sedond day, and we filed another complaint, but nothing was done. The parking garage was extremely poorly laid out. Overall, this was the worst ecperience I've ever had at a hotel. I was especially surprised since I'd stayed at other Westin Hotels - and found them to be quite luxurious and clean. this one should be completely renovated, and their staff re-trained - or else the whole place should be shut down.

They took our stuff out of our room!
By ,
Lobby was nice and airy. Looked good at first glance, but furniture was worn, some of it dirty. A dried up orange peel was seen behind the couch. Front desk personnel was abrupt, confused and inept. After we checked into our room and unloaded our hand luggage (including purse!) we went back to the garage to get the rest of our luggage. Imagine our surprise when the elevator door opened, and out came a porter wheeling our personal belongings! Apperantly they had double-booked our room and took it upon themselves to move us out without any notice. Subsequent rooms were shabby. We asked for another room twice, after that we gave up. The room we finally ended up in had a water leak that left a large area of the carpet in front of the bathroom slopping wet. Since the bathroom is tiled, I slipped several times due to my wet shoes. After hours of waiting they merely sent up a custodian with a wetvac. No attempt was made to fix the problem. The Heavenly Bath was nice, but had a slow drain, probably due to hair clogs. The toilet started to run after the first day, and we had to keep the bathroom door closed in order to sleep. The hallway was litered with room service trays, that remained there till the next morning. (This was first noted around 4pm!) Lots of stains on carpet and ceiling. Pool was dirty, similar to the ring of grime that builds up on an uncleaned tub. Needless to say we did NOT go in! If not for the fact that our daughter's pageant is held yearly at this hotel, we would've checked out and never considered coming back! Considering these conditions and occurences, even the discounted pageant room price of $97 is way over priced. In addition, there is NOTHING complimentary in the room. Even the coffee (starbucks) had to be charged to the room bill. Also keep in mind the hefty occupancy tax of 12%.
