Construction all over it was a mess
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/22/09
It was the strangest hotel experience i ever had. didn't even have a check in lobby. it was in a hotel room. sidewalks torn up. pool being constructed. but worse thing is how isolated i felt because of all the hiding places in the hallways. would never stay here by myself. too scary. i can't comment on service because the only people i ever saw were loads and loads of construction workers.

Worst experience ever!
By Rocio, 05/17/09
PROS: nice and clean room, nice view of the bay & nice for dogs. CONS: no fridge (had to use bar storage), very thin walls & terrible customer service. First night we stayed, the alarm in the empty room next to us went off at 4AM and it took them 30 min. to finally turn it off! Second night, our neighbors had a hotel party and they didn't do anything about it! Supposedly, they sent security but they didn't do anything. Then they called them and they turned down the music for about 2 min. but then they turned it back up. My fiance and I couldn't stand it,so we left at 2AM. Waste of $400!

sure to go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/08/09
When we arrived the staff was rather nice and the building was clean and very pretty dispite the undergoing renovations, it was actually quiet as well. The view was wonderful from bay view room too. My only complaints were that the heater/AC needed replacing and no fridge.

Felt like I was staying with family and friends, I was so incredibly well taken cared of, it was a lovely place, loved the walk to the conference each moring, a great way to get started, it was quiet, clean, very comfortable, the staff were warm and gracious, extremely helpful, housekeeping were so great, the gym had everything I needed to start my morning, the food was excellent and affordable, but with a touch of extras, the view was gorgeous, overlooking the lite up downtown city of LB reflecting upon the water during the evening hours. The pool area comfortable, visually pleasing, quiet, clean, This was my first trip traveling solo, so it was especially great to have this experience be so incredibly good & positive. The shuttle was very convenient at the end of a long day workshop, but acceptable if I needed to take a walk.

Love everything, had no complaints! However, now that I do recall, I did have a little problem in that the website to get my email kept coming down, and was not able to get my composed email out, back to my husband, so I just worked with my cp. That was my only inconvenience, but that is nothing really.

Fun in the sun conference!
By Stacie, 03/20/08
The Coast Long Beach was amazing! From the moment we arrived, we were treated so nicely! The front desk staff were great in helping navigate around the city and into LA! We got in very late the first night and the front desk staff was very helpful in finding an excellent delivery place. The Room Service staff were great! We were treated like queens! Both the food and service were superb! Gupaul was an extradinary source of information and super helpful! He even hooked us up with a private driver with a Lexus to take us into the City! Go Mr. KIM! The driver even waited for us at Tiffany's and Sprinkles Cupcakes while we shopped until our hearts were content! We cannot say enough about this hotel and our trip in general! It surely will not be forgotten! Everyone should have the wonderful experience we had at the Coast Long Beach!

Motel 6 Quality, Ritz Prices
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/21/08
This hotel room was booked through my wife's employer for a company holiday event. We supposedly got a discount rate as part of a group purchase. I paid WAYYYY too much for what we received. I will try too be brief; 1) Requested 1 King Bed. Got 2 Queen beds. 2) Phone did not work upon arrival. It was not plugged in. 3) I forgot to pack a black belt for my suit. The Hotel gift shop had a much larger size than I needed. I had to get the clerk off her cell phone to help me find it. The belts were behind the sweatshirts. 4) The coffee maker did not work at all. It did not work for prior guest, either. I know this because it was still full of water when I first tried to use it. 5) Room service breakfast was very low quality. McDonalds is better. 6) I requested a free pot of coffee to make up for broken coffee maker. This took 5 phone calls and 40 minutes to arrive. Room service tried to charge me for coffee after front desk agreed it should be free. Front Desk credited entire breakfast bill after all of our trouble. 7) Shower handle fell off. Luckily, it did not land on my wife's toe. 8) Wanted to bring friends to the hotel bar at 11PM on Saturday night. The 'Lounge' closes at 10PM. 9) Hotel was hard to find. I live in So Cal and visit Long Beach often. 10) We did not know about free shuttle on arrival. We asked front desk to call us a taxi to go to the Aquarium of the Pacific. They NEVER mentioned the shuttle. We found out about the shuttle after arrival at the aquarium. 11) Our view was of the Bridge, not the Queen Mary. This hotel has a prime piece of Southern California Oceanfront Real Estate, nothing more. Coast Long Beach Hotel claims to be a 'Resort'. This is a joke. Room and Service quality rank it at Motel 6 or Super 8 level. It would be unacceptable for a Best Western or Travelodge. The cost should be 50% to 70% lower than what I paid. Stay on the queen Mary for less or Downtown with better service.

wonderful!!!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/31/07
I spent my birthday there and i was extremely impressed! The rooms are very clean and fresh. It's very secluded in which i love, i had a room with a beautiful view of the queen mary and smaller boats. I found this hotel to be very relaxing and comfortable. I will be making many returns. The only thing that i was disappointed about is you have to pay $10 to park over night in their parking lot. The staff was fantabulous.

2nd time around :-)
By Dana, 12/24/07
This was my second stay for the Eukanuba Dog Show and while there were some problems it was still a wonderful stay. I had made my reservations for this year Dec 07 trip, way back in March or April. I had requested a bay side room with 2 queen beds on the ground floor. I had called several times to reconfirm all my requests and was assured that there wouldn't be any problems. However, on arrival I had been assigned a 3rd floor room with a king side bed and fold out couch that didn't fold out. The next day a room opened up on the ground floor which was more convenient and the lady I had split the room with decided to just split the king size bed and opt for the ground level. We moved. There was a small adjustment made to our bill on check out, but it should have been more. I had recommended this hotel to many friends who were also arriving after we had arrived who had the same problem. Priority had been given to the World Challenge Exhibitors that Eukanuba had blocked rooms for and the folks who had booked for the entire week, so other reservations were shuffled for them. Even with the botched reservations and promises broken it was still a very nice stay. The shuttle was once again a nice alternative to driving and parking in town. The grounds, rooms, grass and walking path made this the hotel of choice for next year as well. I'll just have to come out earlier for the earlier dog shows and stay the week. Twist my arm :-) Dana of Redgate Mastiffs

I give this place 5 STARS!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/07
I stayed at this hotel last year for the 2006 Eukanuba Dog Show. My stay was absolutely wonderful! The rooms were clean and spacious. All the staff was very dog friendly. The hotel grounds were beautiful, plenty of grass to walk and relax the dogs. A great walking trail to the Queen Mary. There was a Free shuttle into town with exceptionally friendly drivers to advise folks on the best places to eat, drink, see. I couldn't wait to book for this years show. Best time I've had in I don't know how long :-) My only complaint was that they didn't have Animal Planet so no one could watch the show from the hotel. Which made most of the exhibitors staying at the hotel go in search of tv viewing all over town. It was a quest to be sure, but they lost alot of money that we could have spent in their bar. I wouldn't stay here again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/04/07
well..one thing you'll find out when you mistakenly get there is that there isn't much in the area. There's no point in coming here unless you have a car. The area looks like one big trucker pit stop with abandoned dusty roads. The only sign of life is the Queen Mary docked right next to the hotel. It's a bit of a walk out of the hotel and into downtown. You have to walk over a very large and lenghty bridge (which is lighted purple and green and night.)Once over the really long bridge you end up in a just as boring little area with an outdoor shopping mall and stores not worth mentioning. Of course you can take public transportation (the passport bus) which is free and will take you into downtown, which is nice. but it is ideal to have your own set of wheels. As far as hotel ammenities...there is none to speak of. In the room there is only a VERY small refrigerator (no freezer) (no microwave, no toaster, no spoons, no forks, no knives, no plates, no bowles.) This would all be fine and all if the nearest super market wasn't soooooo far away. And once you do find a supermarket and try stuffind a few items into the barbi sized fridge, god forbid you go down to the hotel resturant and ask for some plastic spoons. You'll feel about two inches tall at best. The rooms aren't the cleanest either. They don't vacume, so please...bring shoes. There's no drawers in the bathroom, so plan on cramming all your stuff into the small drawers in the bedroom. The one good thing is we were able to check in before 3. Although all the websites on this hotel said check in is 3..it seemed to not be true. We got there at noon and checked in. No questions asked. They make check in and check out a breeze. The people in the lobby seemed unenthused and non-eager to help. First you'll be disapointed when you pull up and realize everything i said about the location was true. Then you'll be empressed with the lobby and the cute fountains outside and the sparkly floors and all the majic that is the lobby...then you'll remember your not staying in the lobby and you'll be directed to your motel 6 ish room. We had a room with a balcony...and a view of part of the parking lot and a very small volleyball net. The pool is freezing..and yes there is only ONE pool...no hot tub...but a small and dirty pool. I would not reccomend staying here..at all. Stay somewhere in the hustle and bustle of things. Your better off. Coast Long Beach hotel is incredibly dismal.
