HORRIBLE!!!
By Andrea, 11/16/09
I had my wedding here in October and it was almost as if the Lodge staff was trying to make my day and wedding planning EVEN more difficult than it needed to be. We had to fight them on everything!! Word to the wise-f you stay there make sure to CHECK ALL BILLS/FEES--they have suspicious and seemingly underhanded systems for billing, that in the end usually account for more money for them and less for you. Our guests booked over 80+ nights of Lodge rooms and our wedding was in the 5 digits--yet we still have been treated better at a Holiday Inn. 5 star this place is NOT and it WILL NEVER BE!! Go to the neighboring Estancia for much better EVERYTHING including better prices!! FYI--Despite the poor service, unfriendly staff and rudeness on all levels, my wedding was FABULOUS--but not because of the place, because of the guests!!

Great For Relaxing
By Dave, 09/08/08
Service was great. The restaurants had very tasty food. Rooms were very comfortable -- both spacious and attractive. It was a great place to relax. I don't play Golf, so proximity to the golf course wasn't a big plus for me. The location is very nice if you like Golf, but other activities are not very close by so the location isn't great for non-golfers. I don't go to a place like this for great value, so I wasn't disappointed, but I can't rate it as a bargain. However, the staff treated me very well, and I really felt I had gotten away from it all while I was there.

What The Cabana Girl Has To Say!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/18/08
When I was six yrs old(1977)My parents drove me aroung Torrey Pines for the first time.I've always loved it! The atmosphere was and still is a great get away for those who can't "get away!".Since, I've traveled the world and non to compare! The extended stay servicing treated me from Mission Bay to Del Mar to The Hotel Coronodo. So many Doctors and Chauperones,I always came back home looking twice better as I came!

Simpley The Best In San Diego
By Tom, 12/17/07
We have stayed at the Lodge twice in the past year. My wife and I happened upon it the weekend of the Buick Open and loved it so much we returned several months later with our family. We live 2 hours away, yet felt like we were a continent away. The Lodge's ambiance is unrivaled. It feels like a Scottish golf resort in wintertime. The smell of the wood burning fireplace, the kilt wearing staff and the rich wood appointments throughout impart a comfortable and unique experience. The staff is 5-star. They will remember your names and your preferences. Never have I wanted to tip an employee as frequently as we tipped this staff. The resort is small yet feels large. Normally, you might want the reverse; but this works. You get the personal attention of a small lodge but the service and amenities of a large resort. Restaurant and bar are first class. Had great meals both times. And, there is the added bonus of having the great food/shop meccas of La Jolla and Del Mar within minutes. If you book ahead, the hotel will take you to dinner in their house Mercedes Benz. During summer, they will escort you to a private beach area that they have secured unique access to. The only fault I had was that the hotel was not able to put two rooms together nor adjacent for my family. What made that troubling was that it was the hotel was not near capacity. Still, I forgive them for what otherwise was a great experience both times. We will be back!

"A rip-off"
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/16/07
We stayed there expecting a lot more than what was delivered for the price. I was impressed with the food and the overall staff was very friendly. Excellent kitchen, friendly front desk and general atmosphere all were excellent. Major drawbacks included: 1. It is impossible to play golf unless you call and arrange a time several months before. This is not practical for most people though. They have an office that should arrange last minute tee off times, but found this to be worthless. Concerciege could do nothing except recommend that you get up at 6:30 AM and put your name on a list and wait to join an outgoing group that you do know. 2. There is a strange wood burned smell that permeates the hotel. It is supposed to create a lodge feeling, but I just found it nauseating. 3. It is not close to the town of La Jolla; we kept getting lost trying to drive down the roads late at night. So, overall. I though it was a nice a place but not four stars. I would stay in La Jolla next time.

The hotel is outstanding! The food in the restaurant was disappointingly ordinary.

Fabulous food!
By Cynthia W, 09/13/05
The food was the best food I've had in a restaurant recently..fantastic breakfast, fresh and huge portions. All the restaurants in the lodge were great, loved the Peach BBQ ribs in the grill.

Idyllic Getaway
By Ryan, 05/25/05
This relatively new property has it all. It offers everything a discerning traveler could ask for when looking for upscale, professional and demanding requirements. The Lodge itself is peaceful and tranquil. Its relatively small property size gives a great feeling of intimacy and a 'special' location. Everything is in fantastic condition, and reflects the attention to detail that the property is known for. The service, from check-in, to concierge, to poolside staff, were of the highest quality and responded to even the most unusual of requests with great enthusiasm. Rooms are luxurious without being overboard, and the oceanview side can't be beat incorporating views of the Torrey Pines golf course as well. All in all, this is one destination to make special plans to visit.
