Value Lodge, Grand Junction

This is not a place for handicapped people to stay! When we made the reservation, we were not informed that it was a two story motel without an elevator. Even though we had a reservation number, it took the staff quite some time to find our reservation when we arrived. Both my husband & I were on quad canes when we checked in. Only then, the clerk informed up that our room were on the second floor and the hotel did not have an elevator. The clerk was cold to our handicap conditions and was unwilling to go out of his way to help us out. To make a long story short, my husband and I had to hobble up the long staircase to our second floor room with our heavy baggage without any assistance from them. The rudeness of the staff was absolutely appalling!

This is the worst motel I have ever been to. Bad, rude service, and a bad room in addition to that. Don't stay here if your life depends on it.

For the price, the hotel was ok. It has fairly poor maintenance - mold in the shower tile grout and a buildup of minerals from the water around the shower head, and the shower itself is more like a blast of mist than a stream of water. There are no amenities other than the cable tv (no alarm clock in the room, either). On the plus side, the room itself was clean and had the typical hotel-room-clean-smell. The bed was comfortable and the hotel is in a good location, with a City Market right across the street in case you forget any toiletries, etc. The problem I had was with the reservation. The staff speaks with a heavy foreign accent and made a mistake, booking my reservation one night early. They charged me for one extra night, and they were very rude when I tried to discuss the mistake with them. If you have any disputes with the staff, they will be very defensive and have a "can do no wrong" attitude. Assuming that your reservation is made correctly, it's an ok place for a bed for the night if you're trying to save a bit of money.
