3 nights in cellblock 104
My father-in-law suggested this motel because it was close to his house and he viewed the rooms, which looked fine to him. They looked fine to us, too, but the problems had to be experienced. I'd requested a ground floor room, non-smoking and that's what we got. Except it was a handicap room (fine, usually)... Well, the bed was miserable. There was some kind of mattress pad on it that must've been in case of "accidents" and it bunched up and left you feeling damp. I guess if you were paralyzed from the neck down it would've been okay. Two pillows, pancake thin, were on the bed. Requested more and was given 4 more weirdishly lumpy pillows. The shower was hand-held only, and my husband figured the only way it would work for a disabled person would be if you held it between your butt cheeks, otherwise the water sprays straight out into the bathroom. As it was, he had to stoop down to wash. Switched to another room the next night, better bed, but the light in the bathroom was soooo dim. Apparently the fluorescent ballast was giving out. We left it on, hoping it would warm up and come to full light, which it did in the middle of our third night. We had to laugh... but we will never ever stay at another Ramada! We paid about 75 per night.
