Clarion Hotel Monterey, Monterey

What a poor, overpriced excuse for a hotel! We felt compelled to leave without staying overnight because of a filthy air-conditioner. There was no offer of an alternative room -- they claimed to be fully booked. Don't let the photographs fool you -- it's not that great! To add insult to injury: we were still charged the full rate!

We got the room with the hot tub, the room was average size and clean. parking is close to the room and the location is perfect for day trips all around the area.

I called the hotel in advance and let them know my wifes bday was going to be on sep 4th and that we wanted the room with a hot tub,we arrived to a room with a broken down hot tub.maintance was rude and smelled of boos,had no knowledge of hot tubs.manager refused to refund us we were charged 119!!!!!! YESTERDAY WAS VERY IMPORTANT TO MY WIFE SHE JUST TURNED 22 AND THIS WAS HER FIRST BDAY SINCE HER CANCER WAS IN REMMISSION. the hotel knew of this and still did not care!!!manager refused to make it right.very bad hotel and over priced!!!!!!!

the maintenance man was extremely rude and cursed at me when i mentioned the faucet in the room was not working.i tried contacting the manager but he continued saying that "i will not give u a refund i will just check u out"the bed also had bed bugs very unhappy.willn not go back ever!!!!!!

We chose this "hotel" based on the reviews on this website. What a mistake! It is definately more of a motel (think motel 6 with breakfast and a pool). The walls were so thin that the guys below us kept us up ALL night with their TV and talking. We tried to call the front desk at 11:30 and found the phone in the room was not working. So, one member of our party got dressed and went to the front desk to mention the noise. The clerk basically said it was "still early" about the noise and when it was mentioned that the phone didn't work said, 'Well, don't you people have cell phones anyway?" Finally, at 2:30 AM we used one of those cell phones to call the front desk. It took about 20 minutes, but they did get the guys to quiet down. Of course, our neighbors were up at 5:30 AM and right back at it. The only nice thing about the stay was that they let us out of the rest of our reservation, so that we didn't have to experience it again the next night. The pool was fine and breakfast was a cheap carb fest with rotting (I kid you not!) apples on display. The watermelon was ok though. I would only recommend this motel if you were planning to stay at Motel 6 anyway and wanted a slight upgrade.

This hotel was very welcoming and a surprise when we got there for the price. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The hotel area is nice, with trees and flowers all around. Our room was roomy and comfortable. We had two queen beds and in separate bedrooms that shared a bath. The area was quiet. The toilet flushes a bit violently. WIFI internet at no charge and helpful recommendations for dinner nearby. Clean, comfortable, quiet, with a helpful staff - a pleasant surprise for the price.

The room was clean, bathroom was nice with a good shower, its just one exit away from Monterey downtown. The front desk staff was helpful in giving us discount coupons for meals and things to do. Also, they had info about good restaurants near by. The breakfast was good with cereal, fruits along with usual muffins and juice. Also, they have a waffle baking equipment which is fun to use for making fresh waffles. An overall pleasant stay.

we heard about the clarion through some friends, reserved an executive sweet and made our way to Monterey looking for a nice get away, and that is exactly what we recieved. Arriving at the hotel i was a little unsure because it was small and it looked like a mom and pop place. Little did i know it was GREAT!! We checked in and went to our room, it was really great, but we decided we wanted the room our friends had...The honey moon suite. That room was even more great! We were able to upgrade with no problem. Any time we had a question the staff was more then willing to hlep. The pool was extremely clean, as well as the rooms. The location wasn't extremly close to the beach, but it was in an area, where it was easy to get to the free way, food areas, gas stations, the aquarium, cannery row, lovers point, pacific grove, it was a prime location. All around a great expirence , we went just this month and plan to go again and stay at the clarion in september. I deffinetly give it 5 stars

I liked the indoor heated pool especially. My son who is 17 months enjoyed splashing the water. Breakfast was great ie. the Belgian waffles. I can't ask for better service.
