Extremely Overpriced
We weren't allowed to stay in the real hotel for some reason- nothing to do with my dog, who slept in the van. Despite paying $85 plus all the lame extra fees (the total was nearly $100), we had to sleep in a crappy little room in the old, dive motel behind the real hotel. My understanding, after reading up on it, is the hotel is just as much a dive as the motel.
The room was run down, small, and smelled of cigarettes despite being labelled 'smoke free'. The shower was cold, and the continental breakfast (served in the banquet room of the real hotel, adding insult to injury) was unremarkable. Actually, it was very remarkable, because they were out of several items (milk, cream, orange juice), and we unded up walking out in disgust because they allowed a couple of kids to run around the lobby, banquet room, and staff-only areas, screaming their heads off.
A bad night's sleep, and a far worse morning. Never again. Even though I'd been driving all day and it was past 2 am, if I had it to do over again I would have driven another 45 minutes to the Groveland Motel and stayed in one of their cabins.
