Stove Pipe Wells Village, Death Valley

Staying at Stovepipe Wells Village was an experience that anyone who truly wants to get away from it all should do. If you are into classy spas, this isn't for you, but if you can handle a true in the middle of nowhere experience, this is your place. Motel was clean, sand dune view room was great, pool was a pleasure as were the people who staffed this oasis from the cares of every day life. Shut your cell phone off, and go out in the desert and the surrounding area and you actually will be able to experience quiet, refreshing.

We have stayed here a total of three times - just returned from a trip this past week - January 2010. The place to stay when exploring Death Valley. Staff are very friendly and hospitable. The rooms are clean and roomy. The food is terrific. We have thoroughly enjoyed all our time at Stovepipe Wells Hotel for three years. We are hoping to go back again next January and stay even longer. Oh by the way, January is a wonderful month to visit Death Valley - 60's during the day and 40's at night - makes a very comfortable trip for photographing and exploring. Hope anyone that reads this takes it very seriously - it really is a great place to stay.

location, the skies, the staff were friendly and interesting, the place had character.o.k it was basic but a posh all singing and dancing hotel etc etc would be so so wrong. We stayed for seven days in the valley and wished we had had longer.

Restaurant was good, hotel was basic, no tv which is fine, but no alarm clock. Yes, NOISEY air conditioner! Front desk guy was nice. Next time I'd just stay an extra night in Vegas and just visit DV but not stay over night. Good food at restaurant next to hotel.

VERY noisey air conditioner and I mean so noisey that when it kicks on...it practically makes you jump out of bed. Very basic hotel and that's ok, but no clock to get you up.

We stayed here in September 2007, just a day or 2 before the scorpion lady. We loved our 2 days in Death Valley and will definately go back and will stay at Stove Pipe. The room was comfortable and perfect - no phone - no TV - no frills. This hotel is such a perfect fit for the location. The restaurant is really good and service all around was friendly and top notch. We sat outside each night listening to the absolute silence and never saw one scorpion. This was the high light of a fantastic vacation. We hiked natural bridge, golden canyon and mosaic canyon. The 3rd is with out a doubt the best, and is so close to Stove Pipe you can not pass it up; the rock formations are amazing.

When you come here, please leave your city life attitude behind and you wont be dissapointed. We come here to experience something most folks never get a chance. It truly is an amazing site.

Agree with you, a good one night stay, very basic. As for the dude's statement below, I've stayed at many hotels and have never seen a toilet brush, probably because the cleaning peeps take care of that. Friendly service.

Good for a one night stay. Very basic, no phone or alarm clock. Didn't get any sleep 'cuz the front desk guy said that at night scorpions are all over the place and just keep the door shut, too terrified to sleep was glad to leave the next day. Front desk was pleasant and the restaurant was good with friendly service and food was good. We were there Sept. 25, 2007 and weather was good not too hot. I realize how much of "nothing" there really is in Death Valley. Miles of nothing. Too sum it up, Stovepipe Wells is a good one nighter.

Stayed in the Stovepipe Wells Hotel for one night in Aug 07, and found it to be a great value. The room was large and clean and offered a beautiful view of Death Valley. The front desk attendant, bartender and wait staff at the local restaurant were all helpful, friendly and knowlegable. Although I didn't use it, the pool looked well maintained. I recommended the hotel to anyone who will be in the area.
