Amsterdam Hotel, Stamford

The Amsterdam is more than you would expect for its reasonable prices. An independent hotel, the rooms are fairly spacious and well equipped, with small refrigerator and microwave. Its location has its pluses and minuses. It's a good stopover point due to the proximity of I-95, but that proximity also means you hear road noise.

This place had many nice features. Nice room with two queen beds, table, chairs and free wireless internet. Nice staff.

The Amsterdam formerly the Rodeway Inn has been revamped in the best possible way. The convient location to downtown Stamford is a big bonus. The staff were helpful and courteous with all questions. The lobby area was clean and cozy. And the Rooms were well organized, clean and comfortable. The parking entrance was a little sharp but lots of space in the back and underground. There could be more variety of take out menus although Taco bell is right next store. It is a wonderful Hotel and I would surely go back again.

I checked in and the manager was very rude. His demeanor was unpleasant and it took a very long time to check in. There were signs posted all over stating you should show your AAA card for discounts and when I did just that he asked in a very mean tone if I wanted to pay the higher AAA room rate. This was inappropriate and unnecessary. The room itself looked old and the money spent on the lobby could have been used to help remodel some of the rooms. The only thing good about this hotel is the free internet. Overall, the service here was terrible! I would rather pay a higher rate for a hotel room at a hotel with better service.
