Very Clean, Generally Enjoyable
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/26/11
We stayed here in late July of 2011 & were pleasantly pleased and surprised. However, none of the reviews we read included that this place is not air-conditioned. Luckily, the time we spent there, the high was only around 68, so we could keep the windows open & keep our room cool. However, we didn't like having to keep our windows open while we slept. Not only did we feel this compromised our safety, it let A LOT of the outside noise in, thus keeping us awake at night. Also, the shower is only big enough for one (skinny) person. No matter what you do, though, avoid the restaurant they give you coupons to at all costs. It was abhorrent! Service was possibly the worst I've ever experienced. Overall, the hotel was very clean and is probably priced reasonably when there isn't a major event going on around the area. We were there for motogp in Laguna Seca & we felt they'd jacked up the prices because of the national attention that race draws.

Great economical place to stay in Monterey
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/12/09
This is a great place to stay! Close to everything! The beach right across the street and a very nice park adjacent to the facility. Although the rooms were slightly on the small side and the childrens bunk beds need to be replaced. The service was great from the staff! I would recommend this lodge to those who want to be close to everything and save a couple bucks!

Nice friendly place to stay.
By Craig C, 10/19/09
Small, friendly place I had a very wonderful time staying there. The room was clean and what was expected. I would enjoy staying there again. Front desk was helpful in suggesting places to eat each evening. The on site restaurant offered a nice breakfast.

Great Location, great stop.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/2/09
The hotel is away from the noise and crowds of downtown, yet you can walk to the wharf. It is across the street from Monterey Bay, and across the street from the Estero. In all directions, water views. So wonderful to find. The sunset from the balcony was enchanting. Inside there are all amenities in every comfortable, attractive room. I would stay here whenever I am in Monterey, and I will send my friends. Hot tub, swimming pool at the end of a day of travel called to us, even on a cold winter day.

What a dump
By Gayle, 12/23/08
It looked like a prison from the outside. Also, it had an odd smell. It was outdated and generally rather shabby looking. The clerk at the front was rather short with me. Next to the hotel is some old broken down military looking building. Yuck!! The hotels on the water were only about $50 more a night. Next time I would fork out the extra $50!!

I cant wait till next Septmeber 1009 to go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/14/08
Larry helped us in so many ways, My husband and I and the dogs go there every year and we stay 7-11 days we love it there. The maids are really nice and helpful, we love the room and if we could we would like to move to Montery some year. Thanks Larry for all you help and your great attitude to help the customers. It is worth the time to travel there and the money, and we have reccomend your lodge to others even when we were there this year some people were looking for a place to stay and we sent them there. See you next year Larry.
