Not fancy, but served our needs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/08/08
This hotel is definitely old and well-worn, but we found our room very spacious, and it served us well. We were travelling with children, so we could put them to bed in the bedroom area, and still watch TV in the living area, with the kitchen area between us. The beds were quite new, and very comfortable...clean sheets and clean towels every day. It was pretty cool to be so close to the beach, and we didn't feel that safety was an issue. Also, the girl at the front desk was VERY helpful to us..she looked up the addresses of all the places we wanted to visit (eg)Seaworld, the Zoo, etc. Our pull-out bed did not work at all, but they quickly brought us a rollaway one instead. The only challenge was the kitchen..the stove was difficult to use as it was a gas one and all the knobs were missing, and there was very few cooking utensils, so if you plan to use the kitchen it would be wise to bring along paper plates, cups, etc. The fridge worked fine, and was full size which was nice. Overall, we were happy with the service and felt we got good value for our money...the biggest issue for us was cleanliness, and our room was very clean.

unhealthy
By Eric, 01/25/08
hotel room is awful. room had a very bad smell. carpet was old and had stains on it. bed sheets were yellow and had stains on them. wall had cracks. blinds smelled and were dirty. no air conditioner. cannot even open sliding door cause the inside of the screen had bugs. lots of them. if after this review you still decide to stay there ask them to show you the room before you pay anything. i had room 120 and decided to leave the hotel and loose my $250.00 then to stay the night there. they would not refund me the money. good luck

Reservation refused! (not by Yahoo)
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/09/07
We made a confirmed reservation for a beach view king with full kitchen. After driving 375 miles from Phoenix, arriving at 4 PM, we were refused the room with the only explanation from the general manager being "somebody forgot to update the inventory in the computer". The confirmation was sent by e-mail to us on 10/2 and we arrived for the 4 day visit on 10/4. We stayed in a nearby flebag with no water pressure and went home the next day, 750 miles round trip. We had been looking forward to this for some time, having a small pet we could not find alternative accomodations and no help was offered! Yahoo did not make this reservation for us.

Still the sad Same
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/16/07
Imperial Beach has always been known as a biker and speed freak haven. While the outside area has improved a bit over the last 20 yrs. Some of the same motels are still in operation. Worn out carpet, and facilities in a motel are no use to it's renters when we can't use them when needed.I will certainly not stay in Imperial Beach again, but rather spend my $ to a known named hotel instead. Also always ask to see the room before actually pruchasing it for your stay, because as we all know, that Most of the motels are now a days waaay overpriced anyway.

Favorite hotel in California
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/19/07
My friends and I drove up the California coast.. our first stop.. the seacoast inn!! while it's not exactly 5 stars, it's still has everything you need for the price. Right on the beach, giving the perfect photo opt for any sunset picture. The pier is right there as well! A short drive up the coast to Coronado and about 10 miles into San Diego... no big deal!! It was def. our favorite places out of all the places we stayed! Paying more doesnt exactly mean you get better quality.. we stayed at the crowne plaza in Beverly Hills and found someone else's underwear under out pillows!! GROSSSS!! seacoast inn for me!!!!

Great Location, Great Price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/27/06
For those of you who may be coming from out-of-town to stay at the beach...if you choose to stay at this very affordable hotel **on the beach**, please remember the following: 1. You are in Imperial Beach...not La Jolla (if you don't know the difference do some research). 2. You are paying less than $200 per night for a hotel **on the beach**. If you want a fancy 5-star hotel, or even a Holiday Inn Express-type experience...go pay the price at the 5-star beach hotel or stay inland at a chain hotel. 3. California has outrageous cost-of-living prices...you should see what kind of place you can LEASE for $2,000 per month...you'd be shocked at how little, how old and how run-down things are for the price here. Sticker shock is definitely alive and well. As for the hotel, we didn't expect a luxurious visit and what we got was a beautiful front-row view of the ocean, a clean suite, great customer service and a place we'll go back to when we are in the area. My advice...keep your expectations in line and you'll have a great stay!

Not a good hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/14/06
We had made our reservations at the seacoast inn a month or so in advance. we drove 400 miles to get there and when we arrived, we were told we could not check in because none of us were over 21(we are 20). nowhere on the website did it say that anywhere. and when we had called to make the reservations, no one told us that either. we were told ahead of time that it wouldn't be a problem. the staff was very rude about everything. as we walked by the rooms, they seemed very run down, dirty, and reaked of smoke. the hotel was NOTHING like the pictures on the internet. the location was horrible! there were hookers at street corners and people screaming and yelling at eachother down the street. all in all i'm glad we didnt stay there. it would have been a miserable stay. i just wanted to forewarn anyone who might be interested. don't waste your money!

We'll be back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/14/06
Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. We have been to Seacoast for the past fours. We have had problems with fixtures and sleeping arrangements, but they were promptly taken care of by the staff. We didn't find anyone unfriendly there. The beachview is great and we have gone for late walks on the beach and have never been afraid. Anyone we have encountered on the beach have been friendly and with a smile. If the surfers bother you make, sure to go before school lets out in California, but even then the surfers never bothered us. They are great entertainment. We will be back as long as it remains in our price range.

When we are visiting San Diego this is were we will stay!!
By Deedee, 06/06/06
If your looking for a resort where you can stay inside and be pampered this motel is not for you. If you are looking for a place that is right on the beach were you plan on spending most of your time, and very affordable, this is the place. The rooms do not have air conditioning, but all we had to do was open the windows and listen to the ocean and enjoy the coolness of the sea breezes. The rooms were clean, and well kept but not fancy. We will go back.

Our favorite
By sovanda, 03/19/06
We have been staying at the Seacoast for more than 15 years. It is old and not glamourus, but it is very comfortable. To us it is like a second home. The beach is just out the sliding patio door and wonderful. Close to everything. We love it!!!!!
