The hotel staff seems annoyed that we were even checking in and had rather be doing something else. They certainly didn’t welcome us. The views were amazing but would rather stay at home than be treated like a second class citizen.

not that great
By Veronica and Eric, 7/12/07
There are better Ritz Carltons than this one for sure. There's nothing spectacular about the interior and the employees there are snobs. Great views but not that close to the beach.

Can't Compare
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/11/07
Spectacular! Well... we all know "Ritz". You just cannot compare! Don't get me wrong, nearby St. Regis is nice but they treat you like a number! If you want exceptional service and get your moneys worth, go to Ritz. I will definately go back!

Beyond Comparison!
By Lynn, 3/21/07
I stayed here with my daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandchildren at Thanksgiving last year -- and what a treat! Everything they do here makes for a really grand, luxurious stay. The property and view are as beautiful as you find. We had Thanksgiving dinner here, and the food, too, is very special.

It's a Beautiful Day!
By Jimmy, 7/14/06
Perched on a bluff overlooking Monarch Bay, the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island, this hotel reminds us of a stately Mediterranean resort that offers comfort, charm and elegance. It's surprisingly popular with Hollywood celebrities, who adjourn here for pampering in a quiet place with beachy ambience. The beautifully appointed rooms and superior service (especially on the club floor) are on a par with the breathtaking ocean views. The hotel has focused on food and wine from its earliest days, and hosts the annual World of Food and Wine, a fall weekend of spectacular winemaker dinners, and other culinary events throughout the year as well as concert programs and other elegant touches. Afternoon tea served in a gorgeous wood-paneled library is a favorite with locals for ladylike celebrations, and the cocktail lounge overlooking the ocean makes meeting for drinks a special occasion. Longtime Executive Chef Christian Rassinoux supervises the dining scene here, including the top-notch French-Mediterranean fare at the very formal Dining Room (see Restaurants); book its exquisite wine room for private parties. Other restaurants include the casual Terrace, and, for dinner and dancing, the Club & Grill. There's also golf, tennis and a fully equipped gym. Throughout the summer, enjoy month-long promotions of some of season's most popular flavors. Fresh peaches in May, ripe California avocados in June, smoky barbecue in July and decadent chocolate in August enliven the five senses with the flavors of summer. Highlights are Cooking with the Masters classes and themed spa treatments. Visit Restaurant 162' and treat yourself to a feast where no one sense is given particular priority. Taste and share dishes from an exquisite and imaginative California-inspired menu. Enjoy a relaxing getaway with our Reconnect package or experience the fine engineering of a Mercedes-Benz with our the Key to Luxury package. View all our packages to create an ideal California coast getaway.

Little Spot of Heaven
By John, 3/29/06
Just returned from a wonderful stay at the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel. Although notionally in the, well, dumpy little town of Dana Point, this cliff-topping spa hotel shares none of that dumpiness. This is a first-rate, well-oiled luxury machine. It is everything you expect from the RC chain (which includes expensive). You must take advantage of their Oceanview Bed and Breakfast package (when it's offered), which lets you roll the parking, "resort" and $60/day breakfast into a room rate for an ocean view that is less than rack rate for the room alone. Get to breakfast early for a window table looking 162 feet down on the beach below.

Wonderful Property
By Don, 9/13/05
Great location, service, amenities, views, food, and spa. You can't go wrong here. Prices are what you would expect from a Ritz, but the value you receive is worth it. Check the Ritz Carlton website for specials, which will make for a more affordabe stay.

The Best Service...
By B, 5/21/05
I travel for business quite often, and receive more bad service than good. The Ritz Carlton staff is EXCELLENT. They are readily available, and always willing to do whatever it takes to make your stay pleasant, whether you're working or leisuring. Of all the hotels I stay in, the Ritz Carlton is Number 1 in service (and the location, is great, too!).
