Very Friendly Service & Great Rates
By Robert, 09/11/09
I have stayed at the Relax Inn & Suites several times over the past six months and have always had an enjoyable stay. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean. I've seen some of the other revues and I have to tell you they've made many improvments lately. New paint, new carpets, they even re-paved the parking lot. The rooms I have stayed in have always been very clean and I enjoy the convenience of a refrigerator and mocrowave. I also like the location. They are very close to the trolley and food, gas, and shopping is also very close. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a nice room at a reasonable price in the San Diego area.

worst motel in san diego
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/13/07
This motel is a trash, we took a non smoking room for two days but we had a feeling that it was a smoking room. The facilities are not good compared to the prices , the phone and tv were old fashioned. Carpet was dirty and had burn marks. On the second day we even saw a hooker renting room next to us. The whole atmosphere is ghetto.....

Disgusting!!! STAY AWAY!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/20/07
The Relax Inn is by far the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in. The carpets were filthy and the showers nasty. Where is the refridgerator and alarm clock that are advertised amenities? Nearly every electrical outlet was worn out and I could not charge my phone without leaning my suitcase against the plug so it wuld stay in. I originally booked 2 rooms for 5 days. When I told the clerk we would be checking out after only two days, I was told that I would be billed for 3 days at an increased rate.

Did not deliver
By Bob B, 04/11/07
I visit San Diego and the El Cajon area frequently. I usually stay at the Good Nite Inn at the Waring Rd exit off I-8. It's a decent low-cost motel. Decided to try Relax Inn on the strength of their website. They promise a lot more than they deliver. The room was a disappointment even considering the $59.95 rate. It was dirty and had the smallest "king size" bed I've ever seen. The knobs were missing on the heater and on the shower controls. The TV remote did not work. The bottom of the shower bar had a sharp rusty edge that gave me a nasty cut when I got in the tub. The room smelled of disinfectant. I will not stay here again.

Don't even waste your time!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/08/07
Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Horrible orange smell. Dirty walls and carpet. It was so bad my puppy vomited! I was over charged. The workers at the front desk barely spoke english and were not pleasant at all. Never again would I stay at this place.

Rip Off
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/26/06
This is beyond a shadow of a doubt, a disgusting motel. The rooms are very gross. There was mold on the curtains and one of the lights was falling out of the wall exposing the wires. The toilet paper holder and tissue holder in the bathroom was all rusted out and paint was chipping off the hinges on the door. Only one of three lamps in the bedroom area had a light bulb. The telephone was filthy. We found a half eaten cookie in the closet. This was a non- smoking room and there were cigarette butts behind the night stand. No TV remote. The rooms were not ready when we arrived at 1:00 pm. You have to pay for your stay upfront and you have no idea what the rooms look like and since we initially were staying 3 nights that is what I paid for. After the 1st night we decided to stay only 2 nights and questioned whether we could have our money refunded but they stated they did not give refunds. I will not be returning to this motel and suggest to anyone traveling to always ask to see the room before paying any money.

Where Else Will You Stay for $50 a Night?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/09/05
I don't think you can get more for your money than this little hotel. I mean, if we were all millionares this might not be an issue, but right now, we were looking for a little vacation time with the kids for a good price. When you think about it, a family of four going to Seaworld for the day costs a lot of money. We just couldn't afford to pay a lot for a room, but we were still concerned about cleanliness, space, and of course, safety. The Relax Inn addressed all thse concerns and made our family trip happen this year. I don't think we could have gone anywhere else but camping otherwise. This place was cute, the cheap rate made it possible to rent a car too, and they arranged for our zoo and seaworld packages too. The staff was nice, they even played around with my son a little bit, made him comfortable to ask for things - and he is SHY! Overall, this is a great place to go if you are on a really strict budget, but still want a good experience.

Best Part of El Cajon
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/03/05
I don't like El Cajon in general that much, its not the greatest part of San Diego, but when visiting your kid at SDSU, it is the closest and cheapest place to stay. This Relax Inn has to be just about the best part of El Cajon - the people are really friendly and nice, the rooms clean and not cramped at all, and the entire hotel just a generally nice place to stay. I liked it a lot, and will come here every time I can pin my college student kid down for a weekend!

I hated it.
By Robyn, 05/30/05
When coming off the freeway, it is the FIRST turn and we missed it. It was nice that Denny's was next door and Sombrero (great Mexican food) was across the street. In the room, it was nice but one of the lamps did not work and everything was dirty. The bed had stains all over it and there were many holes in the blanket that looked like scissors or stabs. There were a lot of cigarette burns in this non-smoking room. The ceiling had many water leaks and the bathroom was gross. I only liked this hotel because Sombrero was across the street, otherwise, I would never go back to this hotel.

Excellent Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/31/05
The Relax Inn is a quaint little hotel who's name fits it's accomodations. I had a very relaxing stay in San Diego earlier this week. The staff was friendly and took care of all my needs. The room was non-smoking and fairly spacious. It was nice, as if it had just been remodeled. The location was decent. It only took me about 15 minutes to get to Balboa Park where all the museums were.
