A good experience and affordable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/16/09
We stayed one night at this motel and found it very satisfactory. The room was clean and well insulated. We were very comfortable and warm at night. Everything worked great; the owners were very accommodating and pleasant; they allowed our dog to stay for a reasonable fee. . we cleaned up after our dog and never allowed him to walk on the new landscape, which is very beautiful. If you stay w/your dog, I only hope you will, too, be a responsible dog owner and clean up after your dog and not allow him to destroy the beautiful landscape or anything in the rooms. It is with this responsible behavior that we are able to travel with our dogs. We are from the Bay Area and if we ever need to stay in Placerville again, we will most definitely stay here.

We love it here

If you like the feel of a route 66 motel, Motherload is the place. We like the owners and they work very hard to keep everything running smoothly. It's clean, quite and off the road from the a lot of traffic. We go every year for a week.

HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
We highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Placerville! It is tucked away in the pine trees, just off Hwy 50. VERY quiet, and more importantly, VERY CLEAN! Prices were excellent! We will be sure to recommend this to all of family and friends. In fact, our family is already making plans to come back next year! The management could not have been more friendly and more helpful! When we asked if they could recommend a nice restaurant for dinner, they suggested THE nicest restaurant! They even called and made reservations for us, and to top that off, they actually took us there so we wouldn't get lost. How many people do YOU know that would take time out of their day and use thier gas just to make sure we didn't have any problems finding our way!! The rooms was spacious, VERY clean, and the bed was so comfortable. Looks like this was all newly renovated. The microwave and refrigerator were and added plus! Thank you to the owners/managers of Mother Lode. Others should take lessons from you!!!! See you next year!

Excellent
By devdas, 02/01/09
The area was beautifully disigned. The rooms were great. There was also a pool and a basketball court. Before i went to the motel i read a couple of the reviews, one stated that there was black mold, the refrigerator was not cold enough, That is wrong the refrigerator was really cold you just neede to turn the nob to the "cold" setting and i actually searched for the black mold in entire room - there wasn't anything close to that. I recommend this place to anyone

Excellent! Worth about $5 less then listed price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/27/08
Service was prompt and friendly. Room was very comfortable and very clean. TV, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker all ready to go, nice air conditioning system. The location was great as it is far enough out of downtown to avoid traffic noise and at its location the freeway is a raised structure so you really can't hear the freeway at all. Thin walls, but the management has no problems with addressing noisy neighbor issues.

Won't go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/26/07
There was black mold in the bathroom. There were holes in the blanket/bedspread. Refrigerator was not cold enough to keep anything. Prices in ad are misleading.

Slice of Americana-and clean too!
By Curious, 08/14/07
We live up here in "Apple Hill", and my in-laws needed a place to stay while we are remodeling. We've been watching this old time motor lodge, and its transformation during its own remodeling, with amazement. The pool has been reconditioned, the landscaping is absolutely amazing, and the interior of each room has its own unique sponge painting and color. This motel is a throw back to the old era of motor lodges, not unlike the ones on the original route 66. The exception is that this one is being taken care of, it's not run down, and your stay will be pleasant. The rooms are all newly textured, painted, carpeted, and tiled. The bathrooms are extremely clean, because they're all new! This motel is just of Hwy 50, but not too close that you hear the traffic. Its 5 minutes from El Dorado Counties famous Apple Hill, and all its wineries. To get there, you'll drive through the lights of Placerville, on Hwy 50 going east, and turn right at Point View Drive. The motel is on your left. Take note of the original neon sign that boast "all electric heat!" This place is a real slice of Americana; you'll enjoy your stay. My inlaws really enjoyed their stay in their King sized bed, and they said that the great deal made it even better. For some reason, their phone number is not listed on this site, so I'll give it to you, it's (530) 622-0895. You have to make your reservations the old fashioned way, they're not "online" yet.
