Noisy and uncomfortable
By flirtygirl, 9/17/10
Beware, there is a button they check on the receipt during check-in stating "knows about the bar." The morning clerk uses this as leverage during check-out with total disdain toward the guest refusing to negotiate a lower rate, percentage off, free night, or anything that resembles customer service. After a sleepless night be prepared to fire up both lungs from breathing in stale mildew-filled air and cigarette smoke due to the hotel bar, (patrons courtesy or the overcrowded RV park right next door) with loud drunken parking lot antics until 3:30 a.m. echoing though out the hotel courtyard. Then enjoy a refreshing shower with random, crazed schizophrenic temperature and pressure fluctuations. Do not expect a lovely Danish breakfast just because they have a windmill out front and be sure to get there early, for if you miss the 10 a.m. cutoff time you’re out of luck, even if you've been waiting amongst many others well before 10 a.m. for a self-serve waffle, sugary, carby "continental" breakfast complete with waffles, doughnuts, and frosted cereal (apparently they can't find anything wholesome yet economical in the middle of farm country and 10 minutes from Solvang). Instead of attempting to make your stay more pleasant by offering compensation or apologies the staff presents you with an uncaring and dismissive attitude, complemented with an almost gleeful expression as they rip off yet another sucker. I only wish we could post a picture of the rooms true interior. Upon opening the closet door we discovered the back of a dented kitchenette refrigerator (probably because it literally fell off the back of a truck) which was stuck into the back of the closet, through a hole in the particle board made by a jigsaw, most likely by one of the drunken RV bar patrons. The only redeeming quality of the refrigerator and the rattling air-conditioner is the combined rhythmic white noise produced, which served in drowning out some of the bar brawling at about 3 a.m.

NIGHTMARE DIVE, HORRIBLE, FROM AVID TRAVELER
By lara, 6/12/10
I travel a lot, so I expect good customer service, as is always needed and welcomed. I had to check in late to this establishment (dive) and called ahead of time to confirm late check-in. Not only could they not find my Expedia confirmation (already booked and I gave information on), but I stressed the late check-in and they said no problem, that'd make a note, or so I thought. They said it's a 24 hour check-in. When I arrived to check-in, the clerk was half asleep, had no eye contact, smile or hello. She was acting like I was putting her out. She said she had one other couple that checked in late, but there were no other notes, basically making me sound like a liar. She kept saying she had already done her evening reports, and I was completely putting her out. She was extremely rude and never apologized or even looked me in the face. I then asked for two queens instead of a king and again she no, said she'd already ran her reports. This doesn't even touch on how horrible she was! Don't waste your time on this place. Spend the extra ten to twenty bucks and stay across the street at the Andersons Split Pea Soup hotel. They are AWESOME!!!!! Plus motel at a weird smell to it.............I thought for sure cochroaches might climb out at any time or fleas...........

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!
By Julie, 8/10/09
The room was gross, nasty and a pit. The air conditioning cover was melted, the lampshade was hanging in pieces, and the back door of the room led to nowhere. The freeway traffic noise was very loud. The place was a huge rip off. If you decide to not stay here you are still being charged for the room. They will not give you a refund. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy!!!!

Pitiful, only as a LAST resort
By Boater, 5/26/08
We went to check into this motel and on first impression it looked terrible. No windows, falling apart ,weeds in the parking lot, smelly bar next door and an overall feel of "rent me by the hour." We were stuck so we checked in. After checking out our room we checked out and drove another 50 miles to a nicer area. Not recommended unless you have no choice.

Nasty
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/8/08
This motel has seen its better days. The place needs some work. I hope all the rooms are not like the one I stayed in. It was filthy. I was waiting for roaches to crawl out from under the bed. My room was very beat up. The place was so dirty. Days Inn Corp needs to inspect this place. Maybe they have a few clean remodeled rooms that some have stayed in, but from what other guest were telling me their rooms were just as bad. Hope you don't make the same mistake of staying here too. If you like mold and filth you will feel right at home. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

Had to do it!
By PeterB, 9/29/06
Stayed there just for fun due to its appearance in "Sideways". It did the trick for the night. Cheap and close to everything we wanted to do (eat, drink wine etc.). It isn't the cleanest place and the sign that says the hotel contains cancerous materials was a little scary. But we got over it. The bar was nice, but there was no one there. Doubt I'll be back, despite having a decent time.

Easy to get a room
By Andy, 9/23/06
Two times I have been up in wine country on weekdays and have been able to stop in and get a regular room for $80. Rooms are quiet, you park just outside the room, and the pool and spa are nice. Clubhouse is the only bar in town, but it's a bit of a dive, with no decent wine. Plenty of games though. Location is great as the hotel is right off the 101 at the 246. It's a must if you enjoyed Sideways and want to walk to the Hitching Post. There's a good breakfast place around the corner and you could even walk to the Alma Rosa Tasting Room, on Industrial.

Good place to stay
By Lilith, 4/17/06
Nice room - could've used a refrigerator however. Much to my surprise, the waitress at the Hitching Post told me we were staying at the night-spot in town where the locas went - she said Buellton and Solvan roll up the sidewalks at night. We had fun hanging out there. I'd definately stay there again.
